Wind turbines are normally connected directly to the utility grid. The power production from a wind turbine depends on the wind condition. Favorable wind conditions are often found in thin populated areas, where the grid may be \"weak\". With an increasing number of wind turbines in such areas, it becomes more difficult to maintain an acceptable voltage quality. Problems such as under-voltages and over-voltages are well known. The over-voltages, which occur in case of low loads and high wind production, must be avoided due to the risk of damage to appliances of the customers. Using traditional load flow analysis, it is not possible to achieve a realistic impression of where and. when the over-voltage occur in a distribution system over a whole year. These analysis are normally based on some selected combinations of consumer loads and wind power productions. An investigation of the voltage condition is possible if the variations of both loads and productions are taken into account. This paper describes a method of determining the voltage conditions in a distribution system calculated over a year. The consumer loads and wind power productions are assumed as normal distributed within a year. The probability of undervoltage and over-voltage within a year is calculated, considering that the phase to neutral voltage at the consumers should be within the range based on the Egyptian Standard for voltage quality as given by IEC.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01. We, therefore, could not conclude much about the temperature dependences and activation energies of the processes involved. On the other hand, the effect of glass-bead size and its electrical properties were significant. The samples with large glass-bead had two RPS whose dielectric strengths increased with the concentration of the glass-beads. The behavior of losses has also indicated the influence of the high conductivity of the large glass-beads.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01. The most common voltage patterns used are voltage ramp and step. This paper describes design and implementation of a function generator especially suited for thin films testing. The generator can be controlled using a computer, performing many different voltage patterns. This feature makes it a very versatile instrument, useful in a wide range of experiments. The system is based on a switching DC power supply (flyback converter), controlled by a computer (on-board microcontroller). The control system is a PD with a feedforward loop.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01. Proceedings of the 20001 IEEE 7th International Conference on Solid Dielectrics (Cat. For each event, the breakdown voltage, the electrical current pulse, the emitted light and the cleared area have been measured. From the total charge flowing in the leads of the cell, the energy supplied to the test cell during a breakdown, the cleared area and their variations with the breakdown voltage, we quantitatively determine the relative importance of the different causes of energy dissipation during a breakdown. The efficiency of self-healing according to the values of the surface resistance Rs of the films is inferred from these variations.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01.
