In the aging process, two typical /spl phi/-q-n (phase-charge-number) patterns with turtle-like and rabbit-like shapes, respectively, can be observed. In this paper, the effect of rest time on PD behavior is studied by changing the shape of the waveform. Comparative study on PD from a void between two metal surfaces is also carried out, in which the discharge area of every PD is equal to the metal surface, and the influence of the variation of PD discharge areas can be neglected.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01. Photocells made of the composites exhibited enhanced photosensitivity at 400-600 nm and 675-800 nm. The enhanced photoconductivity and strongly quenched PL were explained by efficient photoinduced charge separation at the interface between ROPPV and PV in the composite films. Formation of PV network is interpreted to contribute for electron migration to the electrode. More higher photoconductivity could be got by mixing PV and C/sub 60/ into conducting polymers.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01. The fillers impart non-linear current-voltage characteristics to the materials. The electrical conductivities of plaques of epoxy containing filler were a function of the applied electric field strength. The current-voltage relationship was dependent on the filler and differed from that for the unfilled material. The current transient as a result of an applied DC step voltage depended on the filler type and applied field strength. Multi-layer, plaque samples of mica-paper, glass-cloth and epoxy resin, with and without ZnO filler, were examined electrically. Current transient measurements allowed the estimation of the dielectric loss from /spl sim/10/sup -5/-10/sup -1/ Hz. Global thermally stimulated depolarisation current (TSDC) spectra were obtained. Partial polarisation spectra at 5/spl deg/C intervals were also obtained from 35-150/spl deg/C for unfilled and 20% ZnO filled samples. The spectra showed significant differences between sample types.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01. The new system offers several advantages such as easy assembling sample, intimate contacts at the interfaces and its suitability for different sized cables. Several factors that influence the quantitative charge distribution in cable geometry such as divergence (both in pulsed electric stress and acoustic pressure) and attenuation/dispersion of the acoustic wave in thick insulation are discussed. A data processing technique has been developed which considers all of the above factors in order to improve the measurement accuracy both in sensitivity and spatial resolution. The results from the two XPLE power cables with different thermal treatments have demonstrated that the new system, together with data processing algorithms is capable of measuring space charge distribution and its change with the treatments.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01. Recently, much attention have been paid to the developments of extruded DC power cables. Many papers have been published on space charge in low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). However, space charge behavior and charge dynamics are very complicated and sensitive to various factors such as physical/chemical structures of LDPE, additives, interfacial conditions, applied field, temperature, and so on. They have not been well understood yet. More research work on space charge behavior in LDPE and effects of these factors on space charge behavior are required to develop high performance DC cables. In this paper, we investigated the effect of anti-oxidants on space charge behavior and DC current in LDPE.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01. A new generation of DC/AC converters for adjustable speed drives, the so-called PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) inverters, has been developed in recent years. It has significant advantages for motor speed control, but has been proved to overstress electrical insulation with respect to the sinusoidal supply. The increase of partial discharge (PD) activity seems to be mainly responsible for the degradation acceleration of motors fed by ASD. In order to investigate the aging behavior, the results of life tests carried out on twisted pairs subjected to 50 Hz and 10 kHz sinusoidal voltage, as well as unipolar and bipolar square pulses, are presented.","PeriodicalId":239585,"journal":{"name":"ICSD'01.
