The article describes a modern history of Western Sahara focusing on the UN’s policies and activities related to this basing on resolutions, reports and other documents of the organization.The aim of the article is to present UN’s decolonisation and conflict resolution activities in Western Sahara. The text shows that the UN has remarkable achievements concerning the people of Sahara, although the main aim – self-determination of Sahrawi people by referendum – currently is unattainable because of idleness of great powers and firm stance of occupying state – the Kingdom of Morocco.","PeriodicalId":239502,"journal":{"name":"Refleksje. Niebylski","doi":"10.14746/R.2011.3.04","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.14746/R.2011.3.04","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of this article is to study the philosophical, ideological and political roots of the Third Way concept. The analysis of these aspects should capture the genuine sources of the new faces of European social democracy and prove the thesis that this model is influential in West Europe as well as in Poland. The article asks the question: is the Third Way a political ideology with its own distinctive ‘core’, a loose fusion of different ideologies, or a strategy within an ideological tradition? Moreover, the article is an attempt to examine on what level the formula of the Third Way assume ‘going out’ of the disputes between the left and the right. Finally, the paper examines the correlation between politics of Third Way and the redefinition of political conflict in the Poland after 1989.","PeriodicalId":239502,"journal":{"name":"Refleksje. Studies conducted just before the local elections in Gniezno, in 2014, allow us to analyze the impact of these characteristics on the political activity of voters.
