Nanocomposites have been shown to be ideal bioactive materials due the many biological interfaces and structures operating at the nanoscale. Polymer - ceramic nanocomposite systems are particularly interesting as they can be closer to bone in terms of its constitution which is mostly an intricate combination of two phases at the nano-level: hydroxyapatite and collagen. The present article has as its main goal to analyze the most recent reported studies based on polymer-ceramic nanocomposites produced for bone replacement and regeneration. The present information about the in vivo and in vitro studie s that have been performed and their contribution for the development of an ideal nanocomposite material to be used in bone. Structural, morphology, micrograph and chemical composition of this nanocrystalline composites were characterized by XRD, AFM, SEM and FTIR, respectively.","PeriodicalId":239169,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 8th International Conference Nanomaterials: Application & Properties (NAP)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134440614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An increase in the temperature of SPS from 1550 °C up to 1650 °C led to an insignificant densification of the reported silicon nitride and decrease in microhardness. Proposed combination appears promising in terms of allowing sintering for very short times at relatively low temperatures.","PeriodicalId":239169,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 8th International Conference Nanomaterials: Application & Properties (NAP)","volume":"15 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132732832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result of stepwise carburizing by the EEA method: the roughness of the surface layer decreases from $mathrm{R}_{mathrm{a}}=4.79$ to $mathrm{R}_{mathrm{a}}= 1.10 mumathrm{m}$ and from $mathrm{R}_{mathrm{z}}=13.62$ to $mathrm{R}_{mathrm{z}}=3.14 mumathrm{m}$; the microhardness of the white layer (near-surface layer of increased hardness) decreases from 950 HV to 720 HV; the increased hardness zone depth decreases from 130 to $100 mumathrm{m}$. It has been stated that at sulfo-carburizing of steel parts with the use of the method of electroerosion alloying (EEA), the surface roughness and the depth of the layer having a higher sulfur content increase with increasing discharge energy, and the amount of sulfur decreases in the very surface and along the depth of the layer while deepening thereof. As a result of micro-X-ray spectral analysis, it has been found out that on the modes of the discharge energy values of 0.13; 0.55 and 3.4 J, on the surfaces of 20 steel, there are formed the layers saturated with sulfur having the depth values of ~ 60, 90, and $150 mumathrm{m}$ respectively. The metallographic analysis of the coatings after sulfo-carburizing by the EEA method showed that the microstructure obtained consisted of 2 zones, namely, the diffusion zone and the zone of base metal. The durametric analysis indicated that in the surface layer, there could be distinguished three portions, namely, the near-surface portion, which was characterized by the lower values of microhardness, the strengthened layer portion, where the maximum microhardness value was observed, and the portion of base metal. The microhardness values of the zones are determined by the energy parameters of the EEA process. The greater discharge energy value produces the higher microhardness value for the layer having a lower microhardness as well as for the strengthened layer.","PeriodicalId":239169,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 8th International Conference Nanomaterials: Application & Properties (NAP)","volume":"124 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133685176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is established that chemical reduction of Ag+ions in the pectin - Ag+- poly(4-vinylpyridine) IMC, involving sodium borohydride at a molar ratio [BH4−]: [Ag+] ≥ 1.0 results in formation of the nanocomposite based on the, pectin-poly(4-vinylpyridine)” interpolyelectrolyte complex (IPEC) and silver nanoparticles (Ag) as well. Another type of nanocomposites on the base of interpolyelectrolyte complexes, pectin-polyethyleneimine (PEI)” and Ag nanoparticles was obtained by both chemical and thermochemical reduction of Ag+ions in the polyelectrolyte-metal complexes. Such type of nanocomposites with Ag nanoparticles incorporated into polymer matrix is obtained due to the chemical reduction of Ag+ ions by NaBH4in the interpolyelectrolyte complex, and appearance of the silver metallic phase is observed in full extent while BH4−: Ag+molar ratio is equal to 2.0. It is defined that thermochemical reduction of Ag+ions in IMC bulk (while films are heated to the temperature around 100 °C and more) results in formation of silver-containing nanocomposites. It is supposed that thermal reduction takes place owing to electrons transfer from the amino groups' nitrogen atoms of polyethyleneimine to Ag+ions.","PeriodicalId":239169,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 8th International Conference Nanomaterials: Application & Properties (NAP)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125453556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This group includes liposomes - highly biocompatible spherical particles formed from lipids. Liposomes, after appropriate functionalization can be used as contrast agents in many imaging methods e.g. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). In addition, research on the properties of paramagnetic liposomes that contain a gadolinium (III) ion (Gd (III)) in their structure, as well as therapeutic agents, provide the basis for the preparation of a new generation of hybrid nanoparticles. These hybrids, due to their contrasting abilities in MRI, allow one to monitor the biodistribution of drugs administered in a human body. This study investigates changes in the contrast properties of Gd(III)-containing paramagnetic liposomes following the incorporation of photosensitizing agent (ZnPc - zinc phthalocyanine). It provides identification of mechanisms responsible for enhancement of proton relaxation rate and hence, the increased both $mathbf{r}_{1}s$ and $mathbf{r}_{2}$ relaxivities. Here we demonstrate that the relaxation enhancement originates mainly from modification of a structure of the lipid bilayer. Modified Florence model was fitted to the experimental NMRD profiles of liposomal solutions (magnetic field range from 0.0002 T to 9.4 T). These results indicate the water permeability changes and deformation of the lipid bilayer structure as a result of ZnPc incorporation. As Gd(III) is located in the outer and inner lipid layers, some of the Gd(III) chelates are localized in aqueous interior of the liposomes, thus their contrasting efficiency depends on the water exchange rate through the membrane. Therefore, increased water permeability results in an increase of the overall relaxivity. The proposed approach raises the possibility of reducing the amount of potentially harmful contrast media based on gadolinium, by taking into account the increase of the relaxation effect caused by other components of the system.","PeriodicalId":239169,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 8th International Conference Nanomaterials: Application & Properties (NAP)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129442756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
