Abstract

It was shown that described spark plasma sintered Al2O3-MgO doped silicon nitride has high mechanical properties in particular the microhardness and the Young's modulus. An increase in the temperature of SPS from 1550 °C up to 1650 °C led to an insignificant densification of the reported silicon nitride and decrease in microhardness. Proposed combination appears promising in terms of allowing sintering for very short times at relatively low temperatures.
