Mangrove ecosystem is a natural wetland that allocated at Red Sea and extended for 500 km at the Egyptian western coast. Five sampling sites were investigated at the north near to the city of Hurghada beginning from the Abu Monquar Island (27° 12′ 58′′N, 33° 52′ 34′′E). This work investigates the impact of the original population of Mangrove type (Avicennia marina ) on the soil carbon sequestration. Obtained results of the mean values of measured soil bulk density (SBD) at the soil surface (0-30 cm) were revealed that the lowest values of the SBD was at Abu Monquar Island with 1.31± 0.02, g cm -3 and at Safaga with 1.53 ± 0.05 g cm -3 . While at El Gouna 1, 2 and at Hurghada the SBD values varied from 1.63 to 1.75 g cm -3 . In addition, the soil dry bulk density at the control site (beach without plants) was 1.75± 0.05g cm -3 . On the other hand, the highest values of the Calcium carbonate were obtained Abu Monquar island with 168. 20 gKg -1 , while the Calcium carbonate values were 26.60 gKg -1 , 69.30 gKg -1 , 58.50 gKg -1 , 91.90 gKg -1 and 26.90 gKg -1 for Gouna1, Gouna2, Hurghada, Safaga, and the control, respectively. The mean values of measured soil organic carbon pool (SOCP) at the soil surface (0-90cm) revealed that the lowest values of the SOCP was at Hurghada with 8.81± 0.12 Mgha -1 and the highest values at Abu Monquar island with 59.75 ± 0.15 Mgha -1 . While at El Gouna 1, 2 and at Safaga the SOCP values were 14.48, 12.86, and 39.98 Mgha -1 , respectively. In addition, the SOCP at the control site (beach without plants) was 6.62± 0.25 Mgha -1 . Thus the Mangrove ecosystem has a great potential to sequestrate the soil organic carbon and reduce the atmospheric CO 2 .","PeriodicalId":23865,"journal":{"name":"Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91003374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of inorganic, organic and bio-fertilization on plant growth and NPK content by successive four cuts of sudan grass plants grown in clayey soils. The most important findings could be summarized as follows: Generally, in most cases, adding any organic sources i.e., chicken manure (CM) or rabbit manure (RM) or Quail manure (QM) or farmyard manure (FYM) at the rate of 0.5% with50 % RD (NPK) plus inoculated by microbien (Mic.) gave the highest significant values of four cuts and accumulative fresh weight as well as N, P and K percentage of sudan grass grown in clay soil compared with control treatment. As a general view, the fresh weight and N percentage of sudan grass grown in clay soil was increased from 1 st cut to 2 nd one then decreased in 3 rd cut followed by last one using the control treatment or 100% RD (NPK) with or without microbien inoculated or 50% RD (NPK) with CM, QM, RM and FYM with microbien inoculated. The same trend was noticed for P% using the microbien inoculated with 50 % RD (NPK) or 50% RD (NPK) alone or control treatment. Also, the fresh weight of sudan grass was increased from 1st cut to 2nd one followed by 3rd cut then decreased in last one by adding the treatment of 50% RD (NPK) with QM or CM. Similar trend was obtained for N% by adding the 100% RD (NPK) with or without microbien inoculated or 50% RD (NPK) with Mic. The same trend was noticed for P% by adding 50% RD (NPK) plus 0.5% of any organic wastes with or without microbien inoculated. Similar trend was obtained for K% by adding 50% RD (NPK) plus 0.5% of any organic wastes with microbien inoculated compared with control treatment. In general, it could be stated that to increase forage production and its quality of sudan grass, mineral with organic and bio-fertilizer can be used at rate of 50% NPK mineral fertilizers with any organic wastes plus bio- fertilizer (microbien)under the same soil conditions.","PeriodicalId":23865,"journal":{"name":"Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82749346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All experimental work was conducted using a mixture of wood saw dust + linen sass + corn stalks with equal percentages, to produce samples of different types of pressed wood. The main experiments were carried out to control and study the effect of some different operating parameters (pressing pressure (1, 3, 5, 7 MPa), pressing time (5, 10, 15, 20 min.) and resin type (Urea formaldehydes and Speria formaldehyde) affecting the pressed wood production processes. The produced pressed wood was evaluated taking into consideration physical properties (Density, thickness swelling and water absorption), mechanical properties (Modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, and internal bond strength) and final product quality. The obtained data reveal that the produced pressed wood quality were meeting the required physical and mechanical properties as stated in the standard quality guidelines under conditions of 5 MPa pressing pressure and 15 min.. pressing time with the use of urea formaldehyde resin. The findings also illustrated that by controlling both pressing pressure and pressing time, a mixture of wood saw dust + linen sass + corn stalks with equal percentages could be used to produce different types of pressed wood (Particleboards, PB; Medium density fiberboards, MDF and High density fiberboards, HDF).","PeriodicalId":23865,"journal":{"name":"Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79288902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, the antibacterial activity of monosodium glutamate and a mixture of salt (sodium chloride) and sugar can (sucrose) in a ratio of 1:1 was determined by disc diffusion assay, the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). Results showed that Gram-negative bacteria since the mean values of the inhibition zones were in the ranges of 11.8, 13.4, 15.4, and 16 mm when studying the effect of monosodium glutamate on Escherichia coli , Serratia marcescens , Bacillus cereus, and Staphylococcus aureus , respectively. Also, the mean values of the inhibition zones were in the ranges of 14.2, 15.6, 18.2, and 17 mm when studying the effect of the mix of sugar and salt in a ratio of 1:1 on Escherichia coli , Bacillus cereus, Serratia marcescens , and Staphylococcus aureus , respectively. The average MIC and MBC values of monosodium glutamate against Gram-negative bacteria were 37.5 and 75 µg/ml, respectively, while these values were 32.5 and 65 µg/ml against Gram-positive bacteria, respectively. Also, the average MIC and MBC values of the mix of sugar and salt in a ratio of 1:1 against Gram-negative bacteria were 27.2 and 55 µg/ml, respectively. While these values were 22.5 and 45 µg/ml, respectively against Gram-positive bacteria, respectively. Besides, the results demonstrated that the control of chicken strips possessed the uppermost values of total bacterial count and the least values of total coliform count compared to the remaining treatments. Salmonella and Escherichia coli were not found in both treatments up until the ending of the storage period. The control of chicken strips possessed the least counts of total Staphylococcus aureus , total psychrophilic bacteria, and yeast and mold counts compared to the remaining treatments.","PeriodicalId":23865,"journal":{"name":"Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78733225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
