The operating frequency of processors is controlled dynamically with exploiting the characteristics of each data frame processed in the multimedia algorithms. A statistically non-negligible percentage of electric loads on the power network is represented by these devices. Consumer electronics notoriously consume DC power, at several voltage levels ranging anywhere from 1.8 to 24 V, in the absence of unified standards. As a consequence, each load is served from the AC network through several conversion stages, which is not the most efficient solution. The problem of efficiency exists not only on a global level, but locally, too. On a local level efficiency can be improved by connecting several converters in parallel and setting their operating point as close to the maximum efficiency point as possible. This can be implemented by means of multi-agent based load sharing algorithms [1]. These intelligent agents (IA) are negotiating at the load distribution between converters and aim at achieving maximum overall efficiency. Other optima can also be targeted at the same time. The paper presents a model based on DC/DC buck converters and its experimental verification.","PeriodicalId":236486,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics -Berlin (ICCE-Berlin)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124768192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major theme of this paper is based on zero coefficient-aware design, which reduces the computational complexity of inverse DCT algorithms by avoiding unnecessary computations caused by zero DCT coefficients. We extended the zero coefficient-aware design to the inverse quantization stage to farther reduce the computational complexity of inverse quantization and inverse DCT by avoiding computations with zero quantized DCT coefficients. In order to maximize the computational complexity reduction as well as to preserve precision accuracy of the ideal IQ-IDCT process, the proposed method employs the fixed-point approximation scheme on all computational procedures of the IQ-IDCT based on table-lookup operations with accurate dyadic terms. As a result, we have achieved a speedup by factor of 3.1 on average compared to the fixed-point 8×8 inverse discrete cosine transform standard.","PeriodicalId":236486,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics -Berlin (ICCE-Berlin)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131800757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First commercial services, enabled by ISDN, where mainly operated by Telcos, then IP enabled video conference and multiconference through the session description protocol (IETF RFC 4566). The common explanation why these services were not massively adopted was price, bandwidth limitation and poor usability. Today bandwidth has greatly improved thanks to ADSL penetration, and many free and commercial providers offer more usable video conference services. Still these services are not massively adopted by domestic users. We also base on the hypothesis that video conference integration with social networks and home networks, will dramatically improve usability and market, but we consider that both integration and usability will be greatly increased through flexible consumer electronics. In this article we explain the requirements of such a device, its architecture, and the advantages for users and technology adoption.","PeriodicalId":236486,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics -Berlin (ICCE-Berlin)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129795713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most speakers are comprised of three-dimensional devices such as a voice coil, a permanent magnet, and an enclosure. An ac voltage applied to the voice coil generates displacement of the cone due to the magnetic interaction between the magnet and the voice coil. The displacement produces audio sound waves. Recently, many mobile electronic devices such as mobile phones have become smaller, lighter, and thinner for the sake of convenience and due to advanced technologies. A problem with this miniaturization, however, is that the volume of the produced output sounds has also decreased. In contrast to conventional three-dimensional speakers, we have designed a new type of two-dimensional flexible speaker based on the use of reverse piezoelectric effect on certain piezoelectric materials. This would be very useful in today's increasingly thinner consumer electronics devices such as mobile phones. There are other applications such as clothes, wearable computers, raincoats, etc.","PeriodicalId":236486,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics -Berlin (ICCE-Berlin)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126062433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
