It is based on the usage of infrared sensors to detect and map the obstacles around it and thus to store in system memory a map of the surrounding area. For this purpose, working with the variables angle and distance is needed and to acquire the required information from these , a number of infrared sensors which are above the vehicle are used, as well as the ability to rotate them to face different directions. All variables must be processed in the control system which will be managed by a microcontroller, because of its great capacity to manage these information besides having the control system memory.","PeriodicalId":236039,"journal":{"name":"2010 20th International Conference on Electronics Communications and Computers (CONIELECOMP)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123879768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the Kalman filter channel estimator, soft-input-soft-output (SISO) minimum mean square error (MMSE) equalizer and a maximum posterior probability (MAP) decoder, the channel estimate can be improved for each iteration by using soft information feedback from the decoder. Computer simulations show good estimation and tracking by the Kalman filter with only a few training (pilot) symbols even when signals experience deep fading. It is observed from simulations that the overall system performance can be improved by 4dB after 14 iterations compared to non-iterative channel estimation and equalization. The proposed method is shown to obtain fast channel estimation and low complexity turbo equalization which are requirements in time-varying fading channels.","PeriodicalId":236039,"journal":{"name":"2010 20th International Conference on Electronics Communications and Computers (CONIELECOMP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122342401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The remnant charge polarization and film resistance properties were evaluated to determine the effect of the aforementioned deposition conditions. The C-V characterization indicates that the BTO films still retained ferroelectric properties in films produced at temperature as low as 200 °C, below which, the behavior was only paraelectric.","PeriodicalId":236039,"journal":{"name":"2010 20th International Conference on Electronics Communications and Computers (CONIELECOMP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130270828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The unique architecture of the FPGA has allowed the technology to be used in many applications encompassing all aspects of video image processing. Among those algorithms, linear filtering based on a 2D convolution, and non-linear 2D morphological filters, represent a basic set of image operations for a number of applications. In this work, an implementation of linear and morphological image filtering using a FPGA NexysII, Xilinx, Spartan 3E, with educational purposes, is presented. The system is connected to a USB port of a personal computer, which in that way form a powerful and low-cost design station. The FPGA-based system is accessed through a Matlab graphical user interface, which handles the communication setup. A comparison between results obtained from MATLAB simulations and the described FPGA-based implementation is presented.","PeriodicalId":236039,"journal":{"name":"2010 20th International Conference on Electronics Communications and Computers (CONIELECOMP)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115261556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The instrument consists of two main subsystems: a) an optical one, which includes continuous and pulsed UV light sources, a Czerny-Turner type monochromator and a high sensitivity photo multiplier tube (PMT), and b) a high-speed digitizer designed with a high performance digital signal processor (DSP), a high bandwidth analog to digital converter (750 MHz), and a computer. A program running on the DSP applies sequential time-equivalent sampling technique, to resolve time-domain fluorescence signals. The processor communicates with the computer via a standard serial port to receive commands and to transmit data. A control program was developed in the graphical language G of LabVIEW¿ 7.1 to register and plot the time-resolved fluorescence pulses. The ET is a derivative-based transformation that enhances either the variability content of a signal from a single channel, or the compound variability content of signals from multiple channels. In the case of the single-channel ET, a spatial focusing effect in MEG data is achieved, which is a desirable effect given that MEG spatial variability can be correlated to regions of brain activity. On the other hand, when the ET is applied to channels that have been grouped following certain anatomical or physiological criteria, the variability content of the group gets concentrated and a signal compression is achieved. This effect can be useful in MEG-based brain-computer interfaces (BCI) where channel density compression is desired when going from training data to real life applications. Both the spatial focusing and compression properties of the ET are demonstrated with real MEG experiments.","PeriodicalId":236039,"journal":{"name":"2010 20th International Conference on Electronics Communications and Computers (CONIELECOMP)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121572512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed model, inspired on the Hybrid Complex Neural Network (HCNN) model, takes advantage of information obtained by wavelet decomposition and of the oscillatory abilities of recurrent neural networks (RNN). The prediction accuracy of the proposed architecture is evaluated using 11 economic time series of the NN5 Forecasting Competition for Artificial Neural Networks and Computational Intelligence, obtaining an average SMAPE of 27%. In this issue, chemometric methods were applied to identify concentration of each single compound in a mixture. The processed information is contained in measurements of steady-state fluorescence spectra emitted by different substances (antifreezes and edible oils). The measurements were performed with a home made experimental system. A program was written in the graphical language G of the LabVIEW 8.2, to acquire spectra data and to perform several chemometrics techniques (multivariable analysis). The program calculates the concentrations of individual compounds present in a mixture. The results were compared to determine the most effective method. For edible oils, it is possible to find out the extent of adulteration of olive oil with lesser quality oils.","PeriodicalId":236039,"journal":{"name":"2010 20th International Conference on Electronics Communications and Computers (CONIELECOMP)","volume":"159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129630403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
