Borodzhieva","doi":"10.12753/2066-026x-21-084","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12753/2066-026x-21-084","url":null,"abstract":"The paper describes the application of the project-based learning approach, one of the trends of Education 4.0, for increasing students' motivation for learning the material studied in the course \"Coding in Telecommunication Systems\" on the topic of Hamming codes by using different computer-based tools, such as MS Excel, Logisim, ISE Project Navigator, creating bilingual interactive multimedia testing exercises, etc. The applications are used in the educational process in the course \"Coding in Telecommunication Systems\" for Bachelors in the specialty \"Internet and Mobile Communications\" in our University.\u0000Nowadays, the progress of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the educational innovations have provoked the university professors to develop more effective teaching and learning approaches for attracting students' attention and motivating them to learn the material. The university professors are trained to transform the \"conventional teacher-centred approach\" into the \"innovative student-centred approach\" using ICT and project-based learning approach. ICT in education are applied with the aim of providing more facilities to students to learn the issues. The use of information technologies leads to an increase in work and productivity efficiency, in a short period of time. The paper, presents a method of diversifying clothing product models, using graphic libraries, created by using Corel Draw software, which can be used as a teaching tool in education, for the course \"Designing series and model systems\". The method presented in the paper is based on an advanced study, theoretical and practical, of developing new models for designing clothing products in series and industrial systems. The method is based on the requirements imposed by the wearers. Also, this method may be introduced in the initial stage of creating new models, both within companies and in specialized institutions. The graphic library allows the use, modification and completion with new constructive-functional elements. As a further direction of development, it is proposed to complete the graphic library with functional-constructive elements that would allow obtaining new product model systems. Also here can be created 2D sketches, known as a technical drawing, which is an essential element of the garment. This method is suitable for any person working in the field of clothing design. After making an urgent and unexpected transition from previously face-to-face university courses to computer-based interactions with students at distant sites, the new context demands new method to assess the students learning outcomes.\u0000\u0000A survey was designed to measure the perception of undergraduates of online assessment activities across Covid-19 pandemic period, in terms of validity, reliability and objectiveness.\u0000\u0000This study investigated the UPB student's perception of assessment activities with stated learning objectives, collaborative learning, scheduling and tests timing, quality of the feedback, self-motivation, and communication regarding assessment process.\u0000\u0000Although the UPB students are accustomed to digital technologies, this survey outlines that the online environment facilitates and constrains particular methods of assessment. Even few vaccines have been developed, actually their effects are not completely studies during few years over a large population, and it is possible that this pandemic to be seasonal in the future, in a similar manner like the flu. An educational tool will be useful for students and research to learn the model of spreading the disease, especially for biomedical engineering students that have knowledge both about the infectious diseases and mathematical modelling. An educational tool for recurrent waves of COVID-19 disease is proposed. The tool uses two general types of models: a compartment one that can be translated in a system of ordinary differential diseases (ODE) and neural network ones. The asymptomatic compartment and quarantine along with possibility of re-infection is taken into account in both models. The lockdown is simulated using few types of continuous function instead on constant transmission rate of disease. A graphic user interface (GUI) is constructed in order to offer to user an intuitive manner to user learn the COVID-19 models. The tool offers the possibility to choose the parameters of models and suggestion for equilibrium stability to the disease-free and endemic equilibrium and calculation of basic reproduction number. In order to solve the problems listed above, within the call \"Offers of research-innovation solutions on combating and mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic\", launched by the National Agency for Research and Development of the Republic of Moldova, a team of researchers from the Technical University of Moldova (TUM) initiated a project, called DIGIFORME, which aims to develop solutions of an institutional, informational and methodological nature corresponding to the curricular specificities of engineering and technological specialties within the beneficiary university, such as laboratories remote, simulation laboratories, methods and algorithms for analyzing the interaction between the actors of the teaching process, etc.\u0000This research comes with the description of a viable didactic model to be implemented in the educational process in universities in engineering both in a pandemic context and in a post-pandemic context. The model design and analyzed by the author provides for the implementation of certain methodological digital transformations, the presence of which is argued both from a theoretical and applied perspective of teaching-learning-evaluation of engineering disciplines in a distance learning format. \u0000The solutions presented in the article are meant to reduce the vulnerabilities of a university with a profile in engineering education, such as the lack of a basis for carrying out distance work with students (from all types of studies); insufficient training of teachers for the full conduct of online lessons; the inadequacy of the informational and methodological support for the number of didactic activities specific to the specialties with engineering and technological profile. Skopintseva, Natalia Novolodskaya","doi":"10.12753/2066-026x-21-060","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12753/2066-026x-21-060","url":null,"abstract":"This article is an attempt to study both the factors affecting the efficiency of teaching the English language as a second one (ESL) in non-linguistic universities and the peculiarities of monitoring students' performance in a blended learning environment which appeared due to the pandemic of 2020-2021. Blended learning is considered to be a type of learning that combines traditional teacher-led learning with interactive learning, however, it does not mean complete replacement of classroom learning with pure e-learning. In the context of blended learning, its increased efficiency is one of the main issues of teaching and learning activity, especially when it comes to teaching a foreign language in a non-linguistic university. In this case the efficiency of teaching depends on the external and internal factors. External (objective) factors refer to the factors that influence the educational process organization and professional qualities of the teacher. Internal (subjective) factors include factors related to the learning activity of the student and their personal qualities. In the course of the study, the authors conducted a survey of 131 students from three non-linguistic universities in the city of Irkutsk; in the given research they analyzed one external factor - creation of an information and educational environment and a number of internal factors (motivation to learn a foreign language; students' self-organization; satisfaction with educational activities). To create a blended learning environment in all three universities, the Moodle platform was used, on which various courses were developed, all of them include advisory, information, reference and test modules. To assess the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process, there is a specific control system, the main task of which, when teaching foreign languages at a university, is to establish a correspondence between the real level of students' language, speech and sociocultural competences and the requirements of the curriculum. In this last case, fuzzy linguistic variables and fuzzy numbers (triangular, trapezoidal or generalized fuzzy) are the along with arithmetic operations are the most common approaches. Depending on distance similarity between fuzzy numbers, the results, no matter the proposed methods, can have slightly different results in intermediary matrices of fuzzy numbers used in calculation. Despite of MADM popularity and usage, in many papers the part that show intermediary results in matrix of fuzzy numbers cover pages and, in this form, it is difficult for the reader to follow all the values in the process of learning these methods. More, if the matrices have higher dimensions and a user (student, e.g.) wants to test some hypothesis, the reproduction of algorithms can be very difficult because of abundance of data. An educational tool is proposed especially for biomedical engineering students, in this stage of development made by two modules: Fuzzy TOPSIS method and fuzzy VIKOR method. Two types of fuzzy numbers are taken into account (triangular fuzzy numbers and trapezoidal fuzzy numbers) and three distance similarity between fuzzy numbers (vertex method, Hausdorff metric and normalized Hamming metric) are three options proposed to used. This period presented a set of new requirements for education systems. It was necessary, in a short period of time, to find effective digital solutions for distance teaching. Most teachers changed their activities during the pandemic to adapt them to virtual teaching, thus becoming creators of online education. In order to improve the educational practices in the online environment, we used an analysis of students' perceptions (N = 150) from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, who expressed their opinion on online learning during the pandemic. For this, an online questionnaire was applied, which was completed both by students who had face-to-face experience and students who started their activity directly in the online learning environment. As a result, in this paper, we specify what students think about online learning, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of this way of teaching. In the research, special attention was paid to the analysis of the problems that students face in online learning, the opportunities they see in this environment, their adaptation to online teaching and the expectations they have from teachers. The analysis of the research results offered several conclusions, including the need to develop the adaptability of university teachers to the specifics of mediated by digital technologies teaching, the introduction of a more varied and frequent interaction with the students, creating conditions for the self-regulation of one's learning. Knowledge transfer is also a well known paradigm applied both for individuals and groups (networks). Mainly, the transfer of knowledge across individuals, groups and organizational units, is possible in our e-society, through repositories, e-learning platforms, social networks, specialized blogs, online courses etc. Self-learning, auto-didacticism, is based also on strong principles investigated by psychologists working for education. This is an opportunity to think of augmented intelligence: man-machine hybrid. Integrating human knowledge into machine learning portals will increase the robustness of machine learning, and provide explanations on selected decisions. In this paper we investigate a large plethora of learning approaches, self-learning models, domain adaptation techniques, and transferable approaches to machines in order to solve real life problems like detection, recognition,and understanding. The topics are common for people making use of emotional, behavioral, and cognitive self-regulation aspects. However, the machines have to learn more to discover the behavior of users, connected machines, and artificial messages received from an artificial environment. The transferred knowledge can be in the form of input data (signals), feature representations (extracted from signal), or model parameters (discovered through algorithms). Some concepts like self, non-self, convenient environment, sources of learning, adaptation to new domains, adaptation to new environments, and challenging transferable strategies are discussed in the first part. Apart from the economic and social impacts that the pandemic has created, there is a reluctance both to teachers and students in acceptingthe new educational system \"e-learning\" no matter their background. \u0000In particular studens have to deal with several types of environmental, electronic and mental struggles due to COVID-19. To cope with the new changes, Transilvania University of Brasov has improved its two online platforms \"intranet\" and \"e-learning\" to ensure that all students benefit from education.\u0000 This study focuses its attention on the need to guarantee the continuity of the educational process in such a crisis situation. It highlights the positive and negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in higher education institutions especially in the case of Law schools.
