Effects of pH, contact time, and initial MB concentration were investigated. Isotherm models, such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Sips, and Dubinin-Radushkevich, were applied to estimate the adsorption in nature. The results indicated that the Sips and Freundlich models gave the best fit with experimental datas. The maximum adsorption capacity of MB calculated from Langmuir was 39.87 mg/g at 306K, pH = 11, and time = 60 min. The E value evaluated from Dubinin-Radushkevich smaller than 8 kJ/mol indicated that the MB adsorption of JA followed a physical process.","PeriodicalId":23507,"journal":{"name":"Vietnam Journal of Catalysis and Adsorption","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74900765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The synthesized Ag/CuO nanomaterials were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), surface area analysis (BET). Two factors influencing the synthesis of materials such as time of chemical reduction, concentration of silver nitrate were studied. The results showed that silver crystals were introduced into the CuO nanosheets. The BET specific surface area of the obtained Ag/CuO nanomaterial is 113.47 m2.g-1. Carbon-based materials and carbon nitride have drawn a lot of interest owing to their physical and optical properties.  Herein, we reported a new way to modify carbon nitride with resorcinol-formaldehyde resins, a member of phenolic resins, to enhance their photocatalytic activity. The length of time to polymerize resorcinol-formaldehyde resins was investigated as it had a great impact on the characteristic features as well as the photocatalytic performance of the resulting materials. SEM images revealed that RF resins appeared as nano-fragments and were deposited densely on the surface of carbon nitride. On the other hand, the deposition of RF on the surface of carbon nitride had a great influence on the BET surface area values. For photocatalytic performance, all the modified samples exhibited significantly improved photocatalytic activity towards Methylene Blue (MB). The optimal sample was RF@CN10, which the reflux time was 10 hours. This sample has a more broaden absorption spectrum and a narrower bandgap energy (2.66 eV) than the pure carbon nitride.  With regard to photocatalytic activity, this sample could completely degrade MB in the solution within 40 minutes, but it had poor efficiency when visible light was absent. Additionally, the catalyst could work effectively in neutral and alkaline conditions and could be reused for 5 cycles. Finally, the hypothesis for RF-carbon nitride cross-linking and the synergistic effect in the catalyst had been proposed.","PeriodicalId":23507,"journal":{"name":"Vietnam Journal of Catalysis and Adsorption","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89412152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These synthesized materials have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR Spectroscopy), to investigate their crystal phase, morphology and chemical compositions. The synthesized WO3/g-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction exhibited novel photocatalytic activity for the degradation of Tetracyline even under visible light. This was due to photo-excited electrons in the conduction band of WO3 transferred to the valence band of the g-C3N4 preserving electrons in the conduction band of the g-C3N4 and holes in the valence band of WO3. These electrons and holes would react with oxygen and water to produce oxidative radicals for effective degradation of Tetracycline. The synthesized WO3/g-C3N4 photocatalytically degraded approximately 56 % Tetracycline 10 ppm when it was irradiated by visible light of 32 W for 90 mins.","PeriodicalId":23507,"journal":{"name":"Vietnam Journal of Catalysis and Adsorption","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86482721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The obtained materials were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectra (IR), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS). The UV-vis DRS results showed that CNCS-1:1, CNCS-1:3 and CNCS-1:5 materials possess bandgap of around 2.31, 2.25 and 2.28 eV, respectively. The photocatalytic activity of the materials was assessed by degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light. Among the three materials, CNCS-1:3 exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity of the CNCS-1:3 (or g-C3N4/CdS) composites compared to single components, g-C3N4 and CdS was observed, which can be attributed to the reduction of combination rate of photogenerated electron – hole pairs in the composites.","PeriodicalId":23507,"journal":{"name":"Vietnam Journal of Catalysis and Adsorption","volume":"70 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91370137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The morphology and adsorption properties of samples were studied through high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) and UV-Vis absorption spectra. The UV-Vis absorption spectra showed that the typical absorption peaks at 234 nm and 342 nm and 640 nm were characteristic of the N-GQDs materials. HR-TEM image showed that the average size of N-GQDs is about 5 nm. Compared with the absorption peak at 342 nm (strongest absorption peak) of N-GQDs, the absorption peak of N-GQDs·Fe3+ shift towards lower wavelengths at 295 nm, which is due to the complexation between hydroxyl, carboxyl, pyridinic nitrogengroups of the N-GQDs and Fe3+ ions.
