To address these demands, distributed and parallel processing in embedded systems is becoming a requirement. So it is essential to do research on algorithm and the parallel programming in the parallel embedded system. MPI (message passing interface) is one of the most important parallel programming standards. Porting MPI to the embedded system will enhance application portability and make parallel programming much easier. This paper presents a novel design and implementation of MPI based on link DMA for DSP-based systems. Through computation the value of and PingPong, the results show that the implementation is suitable for parallel programming, especially suitable for large volume of data.","PeriodicalId":231129,"journal":{"name":"2008 Fifth IEEE International Symposium on Embedded Computing","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127200927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the algorithm, the state feedback control method in modern control theory is introduced to keep the access states of nodes stable. To build the control model, we use the forecast mechanism to predict active nodes, and define the access state of measure system through polling access times and total access times. This paper describes the principle and process of feedback control in the algorithm in detail. Finally, we select 3 initial states to simulate different collision probability which means the collision ratio in whole communication. The simulation result proves that in both low and high collision probability this scheduling algorithm avoids the communication contention among nodes and keeps the access states of nodes stable and convergent.","PeriodicalId":231129,"journal":{"name":"2008 Fifth IEEE International Symposium on Embedded Computing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127290550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the need of external control, active medical MEMS containing autonomous locomotion started to appear with power cable connections to replace in sufficient batteries. Unfortunately, power cables cannot be used in medical practice. As such, wireless power transmission for active MEMS is a must for interests of both researchers and doctors. In this paper, we present a design of a wireless power transmission mechanism to drive a micro brushless DC motor whose small size fits MEMS. Though the power transmission is done at a working frequency of RFID, the power supply system in this paper to drive a motor witha much larger current is different from the one in RFID tags. The power transmission system consists of an antenna, an impedance matching network circuit, a rectifier circuit cum voltage multiplier, and a LDO (low drop out voltage regulator). Both mathematical analysis and simulations based EDA tools are carried out to verify the system design. The RF part of the system is simulated with Agilent ADS tools, while the DC part, i.e. the LDO based on MOSFETs, is simulated by Cadence Spectre with a TSMC 0.18um technology library. Both simulation results and mathematical analysis show that the micro motor is able to receive sufficient power to work in vivo in real time.","PeriodicalId":231129,"journal":{"name":"2008 Fifth IEEE International Symposium on Embedded Computing","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122132649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the development of USB key chips, more and more security features will be supported by USB key. Network security middleware is a Java and HTTP-based development framework on USB key. Developers can develop and on line load network security-related programs on this framework. End users can use this USB key to establish secure network connections. In our design, USB key became an active secure device on network. Design and implementation of this middleware is given in this paper. At first, the software architecture and security features of this middleware are discussed in detail, which includes how to implement HTTP server, CGI, security proxy etc. on USB key. Secondly, application scenarios and security analysis of mutual authentication between Web server and client on this middleware are given. However, a fixed frame concealment pattern cannot always meet the actual priorities among frames. In this paper, we propose a novel rate-distortion optimized video frame dropping scheme, where the frame concealment pattern is dynamically determined according to the side information sent along with video data. The output of the proposed frame dropping scheme contains not only an optimal frame dropping pattern, but also a frame concealment pattern. Simulation results show that the quality of the reconstructed video in the receiver is greatly improved by the frame concealment pattern for the dropped frames, at the cost of a little overhead in side information.","PeriodicalId":231129,"journal":{"name":"2008 Fifth IEEE International Symposium on Embedded Computing","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124758970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
