Hossain","doi":"10.36777/ijollt2022.5.2.055","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.36777/ijollt2022.5.2.055","url":null,"abstract":"Speaking is one of the skills that human beings use to communicate with one another expressing their ideas.\u0000Speaking in English to interact in the classroom with the students and teachers has always been a challenge in rural\u0000areas’ tertiary level education. The aim of this research is to explore the problems of using English to interact in the\u0000classroom at English study program in rural areas’ tertiary level education. This research used qualitative research\u0000with descriptive qualitative research design. Sixty students were chosen via purposive sampling from first semester\u0000till seventh semesters at tertiary level of a private university which is situated at a rural area in Bangladesh.\u0000Questionnaire which consisted 21 items was distributed to collect data from the participants. The data analysis\u0000shows that there were many problems in using English as the medium for classroom interaction at tertiary level\u0000because of some influential factors such as; affective factor, sociocultural factor, age or maturational constrains,\u0000aural medium, professional versus academic, environment, learning community. It is difficult to use English in\u0000classroom interaction without solving the problems by all the stakeholders. Translation is\u0000the expression of one language in another language, and the output of this language includes the thinking rules,\u0000habits and transfer of ideas of the source language. English translation is an important method to improve\u0000English application ability and promote cultural exchange. Any misunderstanding and misuse of the translation\u0000will undoubtedly cause negative effects. This paper is intended to explore some effective translation strategies\u0000and techniques for translating Chinese cultural words. In this regard, translators need to have an in-depth and\u0000comprehensive understanding and mastery of the Chinese and Western cultures.
