Several mechanisms are put forward. Whether In Vitro Fertilization-Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET) program in endometriosis is a solution to improve the fertility still needs further studied. Objective : To compare the output of IVF-ET between endometriosis infertility and that of non-endometriosis infertility. Methods : This research is non experimental research with case control design. A retrospective approach with secondary data was conducted in 2017. The samples are fifty endometrial infertility patients and fifty infertility tubal factor and or sperm undergoing IVF-ET program at Permata Hati Clinic, Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta. Results : The research output is fertilization rate, i.e. a number of good quality embryo and the success of pregnancy based on pregnancy test. Data analysis was done by statistical test of T test and Chi Square. Multivariate analysis was done by logistic regression. Characteristics of both study groups are similar: in terms of age, BMI, duration of infertility, basal FSH, basal E2, stimulation type and gonadotropin needs. A number of good quality embryos in endometriosis group is lower (2.34 ± 2.33 vs 3.44 ± 2.97; p <0.039), but the fertilization rate is the same (48.58 ± 27.16 vs 55.19 ± 30.9; p > 0.259). Compared to non-endometriosis, endometriosis group has bigger risk of pregnancy failure (OR 3.758; CI95% 1.1112.68; p <0.03). Conclusion : There is no difference in fertilization rates between endometriosis and non-endometriosis. The number of good quality embryo on endometriosis group is lower than non-endometriosis. Pregnancy failure on endometriosis group is higher than non-endometriosis group.","PeriodicalId":227928,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Third International Conference on Sustainable Innovation 2019 – Health Science and Nursing (IcoSIHSN 2019)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122757092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is suggested that testosterone (T) may contribute to cardiovascular events, which is initiated by platelet adhesion, activation, and aggregation. Endothelial cells (EC) prevent platelet activation by synthesizing and releasing thromboregulator, such as prostacyclin (PGI2). The activity of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme is necessary for the conversion of arachidonic acid into PGI2. COX exists in two isomers: COX-1 and COX-2. This study aimed to examine the influence of T on the expression of endothelial COX-2 in either normal glucose (NG) or high glucose (HG) environment. An in vitro study using human umbilical vein endothelial cells culture (HUVEC) was performed in this study. With the 2x4 factorial designs, HUVEC was exposed to T in incremental doses: 0, 1, 10 and 10 nM in either NG (5.6 mM) or HG (22.4 mM) medium. Expression of COX-2 was measured using immunocytochemistry. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance for 2x4 factorial designs. P-value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. There was a main effect of either T or glucose medium to the percentage of EC that positively stained with the anti-COX-2 antibody. Moreover, there was an interaction between T and glucose medium to the percentage of EC that positively stained with the anti-COX-2 antibody. In conclusion, testosterone increases the expression of COX-2 enzyme in resting endothelial cells (normal glucose environment) but decreases significantly the expression of COX-2 enzyme in activated endothelial cells (high glucose environment). Theoretical propositions and observed findings on death concept have not been thoroughly examined in nursing researches specifically those coming from the elderly’s point-of-view. This theory generation utilized the grounded theory methodology via inductive approach to theory development that would explain the death experience, consciousness and acceptance towards death in an individual’s lifetime. Data were gathered from the older population using purposive sampling. Interviews were semi-structured and based on the death perception and experiences of the older participants. Both memo writing and comparative analysis were used during the course of the study, aided by the method of open, axial and selective coding. Theoretical categories were generated to derive the following propositions: Overcoming death experiences results to death acceptance; death consciousness influence death acceptance; death acceptance lead to the process of death preparation; and spirituality is an essential element of death experience, death consciousness, death acceptance and death preparation. The theory generated is that death acceptance is an accumulation of death experiences and one’s spiritual beliefs which translate to death consciousness that results to the acceptance of one’s mortality gearing towards death preparation.
