However, currently, they prefer getting something instantaneously without considering the quality. The fact attracted researcher to investigate how to make them back to basic character. This paper analyzes a model of discourse and how to implement it at university level. Therefore, six lecturers who taught at English Department at Teacher College Sumatera Barat, which is called STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat, along with their students, were selected as participants. They were selected purposively. Data were collected by using video recording and by interviewing them and analyzed by following qualitative analysis. Findings can be described that SHARINGPLUS (Stimulating, Handled with consensus, Appropriateness-based, Revising, Illustrating, Negotiating, Goal-oriented, Patient, Loving, Unforgettable, and Sympathetic) model is appropriate to apply when communicating learning tasks to Minangkabaunese students. Therefore, those who want to make students study hard can adapt the model based on the existing situation and condition.","PeriodicalId":225591,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Sixth of International Conference on English Language and Teaching (ICOELT 2018)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115095549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The subjects of the research were 15 students who had passed all reading and writing courses. The instrument used in the research was paraphrasing test. The components which were used as the base to evaluate students‟ work were semantic completeness, lexical similarity, syntactic similarity and paraphrase quality. The students‟ works were graded by scoring rubric which was divided into 4 categories; 4 meant excellent, 3 meant satisfactory, 2 meant below average and 1 meant ineffective. The research findings showed that students‟ paraphrase quality was on ineffective category since almost all of the students obtained 1 on all dimensions. On semantic completeness dimension, almost all students obtained 1 which meant they were on ineffective category. On lexical completeness dimension, almost all students obtained 1 which also meant they were on ineffective category. Also, on the rest dimensions; syntactical and paraphrase quality dimensions, almost all of them obtained 1, which indicated that they were on ineffective category. It was expected that more concerns related students‟ paraphrase should be given.","PeriodicalId":225591,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Sixth of International Conference on English Language and Teaching (ICOELT 2018)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132381496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data for this study comprise twenty recording transcripts generated from twenty English lessons produced by five novice and five experienced teachers teaching at Junior High School and five novice and five experienced teachers teaching at Senior High School. The data were analyzed by identifying the discourse segments from the lowest rank to the highest using Sinclair and Coulhard’s classroom discourse structure model. The findings revealed that in the micro level the experienced teachers use IRF model then novice teachers. In addition, the teachers teaching Senior High School students produced more IRF model as compared to their counterparts in Junior High. In the macro level. The experienced teacher produced more complete segments for opening, body, and conclusion. In addition, the more experienced teacher produced more activities and exchanges. For overall performance, all teachers are weak in producing opening and closing segments, and also the producing the activities leading students to free communication.","PeriodicalId":225591,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Sixth of International Conference on English Language and Teaching (ICOELT 2018)","volume":"247 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114545923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
