Previously, advancements in chip technology meant an increase in clock speed, which was typically a benefit that computational code users could enjoy. This is no longer the case. In the new roadmaps for chip manufacturers, speed has been sacrificed for improved power consumption and the direction is multi-core processors. The burden now falls on the software programmer to revamp existing codes and add new functionality to enable computational codes to run efficiently on this new generation of multi-core processors. In this paper, a new roadmap for computational code designers is provided, demonstrating how to navigate along with the chip designers through the multi-core advancements in chip design. A new parallel out-of-core solver code termed HOBBIES using the Method of Moments (MoM) and higher order functions for expansion and testing will illustrate this roadmap. The advantage of a higher order basis over a subdomain basis is a reduction in the number of unknowns. This means that with the same computer resources, a larger problem can be solved using higher order basis than using a subdomain basis. It is illustrated how to solve a million by million complex matrix equation using a parallel out-of-core solver using modest computational resources.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124129009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared with other controlling methods, using reed switches could avoid the need of placing bias and control lines in the vicinity of the radiating elements and the attendant impacts on the antenna radiation performance. Simulated results show that the antenna can be reconfigured to operate in the frequency range from 1.7 GHz to 2.7 GHz. The proposed antenna is designed to radiate and transmit equal amounts of power. The return loss of the proposed antenna is higher than that desired for one-port antenna application at the desired dual-band frequencies. The antenna is fabricated on one side of a Neltec substrate (εr=3.2 and thickness = 0.762 mm) and the microstrip feeding line is fabricated on the opposite side of the board. The antenna was designed to operate at WLAN bands centered at 2.4 and 5.2 GHz. The simulated and measured results show fairly good agreement. The measured return losses were found 10 dB at 2.4 GHz and 14.5 dB at 5.2 GHz while simulated return losses were 8.57 dB at 2.4 GHz and 15.2 dB at 5.2 GHz. The radiation pattern is approximately omnidirectional at both frequencies in H-plane.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131986533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modeling of losses in SIW structures is discussed in details, and a new formula for the calculation of the attenuation constant due to radiation loss is introduced. In addition, an efficient technique for the modeling of arbitrarily shaped SIW components is discussed: this technique is based on the Boundary Integral-Resonant Mode Expansion (BI-RME) method. The BI-RME method permits the direct derivation of parametric and multimodal equivalent circuit models of SIW discontinuities, which can be adopted in the fast design of SIW components and systems.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129336217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Long read range handheld reader antennas have been usually packaged outside of the reader units in most cases due to the mutual coupling and environment effect. In the proposed antenna, we reduce such effects by placing MBFSS under the quasi yagi antenna, so that the antenna is packaged inside the reader module with long read range. The proposed antenna has been simulated and measured using some measurement setups. By sweeping the frequency response with narrow band signals and combining the envelopes of input and output signals, a wideband model of PA is observed. The model can be used as both wideband simulator and digital predistorter. Experiments are performed on a wideband PA. The PA is swept with 17 groups of 10M LTE signals at 30.72Msps sample rate. When verifying the wideband model with 40MHz LTE-A signal at 184.72msps, the normalized mean square error (NMSE) of the forward model is -32.77 dB. And the feedback model successfully eliminates the adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) of PA output signal from -30.3dBc to -45.5dBc when it is stimulated with 40M LTE-A signal.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133164823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 50-25Ω impedance transformer is firstly formed by directly tap-feeding this triple-mode resonator at its two different positions. The bandwidth of this impedance transformer can be properly controlled by changing the characteristic impedance of the two loaded stubs. Afterwards, a 3-dB power divider is constructed using this 50-25Ω impedance transformer as its two arms in parallel. The design parameters of the proposed power divider are analyzed and initially determined based on its equivalent ideal transmission-line model. Finally, a 3-dB power divider is designed and fabricated. In DM operation, a wide passband is designed from 4.0 GHz to 5.0 GHz with a fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 22% Under CM condition, controllable transmission zero is realized easily by adjusting the length of short terminated stubs. In addition, the DM responses are unaffected while the CM transmission zero is designed independently. A prototype differential BPF operated at 4.5 GHz with more than 45 dB average CM suppression in DM passband has been realized to validate the proposed concept and theory. However, it should be studied more to get the optimal antenna assignment in multiple-channel coordinated spectrum sensing for multiple antennae based cognitive radio networks when multi-antenna cognitive radios can flexibly select their antennae to apply spatial diversity reception. To solve this problem, we modeled it as an optimization problem with the constraint of the maximum false alarm probability of each channel and goal of minimizing the sum of misdetection probability over all the channels, and proposed two methods, branch and bound based method and greedy based heuristic method. The former can get the optimal strategy with high complexity, while the latter can reduce complexity obviously at the price of little loss of performance of detection and achieve a good trade-off between performance of detection and complexity.","PeriodicalId":225547,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2014)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126906606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

T o overcome this, we proposed two kinds of methods which can work together. They are the modified phase accumulation method (MPAM) and the optimal baseline pair method (OBPM). Modified phase accumulation method solves the problem caused by phase jump near ±π in analog phase detection structure in conventional phase accumulation method (CPAM). Taking the azimuth corresponding to one certain baseline pair as reference, OBPM outputs the azimuth and elevation corresponding to the highest accurate baseline pair. Simulation results show the effectiveness and correctness of these two methods. At last, we introduced the FPGA implementation about the two methods.
