The subjects were 38 patients with COPD. Egogram was used to evaluate their personality, and the differences between Phase I group and Phase II group were compared. As a result, it was suggested that FC (Free Child) was significantly lower in stage II group than I group, and emotional expression was poor when disease stage progressed. In addition, we examined the patientʼs overall personality by integrating the stages. As a result, CP (Critical Parent) and NP (Nurturing Parent) showed the highest scores, then the scores of A (Adult) and FC showed the same degree, and AC (Adapted Child) showed the lowest score. We suggested the characteristics of personality of COPD patients as follows. In other words, they were stubborn, also easy on themselves, and considered difficult to lis-ten to advice of others.","PeriodicalId":225008,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Health Promotion and Physical Therapy","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116738173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 71 elderly women were enrolled in this study (mean age, 73.2 years; standard deviation, 6.0). We assessed their physical and psychological functions. After clas-sifying the subjects as per the presence or absence of pain, we compare the two groups and multiple logistic regression analysis to clarify the factors related to low back pain. The inter-group comparison showed that the group with low back pain had significantly higher body weight, body mass index, fear-avoidance beliefs questionnaire (FABQ) score, and pain catastrophizing scale (PCS) score. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that FABQ and PCS was associated with low back pain. Moreover, multiple logistic regression analysis involving the lower items of PCS showed that low back pain depended on the FABQ score and the rumination of the PCS score. We recommend that psychological factors be considered when assessing elderly woman with low back pain.","PeriodicalId":225008,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Health Promotion and Physical Therapy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133116389","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Randomized crossover trial was conducted with 9 healthy volunteers. Blood pressure (BP) was continuously monitored via a cuff attached to the middle finger of the right hand. BP was measured in the following 3 positions: ① headrest elevation of 0 ° and backrest elevation of 30 ° , ② headrest elevation of 20 ° and backrest elevation of 30 ° , and ③ headrest elevation of 0 ° and backrest elevation of 50 ° . At any position, temporary blood pressure reduction was observed. Furthermore, the change in BP was much greater during backrest elevation of 50 ° than during backrest elevation of 30 ° . On the other hand, headrest elevation of 20 ° did not affect blood pressure fluctuation. These results suggested that the degree of backrest elevation affects blood pressure fluctuation.","PeriodicalId":225008,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Health Promotion and Physical Therapy","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128829667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relationships among their ability to adjust their walking speed and physical, attention, cognitive functions were analyzed, dividing the subjects into 2 groups: favorable adjustment: the speed increased as they walk as normal, slightly fast, and at their maximum speed, in this order; and poor adjustment: the speed when walking slightly fast was slower than that when walking as normal or faster than that when walking at the maximum speed. Among the 127 elderly persons, 50 (39.4%) were unable to adjust their walking speed to walk slightly fast. Compared those with poor adjustment, elderly persons with favorable adjustment showed markedly more favorable values when walking slightly fast and at their maximum speed. As there were no significant differences be-tween the groups in physical, attention, or cognitive functions, it may have been difficult for elderly persons with poor adjustment to sufficiently use their functions to adjust their walking speed.","PeriodicalId":225008,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Health Promotion and Physical Therapy","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131664958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The subject was over 65 years male patient who was hospitalized with aspiration pneumonia at was bedridden. It was compared with the partial assistance group and whole assistance group due to difference in independence of sitting up motion. The cross-sectional area (CSA) of the muscle was measured using the CT image of the trunk muscle. In addition, the area based on the CT value of the muscle or fat in the measured CSA was measured as %FCSA and %IMF. The result of the whole assistance group compared with the partial assistance group, there was a significant decrease in erector spinae muscle CSA. In % FCSA, there was a significant lower of the abdominal oblique muscle group, quadratus lumborum muscle, the multifidus muscle, and the erector spinae muscle. In %IMF, there was a significant higher in all muscles except for the rectus abdominis muscle. Based on the results, the qualitative difference in the trunk muscles of the whole assistance group compared with the partial assistance group showed the possibility of being related to the independence of sitting up motion.","PeriodicalId":225008,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Health Promotion and Physical Therapy","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127650628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There were no sex differences in any gait parameter. The gait speed, cadence, and stride and step lengths significantly increased, and the stance, double-support, and swing phases markedly shortened when walking at their maximum compared with normal gait speed. The cadence (d=1.84) and temporal factors (d=1.51~1.88) showed larger effect sizes than distance factors (d=0.74~0.81). Furthermore, the normal gait speed was significantly correlated with 6 parameters: the cadence, stride and step lengths, and the durations of the stance, double-support, and swing phases, while the maximum gait speed was only correlated with 4 parameters: the cadence, the durations of the stance, doublesupport, and swing phases. Based on the results, it may be unnecessary to consider sex differences when evaluating infant gait. The usefulness of strategies to increase the step and stride lengths for improved gait was also suggested.","PeriodicalId":225008,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Health Promotion and Physical Therapy","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134057256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

[Methods] This cross-sectional study included 99 participants with chronic neck pain, of whom 35 had a traumatic onset and 64 had a non-traumatic onset. The participants completed the questionnaires on Neck Disability Index (NDI), pain intensity, pain duration, Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), and Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK). Differences in ordinal data between the groups were determined using the Mann-Whitney U test. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis (stepwise method) was used for examining the relative contribution of each variable to disability. [Results] The traumatic group had significant symptoms for a shorter duration of pain as compared with the non-traumatic group. The multiple regression analysis revealed that the NDI can be significantly predicted by catastrophizing and pain intensity. [Conclusions] This study suggests that in the patients with chronic neck pain, catastrophizing was associated with disability, regardless of traumatic or non-traumatic onset.","PeriodicalId":225008,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Health Promotion and Physical Therapy","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125295251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
