These systems may be difficult to transport and not well suited to perform measurements in confined environments. Moreover, they can require long acquisition times. Being autonomous, compact and fast, the scanning system proposed in this article aims to overcome these constraints. It makes it possible to map the electromagnetic environment directly on site or in locations difficult to access, such as inside a vehicle for example. This scanner is composed of a smartphone coupled to removable EM field sensors to allow covering different configurations. Using augmented reality technology, it has an interface that allows communication via an USB port between the smartphone and the various sensors. In this paper, the device is described and measurement results illustrating its potential are presented.","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132700803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Beyond the traditional 3D scanning of the radiating element, infrared thermography is an alternative way that may give key results in a reduced time, since a few seconds are sufficient to obtain the emitted field map even for a complex multi-cells antenna. This method, called EMIR (ElectroMagnetic InfraRed) has been developed and used for years at ONERA. We have recently extended this technique to the magnetic field, which will lead to a complete characterization of the near field structure. We illustrate this feature in the particular cases of antennas for space application and for a High Impedance Surface (HIS), a metamaterial structure that could be used to reduce the coupling between antennas confined in compact structures (typically size constraints of the spatial components).","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124401095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the realization of autonomous driving a large number of sensors is required. Due to the large amount of data needed for autonomous driving, the data rates of the conventional communication systems are not sufficient and therefore, new communication systems such as 100Base-T1 are implemented in the vehicle architecture. On the other side, in electric and hybrid electric vehicles, the electrical traction system operates at voltages beyond 400 V in close proximity to the sensors and communication lines. To ensure the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of the overall vehicle, the traction system is entirely shielded and isolated form the other vehicle systems. However, the communication channel for the automotive Ethernet is realized using unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable, which is prone to electromagnetic disturbances. As a result, the EMC coupling between these high voltage (HV) traction systems and the communication channels is an important aspect, which requires a comprehensive investigation. In this work a test setup consisting of an electric vehicle traction system is used in parallel to a 2-wire Ethernet communication via an UTP cable. The setup is used to investigate the impact of the disturbances from HV battery cables on the immunity and the signal integrity of the Ethernet communication.","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"215 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115750695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on these studies, in this work; RF coupling between two HF antennas on a shipboard platform is minimized by determining an optimal antenna placement. Unlike the other works, coupling is minimized not only at single frequency but over the whole frequency band of operation. Similarly, GAO and PSO, are used in order to determine optimal antenna placement. Throughout this work, outputs of two optimization techniques are compared with each other in terms of antenna placements and coupling results. At the end of the work, far-field radiation pattern performances of the antennas at their optimal places are analyzed in terms of directivity and coverage in order to see that.","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127106494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, the equivalent circuit parameters for simulating the electric field probe were estimated using approximate expressions of the probe with continuous wave (CW) signals. Then, these parameters were assigned to the equivalent circuit model to simulate AM signals. The detection response to the AM signals was examined using the probe gain. It was confirmed that the probe gain of the AM signals considerably deviated from that of the CW signals of the same power in the high-power-signal region. Moreover, it was also confirmed that the probe gain increases as the modulating frequency of the AM signals increases.","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"76 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126034160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed model is based on a machine learning approach. Specifically, it combines the least-squares support vector machine regression with a Gaussian process regression with the aim of predicting the first resonance frequency of a miscrostrip structure for different geometries and positions of a rectangular slit in the ground plane. The model is trained from a small set of costly electromagnetic simulations generated via a latin hypercube sampling scheme and provides also the confidence intervals of its predictions. The accuracy and the capability of the proposed modeling approach are demonstrated by comparing the model predictions and their relative confidence intervals with the results provided by a parametric full-wave electromagnetic simulation.","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"200 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116156372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The twist pitches of the MTB-TWP are considered to be spatial stochastic functions. Then, the parametric equations of the non-uniform MTB-TWP are derived in their general form. In addition, the effect of non-synchronism during the twisting and incomplete terminal twist on the common mode (CM) and differential mode (DM) currents are investigated. Moreover, to imitate the real life disturbances, the twist pitches are assumed to follow Gaussian stochastic noises. After that, Monte Carlo simulations are carried out, hence, it is shown that the DM currents are very sensitive to the geometry of the twisting whereas the CM current is slightly effected. The MTL model is validated in comparison with MoM results and good agreements are obtained.","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122669066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The screening effectiveness of unscreened balanced pairs can be measured in principle with the same test-set-up as for screened balanced pairs as near and far end coupling. It could be shown, that the screening effectiveness of a single unscreened balanced cable is equal to its unbalance attenuation whereas the screening effectiveness of multiple unscreened pairs, e.g. for data transmission is the sum of its unbalance and the screening effect of the remaining pairs not under test. At low frequencies, screening effectiveness of unscreened single and multiple balanced pairs can be described and measured as \"Low frequency coupling attenuation\".","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122819155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional synthesis method is complex, time consuming and requiring the designer being familiar with the antenna topology and techniques. With the development of artificial intelligence technology, the efficiency and accuracy of antenna synthesis can be improved with machine learning algorithms. In this paper, a novel hybrid machine learning model is proposed to synthesize antenna based on the performance requirements of the antenna, which requires a small number of training dataset and has higher accuracy than a single machine learning model. In this model, geometrical parameters analysis is first performed to select the parameters that have the greatest impact, which requires fewer samples for training. After parameters selection, we propose a new hybrid machine learning model to map performance characteristics onto the geometrical parameters. This model combines 10 different machine learning models (base learners) to improve the generalization performance of the entire model by learning the advantages of their respective base learner. The hybrid model possesses the best prediction ability with a satisfied mean square error (MSE) of 0.00456. Finally, the triangular pin-fed patch antenna is used to demonstrate the validity and efficiency of this proposed model.","PeriodicalId":225005,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"171 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122058096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
