Surveys stated that filtered - x - Least Mean Square (FxLMS) algorithm appears best choice for controller in adaptive filter. The researchers have the tendency to improve its performance by enhancing the existing algorithm modification of step size as well as the structure of the existing method In this paper, a soft threshold based FxLMS algorithm for impulsive noise is proposed. Here threshold selection is based on Stein Unbiased Risk Estimation (SURE). This new algorithm improves the stability by fast convergence in presence of heavy tail impulsive noise. To demonstrate the performance of proposed method, simulation is conducted using MATLAB compared with Akthar's algorithm.","PeriodicalId":224903,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International WIE Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115123335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reasons behind their growing popularity are their controllable electrical and optical properties. This control is achieved by tuning their bandgaps by changing their shape and size. But quantum effects are most prominent only within strong confinement regime. That is, the radius of the quantum dots are much less than the exciton Bohr radius of the bulk material of which the quantum dots are made. In this paper, we have studied the confinement effects on Indium Gallium Nitride, Gallium Arsenide and Cadmium Selenide quantum dots under strong confinement. We have calculated the possible range of tunable bandgap for each of them. We also calculated the range of wavelengths that can be captured by each of these quantum dots and compared them.","PeriodicalId":224903,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International WIE Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE)","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121428346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach involves formulating the functionals of the chosen objectives over the path and optimizing the same using Hybrid Simulated Annealing (HSA) algorithm for faster convergence to global minimum. The method generates smooth trajectories for the mobile manipulator without violating the non-holonomic constraint of the robot, which are optimized globally. Simulations of test cases are provided to establish the efficacy of the method in generating globally optimized trajectories.","PeriodicalId":224903,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International WIE Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126050321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed attitude controller is designed in such a way that it is robust to external disturbances. To prove the convergence of the attitude tacking error to zero, i.e., the actual attitude of the closed-loop system to reference attitude of RUAV, a control Lyapunov function (CLF) is formulated in every step of the design procedure which is ensured through the negative definiteness of the derivative of CLF. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller is tested using a high-fidelity simulation model by considering external wind gusts into the system. Simulation results illustrate the robustness of the proposed controller over an existing controller in terms of rejecting external disturbances.","PeriodicalId":224903,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International WIE Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124621628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Autonomous wheelchair is one of the major assistive systems proposed for the disabled people to meet their daily locomotion challenges. Different algorithm and techniques can be used to find the optimal path in these types of intelligent wheelchair to navigate from a source to destination. Notable change in performance can be observed while testing with different algorithms and techniques. As the real world scenarios are so dynamic, replication of different test cases each time with the changing specification of the intelligent wheelchair for study is a strenuous process. Simulation study helps to analyze the different characteristics and behavior of the intelligent wheelchair without much strain. In this paper we describe the detailed study of fixed path algorithm and behavior of the autonomous wheelchair using simulation technique. We hope that such systems would be of great help in the rehabilitation process of the people affected by disaster, conflicts etc. apart from supporting elders.","PeriodicalId":224903,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International WIE Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125358754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a scheme for classifying alcoholic and non-alcoholic subjects is developed based on autocorrelation domain feature extraction. In order to investigate the difference in characteristics of EEG signal recorded after exposing visual stimulus to alcoholic and non-alcoholic subjects, instead of using conventional narrow band filtering, high pass IIR filterwith zero phase distortion is used, which preserves Gamma band and all higher frequencies. Next the reflection coefficients of the filtered EEG signal are extracted by using the autocorrelation values in a recursive fashion. Instead of AR parameters, first few reflection coefficients are proposed as feature, which provide better feature consistency and noise immunity with reasonable computational burden. For the purpose of classification, K nearest neighbor (KNN) classifier is employed in leave one out cross validation technique. From extensive simulation on a publicly available EEG dataset, it is found that the proposed scheme can classify alcoholic and non-alcoholic subjects with a very highlevel of accuracy in comparison to some of the existing methods.","PeriodicalId":224903,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International WIE Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125879883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a choice of suitable partner for optimizing the resources and thereby, strengthening the cooperation in the wireless network. Nodes in the network forms a pair to compensate for each other's deficiency. These paired nodes share the resources owned by them amongst the pair and hence naturally remain in cooperation. This is achieved without the need of any outside stimulation like pricing, credit or reputation index. Exchanging the resources is an attractive technique to achieve mutual benefits and encourage cooperation among the nodes. In the proposed work nodes cooperating by exchanging bandwidth with relaying power. Simulation results show that the source node can increase its data rate in the range of 71% to 97% by assigning some fraction of its bandwidth to relay. The relay also earn benefit by getting additional bandwidth in terms of increase in its data rate from 12.5% to 97 % Based on this, an algorithm is developed for partner selection. The algorithm produces sub-optimal results as it considers the benefit of source and relay individually. It is found that in this framework, the sub-optimal procedure is more suitable.","PeriodicalId":224903,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International WIE Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128788553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm performs an optimal seam to determine the suture point which consequently is expertly camouflaged using the graded colour blending to create the vista. Exposure leveler is the pedestal on which the dual algorithms are juxtaposed. The individual Y components of each slice are normalized as the direct ratio of the maximum luminance averaged over the brightest source image. The graded colour blending performs a smooth transition over the seam by weighing the pixels colours as an inverse function of the square of the distance from the seam. The technique has been exhaustively verified on divergent image sequences which generate progressively transcendent sutures in both indoor and outdoor scenarios providing comparatively low values of mse (~11.18).","PeriodicalId":224903,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International WIE Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132976757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
