The extent to which the intensity of color is affected by the presence of metallic mordantshave been studied and also the effect of the concentration of each mordant on the natural dyes was investigated, and then the changes that took place on the color axes were screened, and then the fastness of the new dyes were studied after applying them to the woolen fabric. Introduction Mordants are mineral salts added to the dyeing process in order to provide chemical bonds between the natural dye and the fabric. They improve the color fastness of the fabrics to be dyed due to easily bonding with natural dye [1-4]. There are some transitional elements that were used in the past as a mordant, such as Cu and Cr, but they are not currently recommended due to their environmental damage. Therefore, these harmful elements were replaced by other environmentally friendly elements such as aluminum, iron which used as a mordants to reduce potential harm to human health [5]. Alum usually refers to a hydrated double sulfate of potassium hydrogen sulfate (KAl (SO4)2.12H2O), which confers evenness and brightness on dyed fabrics; iron saddens or dulls the color. Tin is particularly used to achieve brighter colors; however, it might damage wool by making it brittle and rough to the touch [6]. The mordant can be applied before, after or simultaneously with dyeing, forming methods known as pre-mordanting, postmordanting and simultaneous mordanting [7, 8]. Another agent used to improve the color fastness of natural dyes on textiles is tannic acid [9-11]. The use of tannin compounds dates back to the 18 century when the quality and utility of animal skins were enhanced through the tannin process [12]. Regarding the dyeing of cotton or wool fabrics, tannic acid forms a color lake with dye inside the fiber which fixes dye to fibers more strongly [6]. It improves the color stability of the tissues to be dyed due to the ease of its association with the natural dye. Experimental Metallic mordants. The wool fabrics dyed with D1, D2 and D3 dyes at the optimum values obtained as described before in our previouspaper [13]were mordanted with different mordant by simultaneous mordanting method. Ferrous sulphate, stannous chloride, potassium alumm. sulphate and copper sulphate were used as a metallic mordants. The procedure is based on the Griess reaction on 3,3`-dimethyl benzidine with nitrite in the presence of 1-naphthol in acidic media to form a yellow diazo dye, which shows absorption at lambda max 455nm. The formation of colored diazo dye is followed by extraction into the Triton X-114rich phase. Cloud point extraction method parameters such as surfactant amount, temperature, and incubation time are evaluated and optimized. The results obtained showed a very good linear range of 10-1250 μgL, with good regression coefficients (R) ≥ 0.9997 and a preconcentration factor of 12.5. The limit of detection (LOD) describes as 3SDblank/m, and the quantification limit (LOQ) describes as 10SDblank/m, where m is the slope of the calibration curve and they are equal to 7.50 and 22.71 μgL respectively. The recommended method can apply to determine the ultra-trace amount of nitrite in soil samples.","PeriodicalId":22429,"journal":{"name":"The Egyptian Journal of Chemistry","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87797713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The removal (dark reaction) and the photo-decolorization ( photoreaction) of azo carmosine dye (E122) as a food dye in an aqueous solution using Rutile- TiO2 and UV-A light were investigated in this work. Various parameters such as oxidant agents and temperature were determined. In dark reaction, the adsorption capacity and percentage of carmoisine dye removal elevated with depressing of the temperature. This dark reaction of carmoisne dye is exothermic, physical adsorption, less random, non-spontaneous, and quick response with low activation energy. The maximum value removal % is reached to 86 % when addition mixing of Fe(II) and H2O2 to dye solution. In photoreaction, the same oxidant agents were applied in the dye solution and found the reaction is a pseudo-first-order kinetic, exothermic reaction, fast (low activation energies), less random, and spontaneous. The maximum percentage of decolorization with the addition of mixing of Fe(II) and H2O2equal to 64.28% at 30 min.","PeriodicalId":22429,"journal":{"name":"The Egyptian Journal of Chemistry","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87886385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
