Samples were treated with different gases including argon (Ar), oxygen (O2), nitrogen (N2) and Ar/O2 mixture using low-pressure dc glow discharge. Films of about 300 nm were fabricated by simple deposition of polyaniline suspension in toluene on glass slides. UV-Vis spectrophotometric measurements of the prepared films showed that plasma treatment resulted in a significant increase in the optical band gap of the films. Plasma treatment was found to increase the band gap energies range from (1.7–1.98 eV) of the untreated films to 1.8-2.42 eV of the treated ones. Exposure to oxygen plasma was found to alter the chemical composition of the films and thus, resulting in a high transmission (over 85%) of the peak centred at 550 nm. This increases the photoelectric performance of the plasma treated polyaniline films","PeriodicalId":22429,"journal":{"name":"The Egyptian Journal of Chemistry","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78642934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A compound was isolated from the bark of P. scandens and the structure was characterized as Octyl isonicotinate (1) by extensive NMR, FT-IR and mass analysis. Compound 1 exhibited significant antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and Candida albicans by Agar well diffusion method with zone of inhibition value of 9.16±0.28 mm and 12.5±0.51 mm, respectively compared with standard Amikacin (19.33±0.57) and Fluconazole (15.9± 0.12). The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values were found 12.30 µg/mL and 6.50 µg/mL respectively as compared to Amikacin (4.37 µg/mL) and Fluconazole (7.5µg/mL).","PeriodicalId":22429,"journal":{"name":"The Egyptian Journal of Chemistry","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78866043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Waste cooking oil was glycolyzed utilizing polyethylene glycol 400, 600 and 1000 gm to allow the glycolyzed products (GWCO-400, GWCO-600 and GWCO-1000). The prepared additives were utilized as emulsifiers to form metal working fluid application in presence of cooking oil, castor oil, and Jatropha oil as environmentally friendly oils. The outcomes demonstrated great soundness of the prepared water-vegetable oils emulsions. The pH, specific gravity, kinematic viscosity at 40 oC, surface tension, and anticorrosion tests of the obtained MWFs gave acceptable results compared to several working fluids formulations.","PeriodicalId":22429,"journal":{"name":"The Egyptian Journal of Chemistry","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91518344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this present research molecular modeling approach was applied on several derivatives of thiazole bearing Schiff base to design safe and effective compounds. These derivatives were docked inside the crystal structure of cyclooxygenase enzyme (COX-1 and COX-2) to evaluate the binding potency of each one with the active site of enzyme. Also, we used density functional theory (DFT) by applying energies evaluation of the highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMOs) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (LUMOs) in order to identify the reactivity parameter. Furthermore, root mean square deviation (RMSD) tool was used which shows an important role in the comparison of different conformers of the same ligand and it means a similarity measure vastly utilized in analysis of macromolecular structures and dynamic.","PeriodicalId":22429,"journal":{"name":"The Egyptian Journal of Chemistry","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88267792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
