Not only does it address the mis-specified problem of the SPRT based MMHT method (MMSPRT), but it also can be expected to provide most efficient detection in the sense of minimizing the maximum expected sample size subject to error probability constraints. Specifically, we proved the theoretical validity of 2-SPRT for the problem of testing hypotheses with multivariate normal densities. Moreover, we present a method of forced independence and identical distribution (i.i.d.) to optimally map the non-i.i.d. likelihood ratio sequence to an i.i.d. one, by which we solve the problem of SPRT and 2-SPRT for dynamic systems with a non-identical distribution. Finally, 2-MMSPRT's asymptotic efficiency is also verified. Performance of 2-MMSPRT is evaluated for model-set selection problems in several scenarios. Simulation results demonstrate the asymptotic effectiveness of the proposed 2-MMSPRT compared with the MMSPRT.","PeriodicalId":223665,"journal":{"name":"2015 American Control Conference (ACC)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133481007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in the case of overactuated systems, there is an opportunity to achieve these objectives simultaneously. This paper presents a simultaneous identification and adaptive control design methodology for overactuated systems which is applied to the torque regulation problem for permanent magnet synchronous machines. Excitation and control inputs to the system are first designated. The excitation input is then treated as a disturbance which is decoupled from the regulated output via an excitation decoupling control law. Machine parameters are estimated with a normalized gradient-based algorithm, and necessary conditions for parameter convergence are established. Simulation results confirm the necessary conditions for parameter convergence, as well as the effectiveness of the resulting closed-loop torque regulator.","PeriodicalId":223665,"journal":{"name":"2015 American Control Conference (ACC)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133696486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To the purpose, a controller selecting the video bitrate from a discrete set ℒ has to be designed. The control goal is to maximize the video bitrate while avoiding playback interruptions and minimizing video bitrate switches. In the literature two different approaches, which we name rate-based actuation and level-based actuation, have been explored. The first one adapts both the received rate and the video bitrate, whereas the second acts only on the video bitrate. In this paper we advocate the adoption of level-based actuation controllers and we propose a hybrid dynamical system that models the essential features of such a class of controllers. With this model we are able to derive the minimum obtainable video bitrate switching frequency which can be considered as a benchmark for any level-based actuation controller. Finally, we show how to design the video level set ℒ to obtain a performance trade-off between switching frequency and storage cost requirements at the servers. The theoretical results are validated through numerical simulation and experimental evaluation.","PeriodicalId":223665,"journal":{"name":"2015 American Control Conference (ACC)","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132700961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Contrary to the current state-of-the-art, however, the controller proposed herein is static, i.e., it does not require the implementation of adaptive laws, and further it does not incorporate neural networks or other approximating structures. In this respect, certain control design difficulties, including the selection of the neural network size or the vast amount of neural parameters, are effectively relaxed. Simulations are performed to verify and clarify the theoretical findings.","PeriodicalId":223665,"journal":{"name":"2015 American Control Conference (ACC)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132710453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We prove that, on a finite time interval, the trajectories of the slow variables can be well approximated by those of a system with reduced dimension as the singular perturbation parameter becomes small. In particular, we show that when this parameter becomes small the first and second moments of the reduced system's variables closely approximate the first and second moments, respectively, of the slow variables of the singularly perturbed system. Chemical Langevin equations describing the stochastic dynamics of molecular systems with linear propensity functions including both fast and slow reactions fall within the class of SDEs considered here. We therefore illustrate the goodness of our approximation on a simulation example modeling a well known biomolecular system with fast and slow processes.","PeriodicalId":223665,"journal":{"name":"2015 American Control Conference (ACC)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128882411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to achieve a robust performance for the converter's current and voltage output responses against the uncertainties, this paper proposes the use of a robust cascade controller based on a reduced-order proportional-integral observer (PIO). In the proposed design, a cascade approach is adopted, where an integral-proportional (IP) controller and a proportional-integral (PI) controller are constructed to set a nominal, desired dynamic response for the closed-loop system. A theoretical analysis, based on the singular perturbation theory, is presented, to confirm the desired approximation of the augmented system with the PIO to the nominal system without the uncertainties. Simulation results suggest that the additional compensation using dual PIOs can be effectively used to improve the robust performance against load change, input voltage variation, and parametric uncertainties.","PeriodicalId":223665,"journal":{"name":"2015 American Control Conference (ACC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127865660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually, an optimal schedule is computed by a central authority (called mediator) according to the specifications reported by the users. A desirable property of this procedure is to ensure that participating users truthfully report their specifications rather than maliciously manipulate the scheduling process by misreporting. In this work, we show that approximate truthfulness can be attained by adopting the popular notion of (joint) differential privacy. Joint differential privacy can limit the power of each user in manipulating the scheduling process by remaining insensitive to changes in user specifications. As a result, a user does not benefit much from misreporting his specifications, which leads to truth-telling behaviors.","PeriodicalId":223665,"journal":{"name":"2015 American Control Conference (ACC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115338000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in view of the increasing wafer stage bandwidths the need for an additional reticle-to-wafer stage controller becomes more evident, i.e. a cross-coupling controller. By itself, this has severe implications for the stability and control design of the synchronized system, which becomes multivariable. In this work, an ℋ∞ controller is synthesized that can effectively deal with the synchronization problem while guaranteeing robust closed-loop stability. An application of the ℋ∞ design will be given through measurement results obtained from an industrial wafer scanner.","PeriodicalId":223665,"journal":{"name":"2015 American Control Conference (ACC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115977940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
