In this paper, we present an LCD-based method for calibrating an omnidirectional vision system with a parabolic mirror. We focus on calibration using one or more LCD displays. The calibration is implemented with a few images. Experimental results show that the reprojected error is less than half the error of the printed chessboard model. The system can be even calibrated with only one image and the parameter precision is still high. The method is economic and easy to implement.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121720718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The power system is a complex interacting network; advanced agent technology provides significant potential contribution to help human operators making the system robust. This paper presents an innovative multi-agent architecture of decision support system for the power system operation. Its functions and decision-making progress are also described. The multi-agent system is divided into three layers: the decision resource layer, the communication facilitator layer and the function agents layer. Each agent has its own knowledge base that comprises all the data and know-how to carry out its task and to handle interaction with the other agents and its environment. Hence, the theory of complex system management, the method of information collecting and knowledge discovery, the theory of power system, the experts' experience and powerful computer processing capability are integrated strongly into a multi-agent based man-machine cooperating system. Hence, the system will assist the dispatcher to analyze the power system operating status and make control decision quickly and correctly.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132376053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The image matching focuses on two key points: interest point detection and feature matching. However, due to the disadvantage brought by image scale, rotation and view change, the ability of feature matching falls off signally. This paper proposes a new image matching algorithm, which has good performances on image scale, rotation and view change. First, we bring forward a novel interest point detector called scale adapted Harris detector by selecting interest points at different levels of scales. Then we formulate the feature matching based on the Earth Mover's Distance (EMD). At the same time, we implement our proposed algorithm in a benchmark dataset. The experimental results demonstrate the proposed algorithm perform better than other methods in both recall and precision.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134427231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A model following control structure is adopted to follow the desired yaw rate and vehicle sideslip angle, which consists of feedforward and feedback controller. The feedback controller is designed based on the optimal control theory, minimizing the tracking errors between the outputs of actual vehicle model and that of linear reference model. Finally, computer simulations are performed to evaluate the proposed control system via the co-simulation of Matlab/Simulink and CarSim. Simulation results show that the designed 4WAS controller can achieve the good response performance and improve the vehicle handling and stability.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134450821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on our previous work in sensor localization, this paper introduces a mobility assisted localization approach guided by network rigidity for mobile robotic sensor networks. The rigidity test of a network is based on a pebble game algorithm, that decides whether the network is uniquely localizable or not. If its local network is not uniquely localizable, the mobile node circles around its original position to collect at least two extra ranging data with each of its neighbors while recording its trajectory using odometer. We prove that the extra data with robot trajectory will make the local network uniquely localizable. The local maps of all the nodes are then merged into a globally consistent map. We evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach using two examples of low-degree networks and four types of topologically different networks.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134311454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the objectives of the capsule endoscope robot is to wirelessly transmit as many captured images as possible, so an efficient representation and compression technique is required. In this paper, we present image representation and compression techniques for the capsule endoscope. First, the characteristics of the capsule endoscopic images are investigated. Secondly, the Cartesian, polar coordinate, and expanded square representations of the circular image are discussed. Then special DPCM, wavelet compression techniques are applied to get high compression ratio and signal to noise ratio.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130858025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes an approach that integrates the representations of uniform grids and Voronoi diagrams to build the complete graph in complex environment for multi-objects. It firstly generates an initial Voronoi diagram with respect to the obstacle regions in the cost-changing and complex environment on top of grid-based maps. We then uses the techniques from path planning to make modifications by partitioning the obstacles into coherent regions and updating the Voronoi diagram considering the relationship between objects and obstacles. Finally the complete graph is built from the modified Voronoi diagram. Throughout the simulation, such a method of building the complete graph could make the outcome of path planning better compared with the complete graph from Euclidean distance.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130922436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a three-step procedure. Firstly, PPFFT is performed to the image. Then, by using the magnitude of PPFFT, a cost function is designed. Lastly, an optimization algorithm called SWCSA is applied to obtain registration parameters. With PPFFT, the complexity of computation is significantly lower and the speed is faster. Because of the optimization algorithm used, the processing accuracy of our method is higher than that of phase correlation algorithm (PCA). Experimental results demonstrate that the speed of the proposed method is two times faster than that of PDFT-PCA and the maximum registration error is less than 0.2°.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132852477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome the shortcoming of the traditional conflict resolutions for the ontology-based data integration system, this paper puts forward a new architecture called RCM, which provides an extensible mechanism in the descriptions of mapping formulas and constraints of conflicts between the global schema and the local schema. Grounded on the given model, an algorithm is proposed to deal with difficulties caused by data-level and semantic-level conflicts. It extracts formulas and constraints from mapping documents to analyze conflicts and then delivers them to corresponding handlers to modify the incorrect sub-queries. Thus, it identifies and resolves a variety of conflicts in heterogeneous databases so as to obtain the correct results of operations on the global schema. In addition, we present evaluation results to show that the model can be successfully used to implement the process of identifying and resolving conflicts.","PeriodicalId":223425,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Information and Automation","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133377972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
