There are few studies about the scheduling problem combining these two kinds of tasks. Moreover, only few results are available on scheduling non-preemptive strict periodic tasks since their performance analysis gives low success ratios, except in the case of harmonic tasks. Also, strict periodic tasks are of great importance since they are in charge for example of sensors/actuators or feedback control functions which are all critical in feedback control systems. Such tasks must have the highest priorities in order to guarantee a correct behavior of the control system. Preemptive sporadic tasks can be used for non critical functions and have lower priorities. We first investigate the scheduling problem of non-preemptive strict periodic tasks by recalling an existing schedulability condition. This results in defining the first release times of strict periodic tasks that preserves the strict periodicity constraints. We show that the schedule of strict periodic tasks can have transient and permanent phases. Then, assuming that some non-preemptive strict periodic tasks have been scheduled, we characterize the release times of the sporadic tasks that maximize their worst case response times. We prove that these release times can be restricted to the permanent phase. For preemptive sporadic tasks, we extend the classical worst case response time computation to take into account non-preemptive strict periodic tasks. Finally, we consider the particular case where some of the sporadic tasks are alternate tasks to primary strict periodic tasks for fault-tolerance.","PeriodicalId":222799,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114727760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, in the field of manufacturing of automatic packaging machines, it is common practice postpone the development of the control system until the mechanical part of the machine is finalized. This fact have rose the issue about simulation techniques to support the controller V&V at early development stage of the machine, to parallelize the development of the control and the mechanics. In particular, the Hardware in the Loop (i.e. the connection of the real controller with a simulated model of the machine) is currently under consideration by several researchers for provide support to the V&V of the system. These design considerations must provide a solution to non functional requirements that distributed applications nowadays demand (e.g. Hardware heterogeneity, real time requirements, energy constraints, security, safety or fault tolerance). This paper proposes a management platform for distributed component based applications that follow the SCA (Service Component Architecture) standard. This platform provides several functionalities that range from application deployment and life cycle control to QoS and fault tolerance support.","PeriodicalId":222799,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124832004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, we have added a data type semantic verifier to the MatlEC compiler - an open source ST, IL and SFC code translator to ANSI C. In so doing, we have identified several issues related to the definition of the semantics of the IL and ST programming languages, as well as with the data type model defined in IEC 61131-3. In this paper we describe the issues we uncovered, explain how the data type static analyzer of the MatlEC was implemented, explain the options we took, and suggest how the IEC 61131-3 standard could be made more explicit.","PeriodicalId":222799,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126739427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In these contexts, time-critical transmissions have to be supported by automation networks. In IEEE 802.11 standard protocol, one of most popular technologies for process control networks, Access Points (APs) are responsible for nodes connection. Timeliness of communications can be compromised by transmission of wireless nodes through overloaded APs. This paper shows a new dynamic Load Balancing approach that distributes network load in order to ensure, for each station, best possible performances in terms of soft real-time constraints, in an industrial process control scenario.","PeriodicalId":222799,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122389445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data conflicts occur when the values of distributed data copies are modified locally with different values causing data inconsistency. In order to restore data consistency, the values of distributed data copies have to be synchronized to the same value by resolving the conflicts. The conventional conflict resolutions do not consider the unique characteristics of RFID data and therefore are not able to maximize the benefit of information users or may even provide erroneous resolution result. In this paper, a data synchronization method with conflict resolution accommodated to RFID applications is proposed. The method resolves the conflicts based on multiple RFID data attributes and takes the dependent relationship between data into account. Simulations confirm the efficiency of the algorithm.","PeriodicalId":222799,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012)","volume":"307 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122802297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The changes in Pulse Transit Time (PTT) can be detected with the sensor network. The microprocessor gathers the PTT and other vital signs of the patient to derive changes in blood pressure. Through the new Bluetooth protocol for safety systems, the current blood pressure value can be sent to a variety of terminals present in the wireless network, such as mobile phone, PC and medical monitoring systems. The 1oo2 architecture of the used microprocessor can provide high safety to a rating of safety integrity level 3 (SIL3), thus the whole network can meet the safety required in medical care systems.","PeriodicalId":222799,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012)","volume":"431 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122929583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Modeling is particularly important in the initial phase of a joint project when all system requirements and constraints have to be clearly defined and understood by all the partners. Once an unambiguous structural model has been achieved and components interfaces fixed, design of components can be done independently. For the initial phase, a very simplified modeling methodology based on UML that can be easily understood and applied has been proposed. The application of the methodology has been presented through the design of full structural model of the infrastructure for precision farming. Modeled infrastructure is an open ICT hardware-software solution based on ISOBUS specification, that enables partial automation of tractors increasing safety and production efficiency. Model achieved through several steps presents a mutual understanding platform between the partners. Most importantly, a precise model has been achieved without the necessity of in deep study of UML by all the partners.","PeriodicalId":222799,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128219711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
