Descriptive research with a survey method of junior high school students in Central Java which focuses on the initial profile of environmental literacy understanding which includes aspects of understanding environmental literacy, the urgency of environmental literacy in learning and for students, constraint and obstacles and expectations for the future. with a total research sample of 156 students. The results showed that 71.9% of students considered environmental literacy to be very necessary, which means that the understanding of the importance of environmental literacy is very high but its implementation is still lacking because based on the data there are still some students who have not received environmental literacy learning. The results of this study can be the basis for further research by providing evidence of the importance of improving students' environmental literacy skills to develop their potential and can motivate students to solve problems in the environment.","PeriodicalId":222476,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th International Seminar on Science Education (ISSE 2020)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129975427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This type of research is a pre-experimental study with a comparative design of all groups. This research was conducted in class XI MIA 1 as the experiment class and class XI MIA 3 as the control class. Data collection methods are observation and test methods. The data analysis technique in this study used the MannWhitney U test analysis. The U test analysis results showed a significant difference from the learning treatment with worksheets assisted augmented reality. This shows that worksheets assisted by Augmented Reality is effectively used to improve students' verbal representation ability.","PeriodicalId":222476,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th International Seminar on Science Education (ISSE 2020)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116168838","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The researcher explored the learning process and the characteristic of teaching tools which usually used by teachers in public and private high schools in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive study was used in this study. The participants of this study were 16 (9 females and 7 males) chemistry teachers selected by purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire containing several aspects, such as teaching tools, characteristics of teaching tools, and teacher’s knowledge about the SSI. The questionnaire had been developed and validated before its use in this study. The data were analyzed descriptively. Based on the study of needs analysis showed that the teaching tools used by the teachers on acid-base topic were still less relevant to student life, did not train students' critical thinking skills, did not contain socio-scientific issues, and did not teach students to solve problems yet seen from various aspects. Hence, for the future, it is required to have SSI-based teaching tools on acid-base topics that can make learning more relevant, and train students' critical thinking skills.","PeriodicalId":222476,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th International Seminar on Science Education (ISSE 2020)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134436376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study used the survey method with Qualitative approach. This study used a random sampling technique for XI IPA class’s students. The data was collected through interviewing chemistry teachers and distributing questionnaires to students. The instrument was developed under the supervision of two experts. The results showed that there were no teaching materials in chemistry learning. Teaching materials used in schools are still in printed form. Therefore, the learning session had not followed the development of the 21st century globalization era yet. Innovative learning models were also rarely applied, and teachers only relied on lecture and discussion methods. Experimental learning was also rarely applied by teachers. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development of a guided inquiry-based electronic module with the help of a virtual laboratory needs to be applied so that students understand the concept of chemistry independently and experimental learning can be done virtually. The electronic module with the help of this virtual laboratory can be used whenever and wherever students want to practice in laboratory.","PeriodicalId":222476,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th International Seminar on Science Education (ISSE 2020)","volume":"123 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132480115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development model used is modified Borg & Gall with seven stages, namely the preliminary research stage and information gathering, the planning stage, the preliminary product development stage, the design validation, the main product revision, the main field testing, and the operational product revision stage. The data obtained were analysed using equations and interpreted in the interpretation of the validation results assessment score. This development results reveal the validity value of smartphone-based learning media by content experts and media experts. The validity of media expert’s states that it is valid for product development and the validity of material expert’s states that the content developed in learning media is very valid.
