An adaptive critic control algorithm is used to control the flow of electric power in the power train of a hybrid electric vehicle. This system consists of a fuel cell which serves as the primary power source, a flywheel/battery to recover regenerative power and provide power for acceleration, and separate motor/generators on each wheel; connected by an inverter which controls the power flow between the various components. This paper reviews developments in this respect. Many designs of knowledge-based and associated learning systems using the combination of NNs and FL abilities have been presented. Some methods for the integration of GAs with fuzzy systems are described. Afterwards, work on hybrid systems of GAs and NNs is discussed. The problem of moulding mixture composition was solved because the majority of casting defects are due to inappropriate mould quality. The original learning method and system architecture was designed to ensure simple interaction and maintenance of the knowledge base as well as unambiguous interpretation of its content. Elimination of the human factor was achieved with fully automated real-time data acquisition. This paper proposes a genetic algorithm for the automation of the search procedure and its implementation on a programmable logic controller (PLC). The details of this implementation are discussed, along with an example one carried out for the control of a plant simulation problem introduced by Eastman Chemical Co. The advantage of such an approach consists of automating the search for a good solution. The required output characteristics contain three modes of operation-constant-voltage, modified constant-power and constant-current. The proposed analogue solution is well proven in practical use and shows excellent performance. The digital solution is simulated and preliminary results predict its applicability. The fuzzy logic solution is outlined for constant-voltage and overload controllers. The deployment of valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries into telecom networks started an era of unbelievable problems and gradual deterioration of credibility. Battery condition monitoring has become a necessity, and not just a way to boost reliability. The behavior of a storage battery resembles, in many respects, that of human behavior, making it difficult or almost impossible to draw viable conclusions or to predict future behavior from the data obtainable. Among them neuro-pattern recognition, which means pattern recognition based on neural networks, has been given attention since it has classified various patterns like human beings. We adopt the learning vector quantization (LVQ) method to classify money. The reasons for using the LVQ are that it can process unsupervised classification data and treat a large amount of input data with a small computational burden. We construct the LVQ network to classify Italian Lira. First, linear ARX models are built in order to obtain information on the influence of the input variables on the output of the system. Therefore, nonlinear models based on feedforward neural networks (NNARX) are built using the information provided by the linear estimate. The fuzzy microcontroller works as coprocessor. It is possible to introduce, in an easy way, the mode required for temperature changes during the heating process. Researchers are trying to integrate different soft computing paradigms such as fuzzy logic, artificial neural network, genetic algorithms etc., to develop hybrid intelligent autonomous systems that provide more flexibility by exploiting tolerance and uncertainty of real life situations. Intelligent classification systems are the most well known attempts. In this work a neuro fuzzy feature selector has been designed which is capable of extracting information in the form of fuzzy rules from numeric as well as non-numeric (linguistic) data. Conventional MLP and a variation of it have been used as the neural models and their performance has been compared by simulation with two different data sets.
