Biskupska","doi":"10.7311/TID.13.2020.03","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7311/TID.13.2020.03","url":null,"abstract":"In the article, I present the content and the context of the foundation story of Wroclaw – created after 1945 in one of the largest and most destroyed cities which joined Poland after World War II (Polish Western and Northern Territories). The analyzed empirical material consists of personal documents – statements of Wroclaw residents written and submitted in 1966 for the competition entitled: “What does the city of Wrocław mean to you”. The most important element of this story about the creation of the city is the figure of a pioneer, shaped in the image of a mythical hero. Twelve contracts were examined, including sales contracts, construction contracts, lease contracts, rental contracts and employment contracts. The contract was defined as a text type. Aspects such as a text’s subject matter, function and structure are particularly important for the determination of its opening and its delimitation from the remaining parts of the text. The article illustrates the ways in which these elements determine the opening of the text. In the first part I concentrate on information texts and persuasion methods in media reports and communication. Together with it I present major concepts of reality construction in media. In the second part I characterize patterns of reporting by using selected TV news from public and commercial television channels in Poland. The pertinent persuasion strategies shall come into focus. Duda, Katarzyna Sujkowska-Sobisz","doi":"10.7311/TID.13.2020.04","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7311/TID.13.2020.04","url":null,"abstract":"The article analyzes communication strategies that reveal the knowledge of and power over a memory narrative connected to The Warsaw Uprising – one of the most crucial events for Poland, and in the history of World War II. The interviews carried out with insurgents and civilians – participants of the 1944 events, constituted the base for the research. Over 1,900 verbal activities of people conducting meetings with witnesses of history were subjected to a detailed review. The authors of the article were primarily interested in these activities’ influence on the shape of the memory narrative. On the one hand, I am interested in the question of what research potential lies in the analysis of minimum texts from a genological perspective and, on the other hand, what analysis criteria and categories from the field of genre studies could be relevant for the analysis of minimal texts. The present article discusses humorous content in German press, television, and Internet coverage from recent years, which has reinforced a negative image of Poland and Poles in German minds. The author undertakes the presented deliberations for two reasons. Perception, remembering and learning are important for the teaching process at the university regardless of the passage of time. Both the lecturer and the student are interested in the effective acquisition of content. Multimodality as an attribute of the prevailing products of contemporary culture should be the subject of interest for discourse linguistics.\u0000The author’s research goal is to examine the effectiveness of font colours used in academic Power Point slides.\u0000In a multimedia presentation as a form of a lecture, a public reception takes place, alongside listening with reading and watching. The synergy of the spoken word and the bit-based text occurs. The author puts forward the claim that colour can be a factor in supporting or losing the listener’s directional attention. The second claim is that a colourful area, or a background for a printed text, is different from the colour of the font used in a text that students are required to read and watch from a distance. \u0000When the lecturer stands in front of the audience, they can manage its attention through various means. One of them is visualization in the form of the font colour choice within the slide.\u0000The article is a proposal of a certain type of research, but the author also presents the results of an experiment. Its results allow to reject the dominant role of the text placed on the slide. The discussion is conducted on the example of the volume entitled The Thing. Conceptual and Cultural Aspects, edited by Teresa Dobrzyńskaand Raya Kuncheva (2018). The volume approaches the issues of perception and presence of material objects in the linguistic picture of the world, viewed from the perspective of various humanistic disciplines, such as philosophy, semiotics, linguistics and literature. This interdisciplinary research is also cross-cultural in character, being the result of the studies of Bulgarian, Polish and Slovenian scholars from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the New Bulgarian University, the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
