The transformations in business environment, shopping, and consumption behaviors are believed to be long-lasting after the pandemic era. Therefore, COVID-19 is a disruptive force. In this chapter, the authors analyzed the effects of COVID-19 on retailing industry as a result of changes in shopping behaviors. They discussed the evolution of multi-channel and omni-channel retailers, and they highlighted the changes in shopping behaviors due to COVID-19 on the basis of secondary data. Then they preceded a qualitative research and collected data via semi-structured in-depth interviews. They reported their findings in the last section of the chapter.","PeriodicalId":220947,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Threats and Impacts of Pandemics","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131126510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The COVID-19 outbreak, which affected the whole world in 2020, also increased the diversity and use of blockchain applications. The first coronavirus case in China and then declaration of COVID-19 by the World Health Organization as a pandemic caused countries to be extremely unprepared for this epidemic. The fact that the pandemic is felt in almost every area of daily life has forced individuals to digitalize their daily work and habits. In this study, the existing and innovative blockchain applications developed against the epidemic during the pandemic process will be discussed, and possible future opportunities will be mentioned.","PeriodicalId":220947,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Threats and Impacts of Pandemics","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114539090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study examines the determinants of public trust in governments and the associations between the preventive measures. It is also aimed to determine the protective measures that governments prefer to implement together by using association rules of data mining algorithms. By this means, double and triple action packages are presented. This study finds that basic characteristics such as education, health, and age are among the most basic determinants of trust in governments during the pandemic. The trust in government and opinions that measures taken are sufficient decreased as the education level increased. Considering the age criteria, this situation is the opposite. It is observed that women followed the preventative policies more strictly than men. It is also observed that public trust in governments is directly proportional to the development levels of countries.","PeriodicalId":220947,"journal":{"name":"Handbook of Research on Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Threats and Impacts of Pandemics","volume":"232 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121497871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
