Malay fabric often include various floral motifssuch as hibiscus, pitcher plant, rose and frangipani. These floral motifshave the potential to be stylized in more innovative and creative ways.Some designers and artists who are proficient in pattern design did notreceive a formal education in pattern design, but their expertise and skillsare impressive nonetheless. The quality and visual aesthetics of textiledesigns are highly dependent on the motifs created through skilled laborsand design. Floral motif is not only visually appealing, but also has itsown meaning and reflects the creative values of its designer. Floral motifsare representative of the affinity of Malay culture with nature. The question on howIslam came to Malay Archipelago is still debated and has yet to be explaineddefinitively. Throughout history, many entities have contributed in terms ofhow Islam came to be accepted, spread and practiced, and unltimately attainedofficial status in Malaysia. The role and contribution of royal institutions inspreading and protecting Islam is significant and well documented. This articleanalyses the role of the Pahang sultanate in spreading Islam in that state. Family is an important environment in influencing children’spsychological development. Therefore, the role of the family should be emphasizedin the production of children novels in order to be a guide to the audience of thereader. In the context of literary works, the immediate surroundings seen areindividuals who are directly connected with children. This analysis shows familyrelationships with other nearby environments that surround the character ofchildren in selected children’s novels. This study applies one of the principles inBronfenbrenner’s Ecological Theory (1979), a mesosystem for analyzing texts.The method used in this study is library method and text analysis. The findingsshow that family relationships with the immediate environment of childrenaffect the psychological development of children.
