The aperture of CCD lens is controlled to adapt the system to external lighting circumstances based of the average brightness values of the processed images. A SMD operator is used for focusing roughly and quickly in a large scale for obtaining the eye glints to control a pan-tilt unit for eye aiming and eye tracking, and regulating the focus of the lens. The FSWM operator is applied in the determined window to focus automatically for clear images. If the pupil can be extracted from the image, the average gradient of the edge points can be used for real-time focusing. Experiments show that this system can track the eye and acquire clear eye images in real-time.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123947901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we solve the problem by using a method based on the technique of view morphing, and construct a multi-camera based experimental free-viewpoint video platform to validate its feasibility. This method requires no setting up of dense cameras, therefore the system is easy to be established and controlled in practice, and the mount of data for processing and transmitting can also be reduced. Experimental results show that the effect of this method can satisfy the requirement of view generation for the system.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124220971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, when implementing a filter in hardware, the frequency characteristic can be degraded caused by finite word-length effect. In this paper, we formulate the filter design problem based on modified least square criterion in the frequency domain. Here the problem is expressed as quadratic form and we optimize the filter coefficients by using branch and bound method in discrete space. In the branch and bound method, we calculate the relaxation solution based on the Lagrange multiplier method and search in the domain in which good possible solutions exist. In this method, the stable solutions whose poles are all inside the unit circle are just acceptable, so the stability of the filter can be guaranteed. Finally, numerical example is given to illustrate the utility of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125395139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper develops a rapid antenna selection method for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) diversity systems which use maximum ratio transmit (MRT) at the transmitter and Maximum Ratio Combine (MRC) at the receiver. In this method, at each step, a new antenna is added to the selected antenna subset to make sure that they can provide the largest SNR gain. Comparing to the optimum antenna selection, this method reduces the number of antenna subsets to be searched and the computation for each step, and thus, reduces the complexity. Computer simulations show that the BER, capacity and SNR gain performances of our algorithm are nearly the same as the optimum one which needs a full search of all the possible antenna subsets.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128878226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But when applying chaos to practical spread-spectrum communication, there exists the finite precision problem because of the precision limitation of hardware, which leads chaos to short period. First, the speech absent frames are detected by using spectral entropy. In the speech absent frames, a weighting factor used in estimating the noise spectrum is modified so as to emphasize effect of the noisy speech signal. Next, a spectral gain is more reduced by multiplying a factor in order to suppress effects of the noise in the speech absent frames. Furthermore, in the speech present frames, in order to reduce signal distortion, the spectral gain is controlled to be unity based on an SNR calculated by using a ridgeline spectrum. Finally, the original noisy speech is added to the estimated speech in some ratio. This ratio is controlled by the long term averaged SNR of the estimated noise and the noisy speech. Computer simulations by using speech signals, the white noise, the car noise and the bubble noise, which are available in public, have been carried out for the conventional methods and the proposed method. The proposed method can improve a segmental SNR and speech quality compared to the conventional methods. Especially, it is useful for the bubble noise.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"57 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122321406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
