The lean and agile supply chain (LASC) strategy is considered a relevant option for supply chain decision-makers. Precisely, the LASC strategy and its impact on innovation performance are considered one of the most currently discussed topics in the supply chain management literature. Hence, based on the resource-based view (RBV), the present paper discusses the impact of LASC on supply chain innovation performance through dynamic capability, relational embeddedness, and innovation capacity. The empirical evidence is operated within the Tunisian automotive components supply chain based on the structural equation modelling approach within 125 companies. The findings generated insights on the importance of the mediating role of the dynamic capability, the relational trust, and the R&D management to foster the impact of LASC innovation performance.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83089594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, implementing SCRM approaches and the effectiveness of risk mitigation depends greatly on the types of risks considered. In this paper, we focus on a specific source of risk linked to critical materials, i.e., the availability and accessibility of raw materials in relation to geopolitical, economic, environmental and/or technical contexts. Critical materials are a significant source of vulnerability for supply chains, and their identification via criticality assessment methodologies is a topic of growing concern. Based on a literature review, we elaborate a conceptual model integrating material criticality assessment into SCRM. This model can be considered as the first step in building a global framework positioning critical materials as a key factor for supply chain risk management.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86062931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are only few works addressing the problem in the food industry. We propose a mixed-integer-programming model for the lot-sizing and scheduling problem in a dairy production process. The latter is composed of standardisation tanks that can store different types of flavours and ultra-high temperature (UHT) lines. The model considers limited shelf life of liquid flavours in standardisation tanks and production bottleneck that can alternate between stages. Ten representative instances using real data are addressed with an exact method and a relax-and-fix heuristic. The results show that the assignment strategies increase the production costs. Moreover, these assignment strategies do not only reveal the total production capacity related to some industrial settings but also show the limit at which the bottleneck capacity of a given setting moves from the UHT line to the tanks.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88648333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the purpose of the paper is to examine how logistics service providers’ (LSPs’) diversification strategies affect their financial performance during the stages of an economic cycle. Based on secondary data for the period from 2006 to 2016 this study carries out regression analyses and ANOVAs. The results show a U-shaped relationship between the LSPs’ level of diversification and their financial performance during all stages of an economic cycle. In detail, analyses provide evidence that a moderate level of diversification represents the inferior diversification strategy and that specialisation as well as high levels of diversification can be defined as superior diversification strategies. The study’s findings enable logistics managers and purchasers of logistics services to assess the performance of LSPs based on their individual diversification strategies and to be able to predict their performance development more precisely.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74470311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Supply chain efficiency and sustainability are among the key issues that logistics systems have increasingly considered in recent years. In this context, this paper proposes a cloud-fog architecture to meet the new requirements of logistic networks based on the Physical Internet (PI) model. This study uses a simulation approach to evaluate supply chain performance in terms of time and cost-effectiveness by comparing two scenario models: the ‘cloud-only’ model and the ‘cloud-fog’ model. The strategy adopted is based on both the A-star (A*) pathfinding algorithm and the real-time processing capabilities enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT) and fog computing. The proposed solution allows for optimal physical routing at a competitive cost and within a reasonable time frame. Furthermore, increased visibility and traceability are achieved throughout the supply chain.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83322786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a case study, data were collected from different downstream SC members and examined by an inductive content analysis. The results show managerial activities transformed into a bundle of sustainability practices to identify how to translate changes developed from upstream to downstream SC (i.e. to engage end customers in the SC). This bundle includes cognitive (informing and training), emotional (involving, respecting, and protecting) and behavioural (changing mindset) practices. For instance, through advertising, the company informs (i.e. a cognitive element) end customers regarding its focus on local sourcing by showing both the raw material used and the supplier selection, and consequently, awakens a new market behaviour. Beyond mapping current end customer engagement practices, this study contributes to scholars and practitioners with a multidimensional approach to increase stakeholder engagement in SC sustainability practice.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86591406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The manufacturers of this equipment play a large role in providing timely healthcare by meeting healthcare providers’ requirements by fulfilling their demands. As a manufacturer, establishing a strong collaborative supply chain (CSC) is crucial to ensure both the timely receipt of raw materials and the delivery of finished goods. The risks associated with CSCs and their interactions need to be investigated for decision-making in the CSCs. This paper presents a framework, integrated decision-making methodology based on the Delphi method and the grey-based Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) technique. The Delphi method was applied for identifying the risk based on opinions of the industrial managers in the medical equipment manufacturing industry of India, and then the DEMATEL method was applied to evaluate the interaction among the recognised key risks in CSCs. The findings of the study reveal that disruption risk was the most influential one in CSC. This study will provide more valuable guidelines to policymakers and relevant practitioners about the risks prevailing in the rising nations towards the implementation of CSC practices, which, in turn, can lead to taking necessary steps for mitigating those risks. The proposed framework can address CSC risk and optimise, plan, monitor, and control supply chains in real-time. A sensitivity analysis was performed to analyse the robustness of the obtained results.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91360857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

KBIs and S&OP efficiency are novel concepts that still need operationalisation and thus call for an explorative approach. The paper is based on a questionnaire-survey among Danish manufacturers that have an S&OP process in operation. The survey consists of multiple respondents from each company covering sales, operations, finance, and the S&OP process manager. Data reveals that there is a positive relationship between KBIs and S&OP efficiency among the respondents. Furthermore, data indicate that process efficiency is positively related to sales and operational performance. The results also reveal that firm-size controls the relationships between process efficiency and operational performance. The results indicate that it does pay off to focus on soft issues (in terms of behaviour and process efficiency) in S&OP processes to enhance sales and operational performance.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90931713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All actors, including suppliers, manufacturers, customers, consumers and users have a role to play in the company’s performance. Customers, consumers and users have become major actors in the Supply Chain (SC). Their active integration into the SCM is becoming a new challenge for companies. This article aims to take stock of what has been done on the integration of customers, consumers, and users in SCM, in the literature, and to propose future avenues of research. A bibliometric analysis is conducted to study the integration of downstream actors. The analysis provides details on the most cited articles, published authors and influential journals using Bibexcel, and then Gephi is used to create a network. This article first proposes a quantitative analysis of the literature by highlighting the best authors, articles and journals on the integration of downstream actors in SCM. Subsequently, a network analysis reveals five clusters and the challenges to come. Finally, we suggest how and to what end these actors might be integrated. This bibliometric analysis proposes to explore this subject in depth, by identifying key research topics such as sustainability and information systems, interrelations and the evolution of publications over time.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81789013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This analysis is done considering the lean principles, and the aim is to understand challenges and wastes present in the BSC and map the drone advantages. Through a literature review and the use of in-depth interviews, data is collected from seven BSC experts. Main challenges were identified related to high wastage level, ability to predict demand for blood, low level of centralisation in developing countries, unexpected short-term changes in demand, and sanitary, environmental, and infrastructural risks. Wastes were identified mainly due to improper temperature during transportation, compromising blood bags’ safety, lack of equipment maintenance, leading to higher depreciation rates, and waiting time for the delivery of biomolecular testing results. The use of drones can represent gains in delivery time, allowing a ‘just-in-time’ model of distribution of blood, operating through a ‘pull’ system, reducing the need for inventories and costs.","PeriodicalId":22004,"journal":{"name":"Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86298389","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
