OmniView provides a driver with a traffic map about the relative positions of surrounding vehicles. Under OmniView, each vehicle detects other vehicles in its view, estimates their relative positions, and broadcasts its local map. Upon reception of a map from another vehicle, a vehicle updates its own map by fusing it with the received map. A key issue faced by OmniView is, how does a vehicle address another vehicle in its map? We propose that a vehicle's image itself could be treated as its address. However, if we include images in each map message, the communication overhead will be high. Towards that end, OmniView resolves a vehicle's image to a small unique ID. With this approach, we demonstrate that it is feasible to develop the OmniView system that produces a traffic map in real-time. Besides, through computer vision techniques and the collaboration between vehicles, OmniView could show the positions of surrounding vehicles with reasonable accuracy on the map. Such a traffic map, even without being displayed to the drivers, can act as the common substrate based on which various alerts can be triggered to avoid accidents.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121902071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The basestation in the system is equipped with multiple distributed antenna units (DAUs) spreading out at different locations in a service area, and they are connected to a central unit (CU) through high-throughput low-latency links such as optical fibers. In the downlink, signals for multiple users are first modulated and precoded at the CU, and are then forwarded to the DAUs, which broadcast the signals to all the users in the system. Each user extracts its own information with a linear filter. The beamforming precoder at the CU and the linear filters at the UEs are jointly designed to minimize the sum mean squared error (MSE) of all the users. The optimum designs are performed under two different power constraints: a constraint on the total power of all DAUs, and constraints on the power consumption of each DAU. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of the proposed system improve with the number of DAUs and the number of UEs under both power constraints.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129109042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, permission leak could happen when an application without certain permission illegally gain access to protected resources through other privileged applications. We propose SPAC, a component-level system permission based access control scheme that can help developers better secure the public components of their applications. In the SPAC scheme, obscure custom permissions are replaced by explicit system permissions. We extend current permission checking mechanism so that multiple permissions are supported on component level. SPAC has been implemented on a Nexus 4 smartphone, and our evaluation demonstrates its effectiveness in mitigating permission leak vulnerabilities.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129284311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These data are often represented in large scale graphs to solve real world problems. To compute those data, many Bulk Synchronous Parallel(BSP) model based graph processing systems are available on top of hadoop such as Pregel and Stanford: Graph Processing System (GPS). The problem of graph coloring is to assign color to all the vertices such that no neighbor vertices have same color. The graph coloring problem has many practical application in real world data analytics. In this paper, we have compared the heuristic graph coloring algorithm with BSP model based on hadoop such as Local Maxima First, Local Minima-Maxima First, Local Largest Degree First, Local Smallest-Largest Degree First. We experimented our algorithms on real world graph dataset on our hadoop cluster. The result shows that Local Smallest-Largest Degree First algorithm perform better than other heuristic based algorithms, in term of runtime and number of color used.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130537615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We envision that this unique feature, although often taken as negative, can be leveraged to improve the parallelism between multiple senders, i.e., transmitting data simultaneously so as to achieve higher channel utilization. In this paper, we propose a novel Delay-Aware Probability-based MAC protocol, DAP-MAC, which eliminates the handshaking process and utilizes concurrent transmissions to significantly improve the network throughput. Compatibility relation among senders based on their distances to the common receiver is derived at run-time. A utility-optimization framework uses this compatibility relation to determine the best transmission strategies for senders. Our extensive simulations demonstrate that DAP-MAC achieves better system throughput than the existing representative underwater MAC protocols.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130848844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pulmonary Artery Pressure (PAP) and Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) are selected as two preliminary physiological signals for this exercise as these two can help diagnose Cardio-Vascular Diseases (CVDs), the major silent killer of modern days. We use a Wireless Body Area Sensor Network to get the physiological data from a user's body and transmit them to a WBAN coordinator. The coordinator compresses received data from the body sensors, modulates it using bi-phase modulation scheme and sends it to a GSM module for remote transmission over existing cellular network. The GSM module receives the data and sends it to a remotely located tiny server for subsequent demodulation and reconstruction of the original signals. We explain details of different techniques used for data compression of this methodology and provide efficient transmission of data considering allowable range of perturbation in the information content in maintaining original characteristics. For the transmission of physiological data, we visualize to have a dedicated channel in upcoming fifth generation mobile technology, as more bandwidth for everybody is anticipated for services like data on demand, and would make 24×7 health-monitoring a reality in the near future. The novelty of our approach lies in the fact that it would enable online, round-the-clock health watch for the cellular system subscribers at very low power consumption by collaborating with the underlying sensor networks.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131733468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we develop a framework to analyze and optimize vertical sectorization for high-rise buildings in urban environments. We start with a generic urban network topology with high-rise buildings and use it to derive the distribution of the elevation angles of the user equipments (UEs) in a cell. Using this distribution, we derive the values of tilts that maximize the coverage of all the UEs for the cases of one and two vertical sectors. This work provides answers to how a cellular service provider should perform vertical sectorization for different base station heights, cell sizes and various urban environments.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131779294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional channel model is a two-dimensional (2-D) channel model, where an elevation angle of each signal path is always assumed to be zero. While such an approach is acceptable for evaluating performance of systems with horizontally placed linear antenna arrays, modeling of elevation angles is necessary when evaluating a massive MIMO or FD-MIMO technology utilizing a 2-D antenna array. In 3GPP, a study has been finalized the details and the following key parameters are takes into account the wireless channel propagation in the elevation direction as well as the azimuth direction; height dependent pathloss generation, correlation of large scale parameters, and statistical distribution of elevation components. This paper discusses spatial channel characteristics of vertical domain as well as horizontal domain under different 2-D active array configuration. Impact on separate and full channel measurement and feedback for horizontal and vertical antennas also discusses.
