Traditional Client/Server architectures of MMOGs exhibit different issues in scalability, reliability, and responsiveness, as well as involve high cost for adding new servers when demand increases. The fast response time, support of large and growing number of players, and low cost are extremely important considerations when designing and developing a successful MMOG The underlying infrastructure of the game plays a substantial part in meeting these conditions. P2P architecture provides considerable support for scalability of MMOGs. It also achieves good response times by direct connections between players and reducing the interaction with a server. This paper reviews recent solutions for Peer-to-Peer MMOGs, to advocate this architecture as an answer to MMOG design and deployment problems facilitating scalability, communication with a focus on load balancing.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128390252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the outstanding hybrid approaches is the Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) assisted inertial navigation system, which is notable for its low cost, simple implementation and extraordinary accuracy. Previous work on such hybrid system fails to find out the correlation between the deployment of the multiple calibration points and the indoor localization accuracy. In this paper, we use the Android smart phone to build a hybrid localization platform and conduct measurements with multiple RFID calibration tags. Based on the measurement results, we define a mathematical model which includes the calibration point number, RFID tag density and the RFID tag-to-corner distance to describe the deployment effect on the localization accuracy. Such model facilitates the future study on algorithm design, system evaluation and application development.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128275808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Centralized TE is impractical when the network becomes too large in size or in loading. Zone-based hierarchical TE comes into play under this circumstance, where the TE problem is decomposed into sub problems related to zones and tackled collectively by local zone controllers. As an integral part of this TE approach, zoning was studied in a very limited context. Existing solutions generate geographic zones and suit only arc-model TE optimization. In this paper, we advance the state of the art by proposing logical zones to support path-model TE optimization. Logical zones are created by coupling traffic flows to zone controllers. We mathematically formulate the zoning problem in different cases, where the number of available controllers is equal to, or larger than that of zones required. These problems are NP hard. We develop novel heuristic solutions and present comparative simulation study.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124182180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different from existing studies that assume a linear relationship between computation power consumption and CPU frequency, our model considers a nonlinear cube-function computation power model. Compared with the linear model, this model better describes the behavior of the dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technology that has been widely supported by modern CPUs to improve their energy efficiency. Moreover, our optimization formulation explicitly accounts for the heterogeneous thermal correlation among different servers in the data center, so that tasks are carefully scheduled to offset the spatially-uneven temperature distribution caused by the heterogeneity of thermal correlation. This process makes the AC cooling efficiency better. We show that the energy-efficient task scheduling under the above settings can be formulated as a mixed-integer convex (MIC) optimization problem, in which approximate solution can be computed efficiently. Extensive simulations are conducted to verify the energy benefit of the proposed optimization by comparing with those proposed in previous studies.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134544307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We design a new OpenFlow controller application for dynamic server load balancing by continuous monitoring of load of each video server and dynamic rerouting of clients to alternate servers with lower loads when an overload condition is detected. The proposed controller application is implemented on top of an open source OpenDaylight controller. In this work, a general MIMO-RBC is considered with two types of users (relay users and direct users) and the base station (BS) can send information continuously to the users during two phases. We then present a communication scheme that achieves the full number of degrees of freedom (DoF) of the channel with a sophisticated precoding strategy to overcome the relay station (RS) half-duplex constraint, by a well designed precoding matrix (PM) and beamforming matrix (BM) for BS and RS, respectively. The throughput criteria within the sophisticated precoding strategy is addressed for PM and BM designs in the considered communication scheme, and we show that this problem is non-linear non-convex and the optimal solutions remain unsolved. In order to find an efficient solution, we first convert it into a series of tractable subproblems, and then an iterative design algorithm is proposed based on alternative optimization, which can obtain the optimal matrices for BS and RS. Our numerical results obtained through simulations show the advantages of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131395999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the key challenges for wide acceptance is to which degree the drivers' privacy can be protected. The main technical privacy protection mechanism is the use of changing identifiers (from MAC to application layer), so called pseudonyms. The effectiveness of this approach, however, is clearly reduced if specific characteristics of the physical layer (e.g., in the transmitted signal) reveal the link between two messages with different pseudonyms. In this paper, we present such a fingerprinting technique: the scrambler attack. In contrast to other physical layer fingerprinting methods, it does not rely on potentially fragile features of the channel or the hardware, but exploits the transmitted scrambler state that each receiver has to derive in order to decode a packet, making this attack extremely robust. We show how the scrambler attack bypasses the privacy protection mechanism of state-of-the-art approaches and quantify the degradation of drivers' location privacy with an extensive simulation study. Based on our results, we identify additional technological requirements in order to enable privacy protection mechanisms on a large scale.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132283797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a DTWR channel, two users exchange their messages with the help of two relays. Most of the existing work on asynchronous DTWR systems assume only small relative propagation delays between the received signals at each node. However, in practical systems, significant delays may take place. Our proposed system is able to tolerate the delay even if it exceeds the length of the OFDM block which is almost inevitable in UWA channels. We provide analytical and numerical results to verify the advantages of the proposed scheme in mitigating large delays in different fading conditions.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"27 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133451911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since in a mobile CR network, if unlicensed users move away from each other, their relative distance changes. Thus, the unlicensed user transmission power needs to be adapted to maintain their communications. In the meantime, since the spectrum availability is location-varying, the unlicensed users may also need to perform spectrum handoffs to avoid harmful interference to PUs caused by the increase of the transmission power. In this paper, in order to address this problem, a joint power adaptation and spectrum handoff scheme is proposed in mobile CR networks. The throughput of the unlicensed user transmission is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm achieves very high throughput when the unlicensed receiver is mobile. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first paper that jointly investigates both the power adaptation and the spectrum handoff in mobile CR ad hoc networks.","PeriodicalId":219966,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)","volume":"174 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133628944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
