Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), a second generation platelet concentrate, becomes a powerful bioscaffold with an integrated reservoir of growth factors for tissue regeneration. Several studies showed that PRF has positive effect on soft and hard tissue regeneration. Here we present recent literature exploring the osteogenic effects of PRF alone or combined with other materials on bone defects healing in various animal models. period [5]. The growth factors present in PRF have been shown to promote fibroblast proliferation and accelerate bone repair. In addition, these factors increase tissue vascularity, the rate of collagen formation, and proliferation of mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial cells and osteoblasts. Several authors have also demonstrated that a fibrin matrix provides an optimal support for mesenchymal stem cells, which contribute to bone defects regeneration and of many other tissues [6].","PeriodicalId":219286,"journal":{"name":"Austin Thrombosis reasearch and Treatment","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130207367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As well, our newer animal studies of IPM have demonstrated its efficacy with dose-dependent property [19,20], without any pyrogenic side effect [21] or toxicity [22]. Nasiri et al results in rabbits showed that the maximum hemostatic effectiveness was at 2 hours after IPM administration, while Chao et al had been reported 4 hours [11]. Also, the major aggregation receptor of platelets CD41/CD61 was present on our IPM, but was absent in Chao experiment may be due to our modified IPM processing with lower detrimental effects on platelet membrane receptors. These findings confirms more improving of its hemostatic effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":219286,"journal":{"name":"Austin Thrombosis reasearch and Treatment","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115348329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study we compared two apheresis instruments (Haemonetics MCS plus and Spectra Trima) with regard to Platelet (PLT) yield, Collection Rate (CR), White Blood Cell (WBC) and Red Blood Cell (RBC) contamination for selecting equipment for apheresis units. Materials and Methods: Eighty data obtained by Haemonetics MCS plus and Spectra Trima systems (40 for each) were randomly selected among donors attending to the Central blood bank of Ain Shams university for blood donation. Platelet yield/session, number of therapeutic doses, collection rate and WBC/ RBC contamination were recorded for each session. Results: No significant difference was found between 2 instruments regarding pre-apheresis variables; however PLT yield/unit, therapeutic dose and CR showed a higher significant difference (p<0.0001) (p=0.004), being higher with Trima [7.6±1.26 (×10 11 ), 3.47±0.57 and 0.089±0.019 (platelet × 10 11 / min)]. RBC contamination was significantly higher in Haemonetics’ products (p=0.0005) in contrast to WBC contamination (p=0.1995). Conclusion: We concluded that CR and PLT yield values were more by Trima machines than Hemonetics, with no WBC contamination of both instruments’ products.","PeriodicalId":219286,"journal":{"name":"Austin Thrombosis reasearch and Treatment","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114405207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
