The etiology of CLP is said to be multi-factorial having both genetic and environmental causes. Clefts may be localized defects or may be associated with widespread structural changes in other parts of the skull [3]. Several studies have shown that the growth and displacement of the maxilla is directly linked to the growth and angulation of the cranial base [4-6]. Hence it may be assumed that any anomaly in the cranial base may have impact on the growth as well as spatial position of the naso-maxillary complex.","PeriodicalId":217575,"journal":{"name":"Oral Health and Care","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126720164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Earlier the trauma is, the more the injury is and it is hard to recognise functional and occlusal changes during growing period. There have also been an increasing number of cases wherein root canal detection is difficult to perform because a growing number of teeth have recently demonstrated a tendency of having marked levels of calcification at the root canal orifice, stenosis, and closure as a result of encouraging all individuals, regardless of their age, to brush. Furthermore, with the advent of an aging society, the stenotic tendency is expected to accelerate further due to aging-related changes in the root canal as well as factors such as long-term mechanical, cold/heat, and chemical stimulation; dental caries; and periodontal disease. Endodontic treatment for such teeth is extremely difficult. However, the success of this treatment will most likely reflect the manner in which we would address subsequent prosthetic treatments, as well as the need for biting with one’s own teeth for as long a period as possible in one’s life. We should avoid completing unnecessary root canal treatments and instead, increase the success rate of necessary treatments, including prognosis. To this end, it is crucial to correctly determine whether endodontic treatment is a necessity.","PeriodicalId":217575,"journal":{"name":"Oral Health and Care","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128599374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this paper is to show how a modified extraction technique focused in preserving the alveolar socket can improve tooth movement during space closure and can result in a healthier periodontum at the end of the treatment. In accordance with these results, we utilized MMT as the primary treatment modality in patients with TMD because of its safety and low cost. However, all RCTs, including our study, have compared two or more treatment groups, and hence, the conclusions obtained from these studies might not be true for individual patients. Some patients might actually require additional modalities of treatments after completion of MMT because of the lack of sufficient therapeutic result. Therefore, the necessity and methods of secondary treatment modalities should be considered, if MMT does not yield adequate treatment results.","PeriodicalId":217575,"journal":{"name":"Oral Health and Care","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114646458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a social disease, which causes search for effective methods of its prevention. Due to its inhibitory action on Streptococcus mutans , xylitol is a readily used supplement. The purpose of the study was a determination of the effect of 0.01% concentration of xylitol on monospecies S. mutans biofilm formation. Design: Clinical strains were acquired from 64 children aged 4.7 ± 0.81 years. The study group included children with caries and patients without carious lesions. The isolates identified using a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. The effect of 0.01% xylitol on monospecies biofilm formation after 8, 24, 48 and 72 h of culturing was evaluated. The produced biofilms were evaluated by determining the biofilm biomass, microorganism concentration and analyzing structure in a scanning electron microscope. Results: The biofilm biomass treated with xylitol was, at every time point, significantly lower (p < 0.001), in both study groups of children compared to the biofilm not treated with xylitol. A statistically significant decrease in the biofilm-forming capacity with xylitol in CFU/mL was obtained after 48 h in both groups. Conclusions: The anti-biofilm efficacy of xylitol at low concentrations, justifies its use in caries prevention in children.","PeriodicalId":217575,"journal":{"name":"Oral Health and Care","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130993535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Infrared spectroscopy allows analysis of dentin components and in particular the remaining dentin water, depending on application of the adhesive on dry or humid dentin. Thermal studies help determining whether the water is free or bound. Within the limitations of this study the adhesive didn’t yield unfavourable results, whether the technique was moist or overdry. The results point to the use of isopropanol as a solvent with favourable solubilities and vapour pressure compatible with adhesive resins.","PeriodicalId":217575,"journal":{"name":"Oral Health and Care","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131658560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
