From ancient time they are used as Ayurvedic medicine. This review mainly focuses on to the traditional medicinal uses of spices and herbs as per Ayurveda and their efficacy as a natural potent antioxidant and antimicrobial agents over synthetic one. The chemical component of essential oils were analysed by GC-MS and GC-FID techniques. Antioxidant activity was confirmed by different assays like DPPH assay, FRAP assay, ABTS assay, Hydroxy radical scavenging assay, NO scavenging assay etc. Quantitative estimation of phenol and flavonoid from different solvent extracts revealed the proportional relationship between concentration of polyphenols and antioxidant activity. Zone of inhibition (in mm), MIC and MBC were measured to assess the antimicrobial activity against different pathogens like Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus pyogensis etc. Spices and herbs can be used as potent and safe Ayurvedic drug along with their use in cooking and seasoning different foods.","PeriodicalId":217256,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Ayurvedic Medicine","volume":"9 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115314212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Abstract is an essential part of scientific writing and is a challenging task. They are vital to convince the scientific community and are the first impressions of the work done. Considering the poor standards of abstracts in Ayurveda, this paper intends to guide students of Ayurveda for effective writing of abstracts. Abstracts of Bio-medicine and reputed Ayurveda Journals were screened to arrive at appropriate guidelines for Abstract writing. Abstracts can be structured (IMRD-Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions) or unstructured as per the guidelines of the journal. Author can choose to write the abstract in informative or descriptive style. Care should be taken neither to cross the word limit nor to omit the basic information. It is advisable to write the abstract after completing the paper and update whenever the paper is edited during the process of peer review. English terms should be used with exception to popular and essential Samskrit terms. IAST (International Alphabet of Samskrit Transliteration) diacritics must be used only when journal accepts. Hence adopting these helpful points would certainly improve the quality of Abstracts.","PeriodicalId":217256,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Ayurvedic Medicine","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123047573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The vision of the Ministry of AYUSH concerning state-owned Ayurvedic pharmacies is to strengthen the OPDs, IPDs of Hospitals & dispensaries to attain healthy Nation. Although various programs have been taken up towards increasing production in state-owned Government Ayurvedic pharmacies, due to their noncompliance, the pharmacies are still underperforming. Actions are therefore required to enhance the quality of production and ensure supplies. The main issues related to pharmacy function include, underutilization of installed and operational capacity of the unit, non-feasible procurement policy, absence of motivation , absence of opportunities to skill development and knowledge updation, lack of an organogram, non-compliance of pharmacies with standards like G.M.P and ISO 9000-2001 , absence of S.O.P for each product, absence of communication with end users like hospitals and dispensaries, poor labelling and packaging are discussed in the present paper with their probable solutions. Implementation of these steps towards the promotion and development of state-owned Ayurvedic pharmacies would help improve their qualitative production and in turn will help regaining the trust of common people for Ayurveda who are visiting state dispensaries and hospitals and are dispensed with Ayurveda medicines manufactured at state owned Ayurveda pharmacies.","PeriodicalId":217256,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Ayurvedic Medicine","volume":"185 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116634487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Organophosphorus pesticide inhibits acetylcholinesterase at nerve synapses. In the current case, 36-years patient was diagnosed with Organophosphate-induced delayed polyneuropathy (OPIDP) had a history of suicide attempts complaining of severe weakness, pain, and tingling sensation in Bilateral upper and lower limb after 15 days. Organophosphate-induced delayed polyneuropathy (OPIDP) develops after several weeks from exposure it is characterized by distal weakness and sensory loss which can be progressive. In Ayurveda the case was diagnosed and treated on the bases of Vishajanaya Vatavyadhi (Diseased induced by Poisoning) under the Umbrella of Urustambha. It was categorized in different stages of the disease and was treated accordingly with the help of different ayurvedic medications and Procedures for 9 follow-ups for 2 years.","PeriodicalId":217256,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Ayurvedic Medicine","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127319460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ayurveda understands the patho-physiology from the perspective of deranged body constituents. Based on same principles and the clinical picture of COVID-19 worldwide, this opinion article is prepared. The information regarding disease progression, collated from authentic sources, the disease maybe a pitta condition primarily triggering kapha release. Pitta and Kapha together are instigating complications such as hepatitis, myocarditis, GI symptoms, pneumonitis, Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Also, there happens to be a stark resemblance between advanced symptoms of COVID-19 with complications of Herpes zoster and ZSH (Zostersine-herpete) despite different viruses triggering that. As per Ayurvedic patho-physiology, herpes is a pitta predominant disorder and COVID-19 too seems to exhibit similar symptoms in advanced stages. Pitta pacifying medicines have been effective in conditions like herpes zoster, Chicken pox etc. Based on this information, a hypothesis about the management plan for COVID-19 is proposed in this opinion article. Primarily pitta pacifying (inflammation relieving) medicines may have a role in treatment of a certain subset of SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals.","PeriodicalId":217256,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Ayurvedic Medicine","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123695539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a vata kaphaja roga, occurring in all age groups. Major factors that cause diminished power of Jatharagni in human body includes the changing lifestyle and unhealthy food habits. Manda Jatharagni, if untreated leads to the formation of ama rasa. Thus, ama formed results in srotorodha which leads to avarana of udana vata by kapha, pitta and prana vata further causes \u0000khavaigunya. Rasavaha and raktavaha srotas gets vitiated and systemic manifestations are seen. In the process, pranavaha srotas gets vitiated, manifesting local symptoms of Pratishyaya. Correction of agni is of prime importance in the treatment protocol of Pratishyaya. The modern medical science also supports the association between pulmonary and gastrointestinal pathology, though research in the field of relation between digestive metabolic factor and Rhinitis is yet to be substantiated. The current study aims to link the significance of Jatharagni in Pratishyaya (Rhinitis).","PeriodicalId":217256,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Ayurvedic Medicine","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115539249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
