Kumar","doi":"10.46505/ijbi.2021.3205","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46505/ijbi.2021.3205","url":null,"abstract":"Keeping in view of durability and availability easily at least cost price, since decade, the plastic bags are being used for developing saplings from seeds, cuttings of stem/ branches/ twigs of endemic and threatened species in Government and Private nurseries for mass plantation to develop greenery over vast land areas and/ or restoration of degraded lands/forests, avenue plantation, recreation, etc. In forthcoming years, to meet the requirement of Goal 5 of New York Declaration on Forests, 2014, country-wide mass plantation programme has already been launched to curb tons of ambient CO2, create congenial environmental conditions for future generation and prevent loss of forest by 2030. Hence, while doing so, if the same is used in huge quantity and left on/along plantation area, it may create nuisance and pollute soil, water, landscape as well as surroundings, may affect drastically to the microorganism and even also causes health hazards to living beings due to its non-biodegradable properties. Thus, to find out an alternate and sustainable means to develop saplings, the biodegradable paper glass was used since Jul, 2019 and grown >5,000 individuals of 30 plant species from seeds by devising a methodology and proper implementation. The devised method is cost effective, convenient in procurement or reuse after any ceremony, plantation and if left unattended in the field, degrade naturally in due course of time.","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129017605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Five stages of nectar to honey transformation comprise floral nectar (fn), honey crop of foragers (hf), honey crop of house bees (hh), unsealed honey cells (uh) and sealed honey cells (sh). The TRS of fn and sh cells was 2.12% and 73.01% respectively. Correspondingly NRS of hh and uh cells was 14.90% and 7.50%. The ash content of hf and sh cells was 0.20% and 1.49% respectively, whereas the acidity of sh cells and hf was 0.503 and 0.06 respectively. Similarly pH of hh and uh cells had a value of 1.03 and 2.61. All the five parameters viz., TRS, NRS, ash, acidity and pH tested apart from NRS were less in floral nectaries and maximum in sealed honey cells. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) of TRS of ripening of honey was significant at P<0.01% levels, while NRS, ash, acidity and pH in honey formation was not found significant at P<0.01% levels.","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115235044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The order of cadmium accumulation rate was found in these tissues were liver>gills> kidney. It was concluded that the fish liver and gills exhibited highest accumulation of heavy metals. The results showed significant fall in all the biochemical constituents in all the tissues except glucose apparently suggest that organism's response to the toxicant stress. The accumulation of cadmium and significant fall in the level of these biochemical constituents in these tissues was found to increase directly. Cadmium blocks the oxidative metabolism in the tissues leading to an altered energy status in the fish as the toxicant effect carbohydrate metabolism in liver, brain and gills. A significant increase in glucose and lactate levels was observed while the glycogen and pyruvate contents were significantly decreased due to the toxic stress.","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132066143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The alien looking fruit has similarities with Pomegranate and Passion fruit in its texture and is a traditional food plant in the African continent. Its increasing popularity in the health arena is due to the abundance of health benefits it possesses. It improves cognitive function, used as a recovery aid for heart stroke; kiwano melon slows down the ageing process and even neutralizes the free radicals in the body. The high fiber content in kiwano makes it an ideal digestive aid. Due to the presence of essential nutrients, minerals and organic compounds in the fruit, it got recognition by WHO, stating kiwano to be an essential fruit in fighting against illness and malnutrition. The health benefits of the kiwano are in the nutrients it contains including vitamin C, Fe and K. It also has smaller amounts of P, Mg, Zn, Ca, Cu, and Na. The seeds contain linoleic and oleic acid. Linoleic acid is an omega fatty acid which is required for human health while oleic acid is thought to help in lowering the blood pressure. A couple of anti-oxidants recognized in kiwano seeds are α -tocopherol as well as β -tocopherol. The yellowish-green colored pigments are located at the seeds. Its pulp contains the carotenoid, beta carotene. The beta carotene strengthens the body's defense mechanisms and sustains eye and skin health. It may also help to prevent cancer simply by suppressing the growth of free-radicals. This review article is aimed to discuss the diseases or ailments that are treated with the plant Cucumis metuliferus .","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114271431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
