Frequency-domain characterization of cables is considered. A function in the Laplace-s-domain is fitted to such characterized behavior by using genetic algorithms. From the step response of the cable, and using genetic algorithms (GA), an impulse function (propagation function) is derived. Such a function is used to predict frequency-dependent voltage and current in longer cables. Simulation and experimental results are provided.","PeriodicalId":215400,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114629960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the absence of an applied field, individual domains still exhibit Faraday rotation, though the bulk material does not. Using single mode fiber where the half power beam width is smaller in dimension than the magnetic domains of the material, individual magnetic domains of BIG samples are identified. A method for differentiating domains and determining domain alignment is presented. The Faraday rotation of individual domains is measured and reported.","PeriodicalId":215400,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"2009 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125654295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors are engaged into the development of a completely automated commando training system employing a wireless sensor network (WSN) technology along with RFID technology. The project implementation also has a number of requisite mechanical systems fitted with an enemy bust figure, placed in a remote and harsh environment but hidden. Each of these systems has microprocessor based WSN router and a tiny camera for its operation. The active RFID tags are placed but hidden, along the commandopsilas predetermined moving path for continuously monitoring commandopsilas movement by a computer system. Finding the differences is important for applications such as efficient testing, merging, and auditing. Software differencing reduces to the problem of graph differencing for which the most general case is intractable. The BetterXML framework aims to improve this situation by allowing the programmer to develop a domain-specific object model as usual and later bind this model to preexisting or newly generated markup. To this end, the framework provides two types of object trees, XElement and NaturalXML, for representing XML documents. XElement goes beyond DOM-like automatic parsing of XML by supporting the custom mapping of elements to domain objects; NaturalXML allows the mapping of existing domain objects to XML elements using class metadata. Both types of object trees can be inflated and deflated by means of a common intermediate representation in the form of an event stream. Finally, the framework includes the XML Intermediate Representation (XIR), a lossless record-oriented representation of XML documents for efficient streaming and other types of data exchange.","PeriodicalId":215400,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129649146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This created an opportunity for the development of new system-on-chip (SoC) design techniques to allow easy IP cores (intellectual property cores) re-use and integration under time-to-market pressure. A wide range of these newly emerging design platforms is now drifting towards highly integrated system-on-chip designs with many on-chip processing resources like processors, DSPs, and memories. Using this technique, designers can build system-on-chip (SoC) by integrating dozens of IP cores. As the number of IP cores integrated on a chip increases, the on-chip communication and physical interconnections become a bottleneck. New system-on-chip (SoC) design techniques are necessary to address the communication requirements for future SoC. New communication architecture, the NoFPGA (network-on-FPGA), for future SoFPGA (system-on-FPGA) has been presented. The paper details the architecture of a NoFPGA router. The interconnecting issues in SoFGPA design methodology built in a single FPGA device are addressed. Mainly, the performance analysis of the IPRouter of both torus and mesh topologies is addressed.","PeriodicalId":215400,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133849265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a nulling-canceling based detection algorithm that performs selective maximum-likelihood decoding based on result of comparison between symbol estimates with different orderings. If the symbol estimates do not agree, then maximum-likelihood detection is performed on the discrepant symbols; otherwise, only nulling and canceling are performed. The proposed algorithm can achieve a better performance than the original nulling-canceling algorithm and requires a relatively small computational complexity increase.","PeriodicalId":215400,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114187736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
