However, it is inevitable to use a small step size which enables us to update tap coefficients of the NEF without estimating a speech signal. When a fixed step size is used, it is difficult to track the background noise without estimating a speech signal. Thus, a variable step size is introduced to the noise reduction system in this paper. The variable step size is decreased so as not to estimate speech in a speech section. On the other hand, the variable step size is increased to track background noise in a non-speech section. Additionally, the variable step size is increased when the tap coefficients do not converge adequately.","PeriodicalId":215340,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121880607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In JPEG2000, there are two quantization methods, the scalar derived quantization (SDQ) and the scalar expounded quantization (SEQ). In this work, we use three optimization methods of quantization step, which are SDQ, SEQ determined by arithmetic average method and SEQ determined by genetic algorithm. Evaluation of image quality is comparison between peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and standard deviation, which one is correlation with the results of subjective assessment. PSNR is traditional objective assessment to measure image quality and standard deviation is new criterion. Subjective assessment is evaluated by ultrasonographers, which is the most important for medical image. The results show that standard deviation match to subjective assessment. Sometime compressed image loses important information for diagnosis in spite of high PSNR. Therefore, PSNR does not correlate well with the results of subjective assessment. Our purpose is to use the new criterion instead of PSNR that standard deviation is better than PSNR.","PeriodicalId":215340,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134213347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This circuit is realized by only 6 transistors with BJT technology. A shunt-feedback buffer principle is used in order to regulate its emitter voltage of translinear part. For current mirror behavior, output and input currents are identical with a small error. Current-gain can be obtained by adjusting the ratio of the 2 particular current sources. This proposed circuit is using only 6 transistors for the simple structure. The analysis of input, output resistance and current-gain are depicted. An extra transistor is added for maintained the transfer minimum error which is also proposed. The constant bandwidth more than 40 MHz of various current-gains can be obtained. From current output mathematic function, several applications such as current multiplier, current divider and tunable current mirror are certainly performed. Other applications are raised to confirm realistic applicable including squaring and square-rooting circuits. One of the major challenges related to image registration is the estimation of large motion, when input images contain small overlapped area. Common image registration using the search algorithm can accurately finds large motion but requires high computation cost due to large search space. Fourier-based technique is an alternative approach since it can rapidly achieve the registration results through its FFT algorithm. However, only Fourier-based technique cannot produce the correct results in the case of large translation. Thus, this paper presents a Fourier-based technique cooperated with best-first search algorithm to analyze the correct translation between two input images. The Fourier-based technique is used to estimate the candidate translations to decrease searching space while best-first search algorithm is used to further search for the correct translation. The proposed technique can estimate large translations, scalings, and rotations in images by an extension of well-known phase correlation technique. The experimental results using various image details show the accuracy of the proposed technique to detect large translations compared to the other techniques in frequency domain.","PeriodicalId":215340,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies","volume":"210 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132267499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then, the triangle area representation with two points (TAR-2p) signature at each level of barycenter contour is introduced as the shape representation. Finally, the normalized cross-correlation function at each level is used for measuring the similarity among the shapes. Our experiment has been performed on database consisting of 560 affine distorted shapes, chosen from MPEG-7 contour shape database CE-1. The results illustrate that our algorithm is invariant to affine transformation, robustness to the noise. Moreover, it achieves high retrieval efficiencies when compares to those of the Triangle Area Representation with three points (TAR-3p) signature and the centroid distance signature.","PeriodicalId":215340,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128257604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
