The work was carried out in 2022 on Phoenix quails. From the age of one day, in addition to the main diet, the birds of the experimental group daily received a suspension culture of <i>Enterococcus faecium</i> ICIS 96 with a cell concentration of 1 × 10<sup>9</sup> in 1 mL at the rate of 0.1 mL per 1 kg of live weight. To achieve this goal, a scientific and economic experiment was carried out. At the first stage, the influence of the <i>Enterococcus faecium</i> ICIS 96 strain on the growth, development, and meat productivity of quails up to 42 days was determined, and at the second stage on the egg productivity of quails. The live weight of quail in the experimental group was higher than in the control group at all age periods: on the 28th day by 19.4 g, or 15.02%, on the 42nd day by 23.8 g, or 9.0%. The weight of gutted quail carcasses, which received in addition to the main diet a suspension of <i>Enterococcus faecium</i> ICIS 96 culture, was greater than in the control by 25.42%, half-gutted by 25.33%, and slaughter yield by 8.9%. The highest egg production during the productive period (30 weeks) was observed in quails of the experimental group: the gross collection of eggs was 5365 pcs, which was 701 pcs more than in the control group. At the same time, the thickness of their shell was 8.6% higher. However, the efficiency of obtaining cloned offspring remains relatively low. A number of studies on small livestock, including sheep, have shown that the use of laparoscopy, compared with the traditional method of embryo transfer via laparotomy, is associated with less trauma and allows an increase in the pregnancy rate of a recipient. Such studies have not previously been conducted with cloned embryos. The purpose of the study is to compare laparotomic and laparoscopic methods of transplanting cloned embryos in sheep. The work was carried out on Romanov breed sheep (<i>n</i> = 12 and 13, respectively). We preliminarily assessed the effectiveness of the ultrasound protocol used to determine pregnancy in sheep at different stages of the gestational period. Transplantation of 2-day-old cloned embryos was carried out on the 2nd day after heat detection. Diagnosis of pregnancy after embryo transfer was carried out using ultrasound on days 35–41 after transplantation. Accuracy of a positive prognosis (confirmation of pregnancy) at all periods of ultrasound diagnostics according to the applied protocol by the 28th–29th, 35th–36th, 42nd‒43rd, 56th–58th, 71st, 85th and 98th day was 100%. The use of the laparoscopic method for transferring cloned embryos was not associated with mortality during surgery, while with surgical transfer it was 8.3%. The use of the laparoscopic method made it possible to reduce the duration of the operating procedure by 2.9 times on average from 44.1 ± 13.3 to 15.4 ± 4.3 minutes (<i>p</i> &lt; 0.01). The percentage of pregnancy achieved using the laparoscopic method was comparable to the results of surgical transfer of cloned embryos and was 30.8 ± 12.8% versus 36.4 ± 14.5%. Veller","doi":"10.3103/s1068367423070388","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3103/s1068367423070388","url":null,"abstract":"<h3 data-test=\"abstract-sub-heading\">Abstract</h3><p>This work presents a series of successive vegetation experiments in biotesting of samples of sod-podzolic cultivated soil after its treatment with herbicides of the class of sulfonylureas—Magnum, water-dispersable granules (metsulfuron-methyl (600 g/kg) manufactured by August) and Alister Grand, MD (diflufenican 180 g/L + mesosulfuronmethyl 6.0 g/L + iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium 4.5 g/L + antidote mephenpyrdiethyl 27 g/L) manufactured by Bayer. The residual phytotoxicity of these preparations for seedlings of sensitive crops of white lupine (<i>Lupinus albus</i>) and mung bean (<i>Vigna radiata</i>) was studied. The initial soil samples were taken in the field on day 5 after the application of herbicides in winter wheat crops grown using two different tillage technologies: traditional moldboard plowing and zero tillage. The results of biotesting of samples at 20°C and humidity of 60% of field capacity showed that the half-life of herbicides (DT50) comprised 40 ± 3 days after the incubation start, and detoxification to the level of 70–80% occurred 200–240 days after the introduction of herbicides into the sod-podzolic. Regardless of the tillage method and the applied herbicide, the suppression of test crops at the level of &gt;10% relative to the control was detected 2 years after the application of herbicides. White lupine and mung bean are highly sensitive to the effect of microquantities of herbicides of the sulfonylurea group; therefore, it is recommended to use these test crops to determine the residual phytotoxicity of soil. Over the recent decade, selective breeding with molecular markers has provided the opportunity to improve the sheep muscular system and the carcass weight and yield with decreasing the fat accumulation. Recognition of genes affecting the characteristics of farm animal products has allowed the researchers to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with phenotypic traits improving the productive performance of livestock. Alleles of genes calpastatin (<i>CAST</i>) and somatropin, the synthetic form of growth hormone (<i>GH</i>) can represent the potential markers for sheep meat productivity. The objective of the survey is to study polymorphic variants of the <i>CAST</i> and <i>GH</i> genes in meat and wool sheep of the genotype of cross 1/2 Poll Dorset ×1/2 North-Caucasian meat-and-wool breed, reared in the Stavropol krai and their relationships with the traits important in meat production. Sheep genotyping for the somatotropin and calpastatin genes was performed with the method of PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The evaluated genes were polymorphic. Three genotypes (<i>AA</i>, <i>AB</i>, and <i>BB</i>) of gene <i>GH</i> and two genotypes (<i>MM</i> and <i>MN</i>) of gene <i>CAST</i> have been identified. Genotypes <i>AB</i> and <i>MM</i> were characterised by the highest frequency of occurrence (42.8 and 87.9%, respectively). The highest values for meat production were recorded in the ewes with the <i>AB</i>, <i>BB</i>, and <i>MN</i> genotypes. The slaughter weight of specimens with genotype <i>MN</i> of the <i>CAST</i> gene was greater than that in the sheep with homozygous genotype (<i>MM</i>) by 5.9% and in the animals with genotypes <i>AB</i> and <i>BB</i> of gene <i>GH</i>, compared to the ewes with genotype <i>AA</i>, by 6.8 and 7.5%, respectively. The work was carried out in 2012–2021 under the conditions of the Central Ciscaucasia. In the link of crop rotation (green manure fallow –winter wheat–winter wheat) with various methods of basic tillage (mouldboard ploughing, surface tillage—disking) of the soil, the effect of hydrogel (100–400 kg/ha) was determined on a fertilized background and without fertilizers. The optimal dose of hydrogel for the annual application of N<sub>60</sub>P<sub>60</sub>K<sub>60</sub> was 400 kg/ha. For nine years, it provided a total increase in the yield of conditional grain, depending on the method of cultivation, 12.58–13.50 t/ha, a conditional net income of 64 196–70 866 rubles/ha, with a profitability of 107–118%. The use of hydrogel in its pure form (without fertilizers) is not economically justified. At the same time, it significantly increases the efficiency of mineral fertilizers: the net income for the period of research varied from 52 498 (surface tillage) and 65 506 rubles/ha (moldboard ploughing) when applying 100 kg/ha of the polymer to 120 542–143 405 rubles/ha in the variant with a dose of 400 kg/ha. The profitability of fertilizers at an increasing dose of hydrogel 100–400 kg/ha with traditional ploughing increased from 100 to 220%, with surface tillage from 80 to 185%. The total conditional net income from the increase in the amount of applied hydrogel and mineral fertilizers against the background of moldboard ploughing increased from 50 775 to 135 721 rubles/ha, the level of profitability varied within 63–108%. The effect of amorphous fine silica on the productivity and quality of tomatoes was studied in vegetation experiments. Silica was introduced into a mixture of gray forest soil and washed sand in doses of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 g/vessel, which corresponded to 100, 200, and 300 kg/ha, against the background of complex mineral fertilizers. It was shown that the improvement of silicon nutrition of tomatoes significantly increased their yield by 52–70%. There was also an improvement in fruit quality as a result of a 20–40% reduction in nitrate content and an increase in sugar content by 12.9–50.9%. In 2015–2020, 14 varieties were studied in the conditions of the Cis-Urals and 17 varieties were studied in the Trans-Urals. The experiments were carried out: in the Cis-Ural region on ordinary chernozem with a content of 2.9–5.6 mg/100 g of nitrate nitrogen in the soil layer of 0–30 cm (per 100 g), 2.3–2.8 and 26.7–38.4 mg/100 g of mobile phosphorus and potassium (according to Machigin); in the Trans-Urals on southern chernozem with a 4.3–5.8 mg/100 g of nitrate nitrogen, 0.8–1.9 and 25…48 mg/100 g of mobile phosphorus and potassium (according to Machigin). Favorable conditions have developed in 2015 with the HTC = 1.10 in the Cis-Urals and 1.34 in the Trans-Urals and 0.58 and 0.86 in 2017. The 2020 season was unfavorable, the HTC amounted to 0.30 in the Cis-Ural region and 0.24 in the Trans-Ural region. The yield of the studied varieties in favorable years reached 3.94 t/ha in the Cis-Ural region and 3.05 t/ha in the Trans-Ural region. When weather conditions worsened, grain harvest decreased to 0.94 t/ha and 0.50 t/ha, respectively. To assess the ecological adaptability of varieties, the indicator of ecological plasticity according to A.A. Gryaznov, the stability index and the stability index of the stability index (SSSI), the coefficient of variation of yield, and the homeoadaptability index were calculated. The final assessment of the adaptability of varieties was carried out by ranking the varieties according to indicators of environmental plasticity. Orenburgskaya 23, Favorit, Ulyanovskaya 105, Erika, Prokhorovka with an average yield over the years of research of 2.53–2.72 t/ha were the most adaptive varieties in the Cis-Ural region (sum of ranks 21–32). Kolmykov","doi":"10.3103/s1068367423070108","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3103/s1068367423070108","url":null,"abstract":"<h3 data-test=\"abstract-sub-heading\">Abstract</h3><p>The benefits of ICP-OES analysis (radial observation) for humic products are evaluated in this paper; the proposed method allows one to quantify up to 24 elements (As, Al, B, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Pb, S, Si, Sr, Ti, V, and Zn). This list will make it possible to determine the effectiveness of such preparations for soil nutrition as well as help to avoid danger if the amount of toxic impurities in them goes beyond their maximum permissible concentrations. In the absence of certified reference materials for the elements analyzed, the accuracy of determining the macro component composition is confirmed by comparing the results of an independent gravimetric experiment for the objects under study’s ash content with the calculated data obtained by processing the results of ICP-OES analysis. Systematic errors in the determination of minor and micro components are minimized by using the method of standard additions to avoid matrix effects as well as using six parallel measurements on samples prepared independently of each other. The accuracy of the procedure is also assessed by using model solutions with similar micro impurities’ mineral composition of humic products using Student’s t-test. The paper reports the results of a 2-year study of the dynamics of the composition and structure of the fungal community and the agrochemical characteristics of young intensive type apple orchard soil. The analysis of the fungal pool in the control (a no plants background) showed that the content of soil saprotrophs and cellulolytic fungi was two times higher there than in the root zone of young apple trees. The important role of plant exudates in the formation of the root zone mycobiota and the participation of mycobiota in soil microbial community differentiation and the formation of the “phytogenic area,” where root secretions affect the activity and distribution of the ecotrophic fungi groups, were demonstrated. Information about cultivated soil microscopic fungi was given, and an annotated list, including 26 species, was compiled. It was revealed that the application of nitrogen fertilizers (N30) for wheat on the background of long-term use of fertilizers caused an increase in the total number of soil fungi by 30–68% on average relative to the control variant, whereas a rise in the number of micromycete germs was less significant (23–29%) during their aftereffect. The ranges of the optimal content of macronutrients for the intensive increase in the pool of microscopic fungi in meadow chernozem-like soil were determined: 50–65 of phosphorus, 195–210 of potassium, and ≥10 mg/kg of nitrogen in case of optimal soil moisture of 22–24%. The aftereffect of long-term application of fertilizers, of organic-mineral ones in particular, and the effect of mineral fertilizers (N30) applied in the year of the study were positive for the species diversity, the frequency of occurrence, and dynamics of the number of fungal germs in soil. Negative rearrangements of micromycete complexes as a result of long-term use of mineral fertilizers in agrocenoses of meadow chernozem-like soils were not detected.
