Two new algorithms are developed for the determination of a given number of critical load factors or all critical load factors in a given range. In addition to the conventional eigenvalue extraction method, the well-known Wittrick-Williams method is employed in both algorithms. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efiectiveness of the proposed element and algorithms.","PeriodicalId":213716,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Information and Computational Science","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114683879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most existing research works focus on decision systems where test-costs are additive. However, in some applications there is a common-cost within a group of tests. In this paper, we design an attribute reduction algorithm with a heuristic function and a parameter adjusting scheme to deal with this situation. The heuristic function has two parameters serving as the reward and the penalty exponent, respectively. The parameter adjusting scheme is based on the competition approach. Experimental results on four UCI (University of California-Irvine) datasets indicate that the algorithm obtains optimal reducts in most cases.","PeriodicalId":213716,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Information and Computational Science","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132348848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper applies functional data clustering algorithm to categorize the countries by defense burden. It excludes interference of unexpected factors, transforms discrete data to continuous data, and flnally gets two groups of countries with higher and lower defense burden respectively. According to the clustering results, through panel data model, it explores the relationship between defense expenditure and economic development of each category. Results show that using functional data clustering algorithm, we can get difierent cluster results from traditional classiflcation. Each category includes both developing and developed countries. In addition, there exists long-term stable equilibrium relationship between defense expenditure and GDP in each class, but defense expenditure difierently impacts on economic growth in difierent countries.","PeriodicalId":213716,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Information and Computational Science","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125720093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed D-NCG power control algorithm not only realizes the fairness of WBAN users, but also reduces the interference between networks which is based on non-cooperative game and through rationally designing the cost function and the utility function parameters. The existence and uniqueness of the Nash equilibrium in D-NCG is proved. Simulation results show that higher priority user’s throughput is larger and it ensures the effectiveness of communication with larger sending power. But with the increase of cost factor c, the final throughput does not reduce, where a revelation can be obtained: when the number of WBAN users is small, throughput can be guaranteed by appropriately increasing the value of c in the cost function, which also leads the degradation of the sending power.","PeriodicalId":213716,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Information and Computational Science","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127918924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main concept of the hybrid parallel algorithm is that the processes in the parallel system are divided into groups and the PDD algorithm is used to implement parallelization between groups. In each group, the PCR is used to implement the parallelization instead of PDD. By doing so, parallel efficient and computational accuracy could be obtained in the same time. To examine the algorithm of the hybrid parallel efficiency, a Global Reduced Gravity Ocean model (GRGO) is paralyzed, and the results show that this hybrid parallel algorithm can give us a better accuracy and higher efficiency compared to that using the traditional domain decomposition method.","PeriodicalId":213716,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Information and Computational Science","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134313997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, the theory of morphological component analysis is employed to separate the image to be de-noised into some layers with different morphological components. In this paper, images are decomposed into two parts: smooth and textural parts. As noise only exists in the textural parts, we utilize bilateral filter to smooth textural parts. Finally, the smooth parts and the filtered textual parts are combined to get the image free of noise. In this paper, a new adaptive Kalman filter, namely interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic-based Adaptive Kalman Filter (T2FL-AKF), is designed to overcome the problem. Based on the ratio of the actual value of the residual covariance to its theoretical value, the proposed T2FL-AKF online adjusts the measurement noise covariance by utilizing an interval type-2 fuzzy logic. Then this adjustment changes the value of the filter gain such that the state estimate is corrected. Extensive simulations were performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed T2FLAKF in terms of estimation accuracy. Experimental results have shown that the average variance of the proposed T2FL-AKF can be up to 10:3% lower than that of the benchmarking schemes SKF and T1FL-AKF. At last, a suggestion of future research is also mentioned.","PeriodicalId":213716,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Information and Computational Science","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124201034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the Logistic model, this paper proposes a new method for solving Logistic. With China’s total energy consumption in 2000-2013 as raw data, it uses Logistic model to predict our country’s total energy consumption. And then, it improves the predicted results with Markov chain. The results show that: the average relative error is 4.71 percent if it uses Logistic model, while the average relative error is only 2.45 percent if it is improved. The prediction accuracy is improved of 2.26 percent. Therefore, this paper uses Logistic-Markov method to predict energy consumption of 2014-2020. Finally, it analyzes energy consumption trends by predicting, and proposes the corresponding energy conservation measures.","PeriodicalId":213716,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Information and Computational Science","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126297904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The joint coding of texture and depth video is important for the 3D video data. In this paper, a joint bit allocation and rate control method is proposed for 3D video coding. First, the characteristics of bit allocation and rate control are investigated. Second, a generic exponential distortion model is derived for joint video coding. Finally, based on the distortion model, the joint bit allocation problem is formulated as a constrained optimization problem and solved through the Lagrangian multiplier method. The system performance has been evaluated with several 3D video sequences. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves excellent rate-distortion performance.","PeriodicalId":213716,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Information and Computational Science","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126593813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
