We analyzed the results GT using Turkish \"electronic cigarettes\" as search terms between 2011-2017, aimed to find out the changes between 2014 and 2017 and predicted the search interest in next two years in Turkey. We used \"electronic cigarette\" search terms in web, shopping and, youtube in GT between 2011 and 2017 in Turkey. Due to the prohibition of electronic cigarette use in June 2013 and the media had extensive data at that time, trend analysis has been performed since 2014. Examination of the graphs reveals that the relevance of the web is highest in May and June in 2011, and started to rise again in early 2016. Youtube interest has increased markedly since 2016. As a result of the time series analysis, 2018 and 2019, shopping and youtube interest will dramatically increase in 2018. The web interest will rise in 2018 but decline in 2019 (Figure). We found that searches on electronic cigarettes usage on the web, shopping and youtube were statistically higher in 2016 compared to 2011-2014 and 2017 years. Shopping and youtube interest is expected to increase in 2018, but interest in youtube and web use for such searches is expected to decrease in 2019. We believe that measures are inadequate for prohibiting the sales electronic cigarettes online and additional legal regulations are necessary.","PeriodicalId":212819,"journal":{"name":"Tobacco, smoking control and health education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128281700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the search for the new methods for the smoking cessation continues. Electron cigarette is one of them. Mehtods: The survey was conducted among 168 former smokers, 96 (57.1 %) men and 72 (42.9 %) women, who started to uses e-cigarettes for the smoking cessation. Patients, who started using e-cigarettes, have stopped use of cigarettes. Nicotine dose in e-cigarettes was equal to the nicotine dose in usual cigarettes. Results: An average age was 52.4±5.3 with the smoking experience of 21.1±3.2 packyears. 34 (20.2 %) ended up e-cigarettes use during the first month on their own. Among them 20 (58.8 %) men and 14 (41.2%) women, 62 (36.9 %) ended up e-cigarettes use in the period from 1 to 2 months. Among them 41 (66.1 %) men and 21 (33.9 %) women. By the end of the third month, 13 patients (7.7 %), 7 (53.8 %) men and 6 (46.2 %) women, ended up use of e-cigarettes and 59 (35.2%) of patients have continued e-cigarettes use. By the end of the study, 109 (64.9 %) ended up using e-cigarettes, among them 68 (70.8 %) men and 41 (56.9 %). In the group, who continued e-cigarettes use were 28 (47.4 %) men and 31 (52.6%) women. By the end of the study, 13 patients (7.7 %) quit smoking. The program for the nicotine use decrease was applied for the patients who continued e-cigarettes use after the period of 3 months. Conclusion: So, e-cigarettes are low-effective as an independent component of the smoking cessation program. We do not recommend e-cigarettes as an independent method for the smoking cessation, because they have low clinical efficacy and high economic expenses.","PeriodicalId":212819,"journal":{"name":"Tobacco, smoking control and health education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133185936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous studies report a link between current smoking and community acquired pneumonia (CAP). We aimed to systematically review the literature to establish the effects of current smoking on the risk of developing CAP in adults. We systematically searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, LILACS and Web of Science to identify case-control studies, cohort studies and randomised controlled trials on the association of current smoking and CAP (defined by study authors as a clinical or radiological diagnosis of CAP in adults(2)). Pooled odds ratios (ORs) or hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated by using random effects model. Study quality was assessed by the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. 647 studies were identified for title and abstract screening. Following screening by two independent reviewers, 58 studies met the inclusion criteria and were retrieved for full text review. 26 studies were eventually included for data extraction. The mean quality score across the studies included was 5.70 (SD 0.99). Current smokers were just over 2 times more likely to have CAP [OR 2.20 (95% CI 1.80, 2.68, 18 studies)]. The effect was smaller when looking at incidence of CAP in cohort studies [HR 1.47 (95% CI 1.19, 1.83, 8 studies)]. Similar to other respiratory diseases, smoking is an important risk factor for CAP. Reduction in smoking prevalence could result in significant decrease the clinical and economic burden of CAP.","PeriodicalId":212819,"journal":{"name":"Tobacco, smoking control and health education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130425262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
