The method is based on the assumption that the emitted noise is characteristic of the mechanical condition of the machine concerned. On the theoretical side, subject to analysis have been the electric machine noise sources and their mathematical description. In practical situations, the noise signals are picked from sound field of the machine. A critical review of the strong points and weak spots of noise diagnostics is presented, as well as the prospects for practical utilization of the method based on noise measurement and analysis.","PeriodicalId":211666,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika)","volume":"1972 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130067529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PP capacitors are only available as leaded components, have a self-healing ability and low loss factor. The work was oriented on study of percentage changes of the loss factor of PP film capacitors during long-time thermal treatment at the temperature of 100 °C. The capacitance of measured samples was $pmb{0.1 mu mathrm{F}}$, class of the capacitors was X2. Products of five manufacturers were tested. Measurements were carried out using an RLC measuring device HP4284A. The percentage changes in the loss factor measured at the 1 kHz, 10 kHz, 100 kHz and 1 MHz frequencies due to thermal treatment for 20,000 hours were inspected. It was found that the changes are in the range of 1.4 to 3 % and that the changes only slightly depend on the value of the loss factor of the capacitors at the beginning of the test.","PeriodicalId":211666,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130030419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A transformer defect can lead to heavy damage on the equipment itself as well as to its surroundings. Therefore, a defect is coherent with high costs. Numerous transformers are in operation since several decades. Furthermore, in Germany an additional stress for the equipment yields from a rising energy input of regenerative sources. The situation of the distribution grid is additionally intensified by a delayed system expansion. Hence, a transformer condition assessment tool is in development, which will support transformer expert at their daily work. This tool provides automated measurement evaluation, generation of diagnostic statements as well as the determination of a transformer overall condition. Health index (HI) methods are approved techniques for determining the general condition of a transformer. Thus, they are important for a condition assessment tool also. An overview about actual HI methods was generated by a literature study. Afterward the most promising methods where selected and implemented for the condition assessment tool. This paper recapitulates the literature study as well as the selection criteria and the implementation of the most interesting HI methods.","PeriodicalId":211666,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114459328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In power leveling, it is conceivable that LiB is connected to the grid. Therefore, the possibility that a high voltage pulse such as induced lightning will be applied to LiB must be considered, but it has hardly studied academically. Thus, in this study, high-frequency high-voltage pulse was applied to LiB and its effects were investigated. First, considering the inductance and ground capacitance of the transmission line, high impedance LiB was made by reducing the electrode area. Second, using an impulse noise simulator, voltage pulses with a pulse width of 0.4 [μs] and a voltage of 1 [kV] were applied ten times to the prepared high impedance LiB. It was expected that the capacity of LiB would decrease due to high voltage pulse, however it hardly changed. On the other hand, in the AC impedance analysis of the LiB after applying the high voltage pulse experiment, it was found that the arc of the high frequency side became smaller.","PeriodicalId":211666,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122205009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Underestimation of the phenomena can have frustrating consequences starting from unexpected behavior of the circuits through the damage or malfunction of the sensitive electronics up to the eventuality of shock hazard to the device's operator. The paper presents a new and alternative method to test the phenomenon. Contrary to the traditional approach the method is based on discharging of capacitor using various loads. To implement the method there was designed and implemented a specialized measuring fixture. The paper describes a principle of the method, a principle of the measuring fixture and practical results as well.","PeriodicalId":211666,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126454813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years the focus shifted to its implementation. Since the resources for monitoring investments were not unlimited, the asset managers devoted their attention primarily on transformer monitoring at first, letting the condition monitoring of circuit breakers somehow fall behind (as evidenced in specific details from the CIGRE enquiry 2004-2007). Finally, circuit breakers are now getting more monitoring attention. In deciding which parameters should be kept under scrutiny to accurately assess the circuit breaker condition, travel measurement is one of the most discussed topics. Measuring the opening/closing coil current and the commutation of auxiliary contacts is essential, inexpensive and quite straightforward. Installing SF6 gas density monitoring, in addition to an already installed threshold gas relay, finds its motivation in environmental gas leakage regulations. The measurement of travel curves requires the permanent installation of a proper transducer and additional fitting work, which has an impact on the cost of the monitoring system. Supporting the best decision whether to go for it or not, the benefits in terms of monitoring assessment are analyzed in this paper. Starting from the influence of contact travel on circuit breaker performance, typical parameters that can be derived from this measurement are analyzed and compared in relation to possible circuit breaker problems. Considerations are provided as to where to take the movement from and how to rescale the input signal. Some indications are also given on how to select a proper travel transducer and DC/DC converter power supply, what to pay attention to from an electrical as well as from a mechanical point of view to enhance reliability and measurement accuracy.","PeriodicalId":211666,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Diagnostics in Electrical Engineering (Diagnostika)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127865078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dielectric diagnostic methods namely capacitance and tan δ measurements at different frequencies (Dielectric spectroscopy a frequency domain method) and Recovery voltage measurement (time domain method) has been used to study the dielectric response of epoxy mica insulation. Two different types of insulation systems namely Epoxy-Mica resin poor and epoxy-Mica resin rich system are evaluated. Low voltage measurements at 140 volts peak were made in the frequency range of 1 mHz to 1 kHz using Dielectric spectroscopy. The Recovery voltage measurement technique was adopted to investigate the slow polarization process in the dielectric and to assess the insulation ageing based on the analysis of polarization spectrum.
