Thanks to the large number of comb lines $(sim 50)$ generated by the QDash-MLL, we can easily tailor the optical frequency comb (OFC) spectrum and the filter responses. The negative taps are enabled through a balanced photodiode (BPD). In the experiment, we realized the flat-top and triangular responses. The proposed MWP filter shows a great tunability. Moreover, the readily packaged QDash-MLL with the large number of comb lines is a promising OFC source for developing integrated and reconfigurable MWP applications.","PeriodicalId":211328,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics (MWP)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122041576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using hybrid intregrated lasers, it is possible to directly integrate such a light source with a signal processing circuit. In this paper we show the mode-locking of a hybrid integrated laser designed for continuous wave operation. Due to the filter present in the laser cavity, the laser outputs narrow combs preserving high power per line, which is a key requirement in many MWP-related applications. The filter also serves as a tunable delay, which can be used to tune the line spacing of the optical frequency comb. We show a 573 MHz tuning range of the fundamental beat note of the optical frequency comb, between 1.9 and 2.5 GHz. This wide tuning range, adds flexibility to the modelocked laser without needing a driving radio frequency source to modulate the optics as local oscillator.","PeriodicalId":211328,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics (MWP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130742425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A dual drive Mach Zehnder Modulator having two distinct RF signals modulates a 1310 nm optical carrier using distributed feedback laser for 15 km of standard single mode fiber. The DPD method is employed for multi band 5G NR signals by utilizing generalized memory polynomial and decomposed vector rotation method.
