It is based on the prolate spheroidal source modelling and requires the same number of NF data as in the case of an onset AUT mounting, depending such a number only on the surface of the adopted AUT modelling. Moreover, it makes use of an efficient 2-D optimal sampling interpolation formula to recover the NF data needed to perform the standard NF/FF transformation, whose amount is related to the radius of the minimum sphere enclosing the AUT and centred at the scanning sphere centre. As it will be shown, the experimental results will further confirm the practical effectiveness of the proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129900028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Action was especially active in the organization of training schools (TSs), which focused on all aspects of ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology, methodology, and applications; overall, 15 TSs were organized in eight countries of the European continent, attended by more than 430 trainees. The Action also organized a successful series of science communication activities to establish a dialogue with stakeholders and end-users of GPR research, as well as to increase public awareness about GPR capabilities and applications. Most science communication activities were carried out in less research-intensive countries of the European continent and the overall initiative was denominated “TU1208 GPR Roadshow.” Part of the Roadshow consisted of a series of non-scientific workshops and practical demonstrations held in six countries and attended by more than 480 participants; in parallel, a series of initiatives with children and citizens were carried out in Estonia. Two more educational initiatives of COST Action TU1208 are presented in this paper. In particular, the Action developed an open-access educational package (“TU1208 Education Pack”) for teaching GPR in University courses. Moreover, the Action developed and made available an openaccess guide for building a cheap frequency-modulated continuous-wave GPR prototype, conceived for training purposes.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129491142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system consists of a web application with a database and a mobile android application that communicate with each other via REST APIs. In the system, two primary functionalities can be activated depending on the availability of global navigation system information on a mobile device. In the case of availability, information about the mobile device, its location, altitude, time and visible base stations are stored in the web application database. In the case of inaccessibility of the global navigation system information, the mobile application sends to a web application the location query based on information about the visible base stations on the mobile device and obtains location estimate. Within the web application, a location estimation algorithm and data validity management algorithm are carried out. During preliminary experimental period of data gathering in one urban and one suburban environment, the performance evaluation was carried out and the system showed good initial performance. The benefit to all potential target industries and challenges of presented system are given.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129819565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This technology offers higher capacity, faster speed and improved spectral and energy efficiency. In this paper, we investigate massive MIMO propagation channel performances in real propagation environment. Therefore, channel measurements were carried out at 3.7 GHz using a uniform planar array (UPA) with 64 elements as a receiver and a patch array made of 8 elements PIFA as a transmitter. Both line-of-sight (LoS) and non-line-of-sight (NLoS) conditions were investigated in this campaign. Additionally, simulations using Orange ray-based 3D propagation model termed as Starlight were conducted. The objective is to characterize both measured and simulated Massive MIMO channels and optimize this propagation model to ensure agreement between simulations and measurements.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114214665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper a modified approach to realization of a specklegram based vibration sensor system is discussed. Replacing the (standard) camera detector with an array of several detector diodes improves the size and frequency range of the system. Different statistical methods for processing the signals from the diode array are presented, compared experimentally and discussed. The principal advantages of the specklegram vibration detection approach, low cost and distributed detection possibility, have been retained.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123399514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
