An alternative transmitting system, that imitates non-Foster matching by a superposition of two quadrature offset voltage signals at a short dipole, is proposed. This system avoids stability problems that are inevitable in ordinary non-Foster matching. The correctness of proposed idea is verified both by simulations and preliminary measurements on an experimental demonstrator operating in HF frequency range.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125236540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, reflectarray antennas are designed assuming local periodicity in which the mutual coupling is modeled as though each element is embedded in an infinite array of identical elements. This allows the fields to be expanded in terms of a Floquet series expansion. The design approach is approximate since reflectarrays are in fact aperiodic. Here, we present a new design approach which avoids any local periodicity assumption. Each element is modeled as a distinct element, and coupling calculated for the true array. Thus, the approach is rigorous. Simulation results are presented that verify the design method.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134069311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, several approaches have been proposed for optimizing as much as possible some performance parameters or the dimensions of the arrays, but they all suffer from several drawbacks which are effectively tackled by the proposed approach. In this contribution, we propose an innovative approach to the mask-constrained power synthesis of shaped beams through fixed-geometry antenna arrays having whatever layout and element patterns. In particular, we are able to formulate the problem as the global optimization of a very small number of parameters, and we propose and discuss two different solution procedures.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132672661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over the years, the contactless measurement of vital signs becomes a new state of the art. For the verification of such new contactless systems, a test bench is essential for the system validation. Therefore, an electromotive dummy was developed for the verification of our new designed radar frontends and data acquisition systems. Specially, the simulation of an infant will be discussed in this paper.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124362156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theory has now been demonstrated with a range of free-standing structures or surfaces, designed using dielectrics or printed planar metasurfaces. The development on the near-field structures can be divided into three phases. The first phase was focused on narrow frequency band for demonstrating the concept. The second phase of the development is to increase the bandwidth of near-field structures that can cover frequency band required for commercial wireless applications. In the third phase, the overall cost of near-field structures is drastically reduced using advanced manufacturing technique such as additive manufacturing. Some of the highlights of the developments in near-field structures include increasing broadside gain of classical resonant-cavity antennas by $sim 9$ dB and realization of antenna beam steering in a conical region having an apex angle of 102 °.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"408 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114058807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to increase the life quality of elderly people the medical support and assistance will be provided at people homes which require the development of new technologies to support their living and reduce needed interaction of the nursing stuff. Activity detection and deviation from daily activity patterns are recognized as the main indicators to identify modification of the people behaviour showing potential risk in the deterioration of their physical and mental health. The passive and active localization are two key technologies applied for activity detection and tracking. In this respect in this paper we specify a new communication protocol for passive and active localization applicable for assisted living applications supporting tracking one person in their apartment. Communication protocol exploits the IEEE 802.15.4-2011 UWB communication technology for ranging and channel sounding application as inputs for the passive and active localizations.","PeriodicalId":211244,"journal":{"name":"2019 23rd International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications (ICECOM)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114274731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
