Many rural or indigenous people in many developing countries highly value traditional herbal treatments. Around 80% of people worldwide, including 60% of rural Indians, rely on traditional medicine, according to the World Health Organization. Utilization of herbal supplements increased from 2.5% to 12% over the previous five years. India's transition from traditional to modern medicine has been made easier by the evaluation of novel medications, particularly those derived from phytochemicals. Some of the chemical elements present in medicinal plants include tannins, alkaloids, carbohydrates, terpenoids, steroids, flavonoids, and phenols. As a result, we are attempting to summarize, gather the number of plants, and their ethnopharmacological qualities in this complete review study research.","PeriodicalId":21071,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry","volume":"19 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140435508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such spoilage of foods to avoid the growth of unwanted microorganisms in order to protect from poisoning is generally achieved by the use of preservatives. But due to continuous exposure of the microorganism with the same preservatives have been resulted to create resistance against it. So, in order to search for the new preservatives, the petroleum ether, chloroform, acetone, methanol and aqueous extracts of Caesalpinia pulcherrima (L.) leaves have been examined against Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli and Aspergillus niger HN-2 microorganisms for antimicrobial activity. The conducted experimental results clearly indicated about its ability to restrict the growth of tested microorganisms generally responsible for food poisoning and spoilage. Since, the previous reported toxicity studies already showed its safety profile, these plant extracts can surely be the matter of alternative choice as food preservatives.","PeriodicalId":21071,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140436150","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two formulations were made F1 and F2. The F1 formulation contains less quantity of poly herbal ingredients than the F2 formulation. The developed formulation's effectiveness as a mosquito repellent was assessed. The Incense mosquito sticks were prepared by hand rolling method in research laboratory. The herbal ingredients used are the Holy basil, Neem, Rosemary, Camphor, Cinnamon bark, lemongrass oil. The Acacia used as a binder to roll the sticks and lemon grass oil used as flavoring agent. The prepared formulation F1 and F2 was evaluated its efficacy. The F2 formulation containing increased quantity of poly herbs so it shows better repellent activity than F1 formulation. So the uses of natural herbs in the formulation of mosquito repellent sticks are free from carcinogenic chemicals, cheaper, and easy to formulate.","PeriodicalId":21071,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry","volume":"27 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140437128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Carrot seed oil is pressed from wild carrot seeds, while carrot seed essential oil is steam-distilled and may come from either the seeds or the carrot itself. It has a unique aroma, but carrot seed oil may be found in many formulas dealing with skin conditions ranging from revitalizing and toning to eczema and can also be directly on the skin as another way to take advantage of its many benefits e. g. analgesic, androgenic, anti-Alzheimer, anorexic, anti-arcane, anti-aging anti-asthmatic activity. The present study has been taken up to establish the physical and phytochemical properties of carrot (Daucus carota L.) seeds and their oil which was extracted in the laboratory with the help of Soxhlet apparatus. The seeds were evaluated for successive extractive values, moisture content, crude protein, crude fiber, total ash, acid-insoluble ash, total carbohydrate, essential oil, mineral contents, and weight of 1000 seeds. Also, relative density, refractive index, free fatty acids, peroxide value, iodine value, saponification number, and unsaponifiable matter were determined in the seed oil. Other parameters studied, arefluorescence behaviour, qualitative and quantitative analysis of inorganic and phytoconstituents etc. Besides, thin layer chromatography of different solvent extracts of seeds and their oil was also reported in the present study. The fatty acids identified by gas chromatography were oleic (5.21%), linoleic (11.5%), palmitic (13.50%), and stearic (3.50%) acids. The yield of essential and crude oil from carrot seeds was established as 0.83% and 6.50% respectively.","PeriodicalId":21071,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry","volume":"24 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140436148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was assumed that the Silphium plants became lost in the first century AD. Moreover, evidence from the literature depicts the presence of Silphion plant up to the fifth century. Silphium in classical antiquity was used for being an aphrodisiac or as medicine. A myriad of medical properties attributed to Silphium, the most renowned use in ancient times was as a contraceptive, abortifacient, for menstrual disorders and as an emmenagogue that would expel the fetus. The valuable product was the resin. It was the indispensable article of trade from the ancient North African city of ‘Cyrene’, growing abundantly in a narrow coastal tract. It was so important a plant for the people of that locality that, most of their coins bore a picture of that plant. But unfortunately, the plant became extinct due to its over-exploitation, including over-harvesting and over-grazing, compounded by changes in the local climate.","PeriodicalId":21071,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry","volume":"214 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140437640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
