As a result of which there is a growing concern and resentment particularly among educated women and educated working women against all such customs and rituals, which lower down their status in society. Social freedom is the desire to be free from social taboos, conventions, rituals and roles, which provide them with lower status in society. Social freedom means freedom from control or interference of parents and husband, freedom from social taboos, customs and rituals, which impose conventional roles and restrictions on girls/women. Women in India carry a strong desire for freedom. Women have been given equal rights in our constitution. However, it is a sad reality that women are still slaves as they were ages ago. It is pleasant to talk about women liberation; but, no one has really given them real freedom despite all the laws.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116936586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adolescents are no exception. Assessments and examinations of any kind put a person under pressure and emotional strain, and more so the academic examinations, as the performance at these have become the indices of one's economic and social capabilities in adult life. In addition to several other factors that contribute to stress among students, socio-economic status (SES) is found to bear a strong relation to their experience of stress. The present research attempted to study stress in students of standard X in relation to their SES. The sample comprised of 1092 students of standard X. The rating scales used for the purpose of study were prepared by the researcher. Descriptive analysis dealt with the magnitude of the variables included in the study to show the extent of total stress, achievement stress, examination stress and social stress of total number of students (TNS), boys and girls. Inferential statistics included Pearson's coefficient of correlation. The study revealed a negative correlation between stress and SES and implies the higher need of attention to be accorded to students belonging to the lower socioeconomic strata of society in a bid to alleviate the stress they encounter, help them recognise their potential and motivate them to use the available resources optimally.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131875903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ambedkar's idea of the ‘emancipation of Untouchables'was intrinsically linked to his political ideology of “Untouchables” being a separate minority distinct from the Caste Hindus. The standard approach of the Nationalist leaders was to deny the separate ‘political identity’ of different communities, but, to treat the differences of social/cultural identities of communities to be limited to social and cultural sphere. The Nationalist approach failed in some of the cases because of the unequal power relations among the different communities; whereby the Colonial State created the space and opportunity for contestation for power and hegemony.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134536067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Education is undergoing a constant change under the effect of globalisation. In the 21st century the effect of globalisation on education is due to rapid development in the field of communication and technology. Through this development changes have taken place within learning systems leading to the emergence of innovative ideas, new values and new techniques across the world. Advancement in the field of Information and Communicatoin Technology has brought about a significant change in the role of students and teachers, thus producing a shift in society from industrialisation to an information based society. It has affected culture and brought about cultural homonisation. This homonisation is now shaping the children, the future citizens of the world into “global citizens”.) Education has become invaluable for individuals. In today's environmenteducation provides individuals with better opportunities of employment in specialised fields, which in turn leads to a better lifestyle, power and social status. Education is thus becoming a lifelong learning and a training process, leading to the development of transferable skills and knowledge that can be applied to competitive markets where knowledge and information are being treated as a commodity. This paper analyses the effect of globalisation on education and also discuses about the impact of globalisation on culture.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128093419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It keeps on changing its presentation style and continues searching for innovative methods to reach its target audience. Advertising is an education business, and its main task is to educate customers about new products, offers, services and related information. The traditional methods have kept the entire system occupied, busy and costly. Markets today are changing fast: price-sensitive customers, new competitors, new distribution channels, new communication channels, the Internet, wireless commerce, globalisation, deregulation, privatisation, etc., the list goes on. It is not only markets that are changing but technologies that support them, such as e-commerce, e-mail, mobile phones, fax machines, sales and marketing automation, cable TV, videoconferencing, etc. are also changing. It is imperative that companies think through the revolutionary impact of these new technologies.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131518774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Now, the focus of libraries shifted from print to electronic. Libraries of developed countries formed consortia to achieve some common interests such as sharing the same system, sharing databases, standardisation of policy in accessing commercial databases, etc. But, libraries in India are lagging behind in realising the possibilities of library consortium. The main reason to form a library consortium is to improve information resources, to provide better services to the users and to gain financial benefits.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131576746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a system of activities that are likely to result in learning. It is a task-oriented process, a process to achieve certain pre-determined objectives. The main objective of all English as Foreign Language(EFL) literature students is to bring out effective communication along with developing literary efficiency to understand and appreciate literature. Poems serve as valuable materials that expose the learners to different registers and types of language use, and being rich in cultural references, they provide a wide scenario of learning opportunities. Poetry does not exist on the pages of a book, it is an interaction. Being a facilitator, a teacher should help the students to personalise the poem. Class activity strategies should be categorised as pre-reading activities, reading activities and post-reading activities. For all these activities, arm-chair method is the best-suited method. Such a method creates a relaxed atmosphere for intellectual work. The teacher should motivate the students to gain a proper insight into the material. The teacher must aim to bridge the gap between the classroom and the universe outside, but never overprotect the learner. Fruitful strategies will provide a unique forum where the students can weave the variegated threads of life and may fly on their own.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123253749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Environment Education is not totally a new concept to the Indians. The modern global issues of preservation, protection and development of land, vegetation, animals and forest etc., for environmental concerns had been the source of ancient Indian writers’ worry long ago. That is why appropriate use of resources and administrative control to restrain over exploitation, constitute the prime paradigm of environmental protection and all these are found in this literature.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114470713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It completely ignores the timeliness in receipt of vaccination, which is important for child health and survival. In this paper, the researcher attempts to study the age-appropriate vaccination pattern of two districts, viz., Dibrugarh and Sibsagar of Assam. Multi-stage cluster sampling method was used to select random sample of children to collect information on immunisation in the study area. The techniques of survival analysis were used to estimate the age-appropriate immunisation with respect to different vaccine doses. The up-to-date immunisation coverage was also calculated for comparison purpose. The results revealed that the timeliness in receipt of different doses of vaccination was very less despite a satisfactory level of up-to-date immunisation coverage. Particularly, by age of 14 weeks (the recommended age for the receipt of third dose of DPT and OPV vaccine), only about 5% children were vaccinated with the third dose of DPT and OPV vaccine; while the up-to-date coverage of the two doses were about 86 and 82%, respectively, in the study area. A similar type of result could be observed in other doses also. Thus, it can be concluded that though the child immunisation coverage in Assam has been increasing, there is still a lot of concern over the timeliness of vaccination coverage, which will be able to provide highest protection against vaccine-preventable disease.","PeriodicalId":210568,"journal":{"name":"Quest-The Journal of UGC-ASC Nainital","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125230803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
