These solutes are the extracts obtained from the recovery from the binary immiscible solvents namely: Carbon tetrachloride-Water, Diethyl ether-Water and n-Hexane-Water that were used in accordance with the partition coefficient technique as reported by Onyeocha et. al. This technique was employed in the leaching of the specific solute from the contaminants. As described by Onyeocha et. al., the process was brought about by the diffusion equilibrium attained by the solute in the system i.e. the binary immiscible solvent(s) at a constant temperature and pressure. The spontaneous diffusion is the effect of the partition coefficient developed due to the different degrees of solubilities of the solute in the binary immiscible solvent. The partition coefficient technique is used for extraction, purification and concentration of solutes. Beneficiation is considered as the final process that brings the product (solute) to its most viable state.","PeriodicalId":210076,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Material Sciences & Manufacturing Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129251576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To analyze the corona discharge behaviors at 0.5 mm short electrode gap system as basic research work between main conductor and floating electrode, we considered fully coupled numerical model based on the charge continuity equations for positively charged ion, negatively charged ion and free electrons. Poisson’s equation is coupled with hydro-dynamic drift-diffusion equations derived from the three kinds of charge continuity equation. Fowler-Nordheim field emission is assumed that the electron emission by electric field is used as boundary conditions for main conductor and floating electrode. As a results, it is found that the floating electrode creates a non-uniform electric field distribution with a large field enhancement, causing ionization to initiate corona discharge. In other words, floating electrode is early corona discharge inception by collecting the induced charge developed by high voltage electrode. This result is expected to be applicable to various corona discharge generating systems as well as insulation design of power apparatus with presence defects such as a floating metal particle under lightning impulse voltage.","PeriodicalId":210076,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Material Sciences & Manufacturing Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131208852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In-core instrumentation refers to the sensors and other measurement devices that are used to monitor the conditions inside the nuclear reactor core, such as temperature, pressure, and neutron flux. These measurements are used to control the operation of the reactor and ensure that it is operating within safe limits from Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) point of view. One way that AI can be used in nuclear in-core and out-core Instrumentation and Control (I&C) as well as Instrumentation and Measurement (I&M) is by analyzing the data from these sensors in real-time and using machine learning algorithms to identify patterns and trends. This can help operators to detect potential problems or anomalies before they become critical, allowing them to take proactive measures to prevent accidents or malfunctions. AI can also be used to optimize the operation of the reactor by analyzing data from past operations and using this information to develop more efficient control strategies. For example, AI algorithms could be used to identify the most effective combination of control parameters to maintain a stable and safe reactor operation, while minimizing the use of fuel and other resources. Overall, the use of AI in nuclear In-core instrumentation and control has the potential to improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of nuclear power plants. A sensitive three-electrode system was equipped to assess the electrochemical behavior of AE using Pt electrode as a working electrode along with silver/silver chloride (saturated KCl) and a steel as a reference electrode and a counter electrode, respectively. The redox response of Pt electrode against AE was analyzed using cyclic voltammetry (CV) at a scan rate ranging from 0.01 Vs-1 to 0.4 Vs-1 that showed well-defined reversible peaks in phosphate buffer saline (PBS at pH 6.0). Under optimized experimental condition, DPV peak currents were linear over concentration range 1 µM -150 µM with R2 value of 0.987 In addition, the sensitivity of the electrode was excellent with sensitivity factor of 1.3 A/M and the limit of detection (LOD) was obtained 0.2 µM. Principal component analysis (PCA) was performed on the response data to demonstrate diverse discrimination of different concentration of AE. The developed sensor showed excellent repeatability and can be successfully used to detect AE in Aloe.","PeriodicalId":210076,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Material Sciences & Manufacturing Research","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115795768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mitigation of fire hazards and radioactive release necessitates the use of fire-resistant and appropriate shielding materials, specifically plastic tubes used in chemical reactions during the conversion process. This paper aims to study the thermal stability, flammability, and shielding properties of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) tubes used in the aqueous solutions sector of the Egypt Fuel Manufacturing Pilot Plant (FMPP), to can replacement the consumed one by another from the local market with the same property. For this purpose, PVDF samples were tested by Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray direction (XRD). Thermal analysis tests as thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) as well as the derivative of thermogravimetric analysis (DTGA). The ignition test was applied using a limiting oxygen index (LOI), flame chamber (UL/94). 137Cs radioactive source of 5mCi activity was used for gamma shielding properties measurement. Shielding parameters of fast neutrons like removal cross-section and mean free path was calculated. Results of (TGA), showed that PVDF has good thermal stability, where weight loss (about1%) is observed at a temperature above 422ºC. PVDF sample successfully passed the UL-94 H-0 rating with a Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) of about % 44.8. Also, it has appropriate shielding properties due to the high content of fluorine atoms. PVDF containing Al metal in their composition is more effective for the attenuation of fast neutrons.","PeriodicalId":210076,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Material Sciences & Manufacturing Research","volume":"201 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123267406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this we show the metallographic structure of archaeological samples that have remained buried in the soils of Roman Baetica for 2,000 years. Diffusion does not stop at a given moment but takes place, undoing structures that seemed to be stable; this diffusion produces new equilibrium structures that we cannot evaluate due to lack of time. The research was carried out as part of the Archaeological Analogues project for the Spanish National Nuclear Waste Company (ENRESA), revealing the alternation of structures of hot-worked and normalized carbon steels. Method: The approach involved the review from reputable authors and writers, of the topics that are associated with stability constant and the generalization is remarked following the thermodynamic assessment of the stability constant of chemical compounds. Findings: The thermodynamic analysis of stability constant of chemical compounds and of reactions shows that reactions proceed in the direction of decreasing Gibb’s free energy, G, where the standard reaction Gibb’s free energy, ∆rG0 = ∆fG0 (B) - ∆fG0 (A), defines the formation of the pure substance B, from the pure substance A, at its standard state. Conclusion: RTlnK = -∆r G0 is the link between thermodynamic data and the equilibrium constant (stability constant), K. When ∆r G0 > 0, K < 1 and at equilibrium the partial pressure of A exceeds that of B. This means that the reactant A is favored in the equilibrium. When ∆r G0 < 0, K > 1 and at the equilibrium the partial pressure of B exceeds that of A. The product B is favored in the equilibrium. The equation is an exact thermodynamic relation. The equilibrium constant, K, when expressed in terms of activities, is called a thermodynamic equilibrium constant","PeriodicalId":210076,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Material Sciences & Manufacturing Research","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115512289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results obtained from XRD revealed the amorphous nature of e glass system. FTIR analysis shows the bonding parameters present in the prepared glass system. The physical parameters such as density and molar volume show opposite behaviour. The UV-VIS spectroscopy was employed in order to obtain the optical properties of glass system. The optical absorption spectra were recorded in the wavelength ranging from of 200 to 2000 nm. The optical energy band gap for both direct and indirect transitions are found to be increased on increasing the content of samarium oxide. Other useful optical parameters such as refractive index, molar refraction and Urbach energy are found to be decreased. The photo luminescent spectra displays four emission spectral bands at wavelengths 566, 604, 647 and 710 nm under the excitation wavelength of 404 nm. The recorded transitions correspond to 4 G5/2 → 6 H5/2, 6 H7/2, 6 H9/2 and 6 H11/2 transitions of samarium ions respectively.
