So, to be more focused, Bambang Dharmojati’s sample was chosen in order to give an overview of the Wayang Palembang performance. This research was conducted using qualitative methods and ethnographic approaches. During the process of research found that Wayang Palembang is a typical art that originated from Wayang Purwa. This art began to live and be known in the community since the collapse of the Palembang Darussalam sultanate. There were three very strong cultural elements in the Wayang Palembang, namely the Melayu Palembang, Java and Cirebon. Wayang Palembang today was experiencing a decline in audience interested. This phenomenon raises fundamental questions about how the Wayang Palembang performance, how Sanggar Sri Palembang survives and why it has decreased audience interested. For this reason, Hausers, Tomars and Wolff’s theories were used which said that social change in a place will present a unique art renewal in accordance with the social patterns of the community at that time, then Kernodle’s structured and textured theory was used to analyzing the form of performances to be able to presenting interpretations of interested preferences show. Furthermore, the way to survive is analyzed by Scott’s theory which said that efforts to fight and survive consist of open and hidden form resistance. The results of this study indicated that the Wayang Palembang performance today was still very classical in nature, resulting in a difference between public demand and the availability of performance space. However, to maintain its existence, Kiagus Wirawan and Sanggar Sri Palembang will always hold Wayang Palembang performances independently and do not care about the number of spectators.Keywords: Wayang Palembang; performance, society, Sanggar Sri Palembang; Bambang Dharmojati","PeriodicalId":209109,"journal":{"name":"Dance and Theatre Review","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116581250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existence of pencak silat targets is very meaningful for Minangkabau men because the target is not only a means of physical endurance training but also a basis for cultural education for Minangkabau people. Thus, the problem that will be expressed in this article is about the importance of the target for men in Minangkabau as a means of educating local wisdom, by expressing the implementation of local wisdom values through the target-style Galombang dance, and also explaining the extent to which values of the local wisdom is manifested in today’s Galombang dance performances. Sasaran and Galombang dance are two things that are interconnected in building the values of local wisdom in Minangkabau. This cultural activity has been started since the past when the royal system ruled in Minangkabau. In turn, the target as a forum for cultural education that contains local wisdom values becomes the place to produce Galombang dance, so that the values of local wisdom are manifested in the target-style Galombang dance.Keywords: local wisdom values; Sasaran; Sasaran Style of Galombang dance","PeriodicalId":209109,"journal":{"name":"Dance and Theatre Review","volume":"394 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123714593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study of multiple transformations has long been evolving in design and architecture research, but the perspective is rarely encountered in performing arts research which on average still views transformation as a linear or multi-linear process of change. Multiple transformations describe a condition of change made by multiplying or doubling the shape of the kuda kepang art (by taking the same essence, core, or fibre of its structure) into various kinds. The multiplication shows a process of creative development that is triggered by two factors, namely the development of aesthetic and market needs.Keywords: kuda kepang; multiple transformations; traditions; creativity; markets","PeriodicalId":209109,"journal":{"name":"Dance and Theatre Review","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129807216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
