A comparative analysis is performed for machines with a different number of pole pairs. Also, the benefit of rotor asymmetry was examined. Each model is obtained with topology optimization using a Genetic Algorithm (GA) hybridized with local on/off sensitivity method. This hybrid approach can be effective to reduce computation time. It is demonstrated how 4-pole designs are dominating 6-pole and 8-pole designs in terms of average torque and power factor.","PeriodicalId":207935,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123757993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mismatch originates from several factors such as non-uniform modules aging, shading, dust accumulation, faults in tracker systems and so on. Evaluation of mismatch level is a difficult task because it is necessary to take into account many factors: power configuration, geographical position, weather conditions, quality of measurements provided by dataloggers, etc. Moreover, since different criteria can be applied to calculate the percentage of mismatch, different results might be obtained for the same PV system leading in some cases to wrong conclusions. With the purpose of introducing some approaches for the assessment of mismatch losses in large PV fields, this paper presents a study carried out from data acquired in an existing 300 MW PV plant in Brazil in which an experimental 2.5 MW subfield was realized using 60 kW string inverters whose input stage has more DC/DC input converters. This particular power configuration allows the calculation of mismatch at string level as well as at array level at the DC side input of each string inverter. A multi-criteria approach has been implemented with the purpose to evaluate the coherency of results. A modelling strategy, based on an integrated state-space average model, has been exploited in order to get all the electrical quantities in case of faults, missing or wrong measurements.","PeriodicalId":207935,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129045672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the complete dimensioning of the both cages’ slots and the slit between these formulas were leaded out. The influence of these dimensions on the starting current, starting torque and breakdown torque ratios and on the rated slip was analyzed in detail. The developed method was tested by designing of a three-phase induction motor (IM) with DCR for the rated power 5.5 kW by constant supply frequency 400 Hz, the obtained results were verified with the evaluation of motor characteristics from a 2D Finite Element Method (FEM) motor’s model. The designed DCR core sheet was compared with DCR core sheets used in industry by designing of an IM with the same stator and air gap. The obtained with the designed DCR results show much higher starting torque and breakdown torque ratios than the results obtained by using of industrial sheets.","PeriodicalId":207935,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124775654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main BDFRG advantage over a conventional doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is the lack of slip-rings and brushes, hence the higher reliability, maintenance-free operation and lower cost. The desired active and reactive power variations are accomplished using a vector control scheme, which requires the rotor position and speed information in wind power applications with maximum wind energy extraction. Electro-mechanical shaft sensors, commonly used for this purpose, are prone to failures in harsh environments, like those encountered in off-shore wind turbines, and particularly with regular brush replacement intervals of DFIGs, making the BDFRG an attractive brushless alternative. The proposed controller design has been shown robust and capable of producing quality rotor angular position and velocity estimates by implementing an inverter-fed winding (secondary) current based MRAS. The realistic simulation results presented have proven the high accuracy and effectiveness of the estimation technique for different test scenarios of the BDFRG.","PeriodicalId":207935,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114320206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper details modelling of a PV inverter acting as an AF and performing compensation of fundamental reactive power and non-fundamental distortion power, i.e. compensation of harmonic emission due to nonlinear loads connected in the local network. Several load cases are analysed, including emission by constant harmonic current sources and full-wave rectifier loads, which are also considered for different operating powers.","PeriodicalId":207935,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128172514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present work reports the study of a multi-three-phase machine to be employed in the hybridization of a 5-ton bucket-excavator, in particular to allow the internal combustion engine downsizing. The design of the machine was chosen to satisfy the constraints for the integration into the existing powertrain and to meet the reference trench digging test cycle. Detailed simulation of losses, including the effect of PWM modulation, was performed to obtain the efficiency map. The losses values were also used as an input for the thermal analysis to assess the machine capability of operating in a harsh environment such as the under-the-hood intended application. Then the study focused on the fault operation capability by obtaining the airgap radial force under different fault scenarios.","PeriodicalId":207935,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134429485","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The targeted approach was to create simulation programs with 3 different complexity levels. The first one was designed to use constant parameters of the machine, the second one engaged look-up table based DQ inductance variations vs. currents while the most complex one, was based on 3D matrixes for the DQ flux variations vs the currents. All these studies were engaged on a known permanent magnet synchronous machine for which the complete identification and design data is available. A finite element analysis (FEA) of the machine is performed in order to evaluate its electromagnetic behavior and perform the parameter computation. All the models are built in MATLAB/Simulink using Energetic Macroscopic Representation (EMR), an efficient tool for the control design and model organization.","PeriodicalId":207935,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131832647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
